Hi there, I entered when bitcoin was around $600 a few years ago and lost a shit ton of money. Became obsessed with cryptocurrencies in general which spiraled into a dark depression.        I could have bought Bitcoin at $10 a coin but I was young and immature, not understanding quite what it stood for. I'm sure many were in the same position at the time. To be honest, I had thought Bitcoin was another variant/ alternative to E-Gold or something. I didn't really handle my due diligence then.
I'm sure Bitcoin is just getting started and needed to correct itself by deflating. Without any resistance, you can't develop into a strong force. I mean look at how many institutional investors have their eye on the market now!
  The main concern most tycoon investors have is the market manipulation. If I'm not mistaken, it's one of the reasons why propositions for a Bitcoin ETF haven't passed yet.

Look, that's generally good advice no matter which side of the fence you're on, but I can tell you that there actually are, believe it or not, people who do believe in the tech and haven't bought it other than to try it. Lifelong Bitcoin educator Antonoupoulos was one, though of course, the mockery of him having none despite teaching it for years resulted in people donating him so much he actually became a millionaire (I don't know what he did with the donated amount).

So, believe it or not, there are people still in this despite or because of the price crash, who'll be here long after Bitcoin is "outlawed and crashes to 0". Hi, I have a few questions if you don't mind answering. Would appreciate it. What do you mean other than to try it? what are they exactly doing? I mean I understand it cuts out the banks and its peer to peer where you become in control of your own money. But we are still talking money, bitcoin still has a value. Honestly if bitcoin was $0 tomorrow till the end of the year, how many people would actually be in the space.

Nobody knows how the future is going to go and bitcoin can be life saver
in future if the global economies crash. If they dont and bitcoin goes to
1M well yes there will be a lot of people cashing out but there will be people
buying into it still in 5, 10, 20 or even 40 years, its all relative and different

Maybe you missed something: not everybody here bought Bitcoin. Some people here implement things related to Bitcoin (and other crypto). Some people have businesses related to crypto. Some trade. And so on. People do earn crypto in this ecosystem. It's not all about investing.

Yes, probably a good number of people which earned crypto kept some or all of it as investment. Yes, probably those are also vulnerable to "end up going crazy" as much as some that didn't use their brain when investing (FOMO, buy high sell low, ...). But also people working with Bitcoin will know the price all the time (myself I have 75% of the online time a ticker on, just to be informed).

Thanks for your opinion. Just curious to what reasons why people are here. Would you compare cryptocurrencies bitcoin in particular, to religion or a cult? Do these people you talk of see bitcoin as a god like figure? in Satoshi we trust. I think it was 2017, I genuinely questioned my sanity towards crypto's. Maybe i don't belong on this forum because you guys are on another planet. EVERYBODY here has bought into bitcoin,FACT. In the philosophical sense. But that a side, Miners have bought rigs and dev's spend there time on crypto. Time is the most valuable commodity. Businesses related to crypto, you mean scammers right lol Traders technically own what they are trading (i'll let that slide) you could argue the exchanges technically own whats on there platform right lol.

I joined cryptocurrency in 2017 and last 2 years many changes bitcoin and crypto currency. When i was first started bitcoin earn and buy and sell this time bitcoin was only 1100$ and then it was up to 4000$ than again down and in Dec 2017 bitcoin price cross the highest limit that means 20000$.after middle dec2017 bitcoin price going to down and down because many company and country give negative feedback about bitcoin. But people believe that bitcoin price back again and i also think this bitcoin will be up otherwise crypto market destory .I think most of the people get enough profit and change her lifestyle in 2017 so always try to catch your opportunity.

You were right because bitcoin is intended in long-term holding investment, not in just a week or a month. People who are not a real enthusiast didn't have a full idea of how Bitcoin works. If you invested last month while the market is too cheap and forgot at least a year, for sure your profit is there.

Interesting thoughts. You could argue even though you were in the space at $10 and made millions you could have blown it all and now you are poor. Or even the case that you bought at $10 and sold at $100, would you be that rich? or you made a lot and reinvested recently and are currently 80-90% down on your portfolio. Many different scenarios can be played out. But overall, if you were smart enough to be in the space then, there's something about you.

But we have other alternatives too, for example take monero, this is great coin if we want highest anonymity level, there are stable altcoins backed by usd, there is ether which has a lot of functions too.

People are always attracted to money, and when Bitcoin reaches the highest value, it has drawn the entire world to look at it. I do believe the majority of bitcoin users are here for money/gains, but not all of them have the same intention. One who clearly understand the concept and working of bitcoin will love to use bitcoin and prefer it over traditional payment system.

I think as long as we can take a profit, we don't have to hold the coins because the market is volatile, we don't have any clue that will show us the price can stay at that level. The price itself can break up and down at any time so you need to make sure you can get the profit and leave the market when everything goes down. And if you can do that, you will not lose money and minds, and even you can survive better than the other people.

I think all of us go here in crypto is because of money,for investment or doing a task to earn reward and make this as a money. I think that you take the trade is very simplistic. You don't take into account the option when people buy and sell bitcoins all the time. That is, instead of buying Bitcoin at 100$ and selling at 20,000$, I, for example, bought it for 100$  — sold it at 200$, bought it back at 120$ — sold it at 300$, bought it back at 150$ — sold it at 450$, etc. This is just a primitive example of how, on the road to 20,000$, anyone can earn on the purchase / sale of Bitcoin. All that is needed for this is knowledge and experience. I think you have neither. I don't want to offend you with this, I just want to show you that with knowledge you could look at Bitcoin from different sides and understand that you can constantly earn money on it (like in any other currency).
