Its nice to hear that comming from you. Simple realizations is enough to start quitting gambling. Its like computing how much money you got lost for the pass year and thinking if that money will be put in sometjing else like establishing business or travel with your family. Well, I think you need other people to help you to get out from gambling because the longer you quit gambling, the more money you will lose. Besides that, the big risk you should face later when you feel difficult to quit gambling is you will become addicted in gambling and in that time, it's hard to solve the addiction so it's better to quit gambling while you can.

Quitting gambling does not require someone else so you can get out, the only thing that can get you out of gambling is just yourself. A strong desire to gambling because you have become an addict will be difficult to let go and the help of others is not the right way, IMO. Maybe someone else can give a gambling addict with advice that might help, but if a gambler still doesn't have a strong desire to quit, then the advice will be useless.

I think it is a bad idea to forcefully get someone to quit their addiction.  They need to be ready to do it themselves, friends can only do so much and they may end up destroying their relationship.  I've seen my own friends turn to drugs before and they were not going to quit until they were ready, it didn't matter what the people around them said.

I think we don't have to force them to quit, but we can tell them to quit gambling while we can explain to them about the bad side of gambling. And if we can gives the right information and in the right moment, I am sure that we can get attention from him and we can help him to quit gambling too. Maybe it's a hard way for us, but as long as we can see that they have a chance to quit, then we should try because they deserve to quit gambling.

I guess those who play because of greed might be the ones suffering addiction. I wonder if those who play just for fun  also go through the addiction as some type of addiction usually results from doing non benefial things for fun. Maybe if we can solve the greed problem we can also solve the addiction problem.

Mate, humans are made with a brain to use, in which knowledge is being expanded through experiences. Greed is also one of those things that can be learned, it doesn't have to be solve for it is not a problem, it really just became one because a person is lacking some functionality and so does addiction.

Any treatment  won't work against it.
It will only depend on the person involve whether they want to or not.

Yes, those who only play for fun can also be addicted, we can see this as online games that are currently becoming popular. Why do I liken it to online games, whereas it is not gambling like mobile legends, pubg, etc. Because what we know is that those who play gambling just for fun are those who only play with money that has been set aside to get pleasure in gambling. The problem of greed is about emotional control, if you can control your emotions to be better and more patient, then at least you can minimize greed. To solve the problem of addiction depends on how much your intention to stop, if you have a strong intention to leave gambling, then chances are you will succeed.

Actually, an addict can stop gambling when he really wants to quit. With notes, he stopped it because his own desires were not the wishes of others or not because there were people who wanted him to stop gambling. Usually, when a gambling addict wants to quit with his own desire then he already knows what the ins and outs of gambling is, what the danger of gambling is and he has felt it. The sad part is that people are controlled by gambling and they are unable to make good decision of quitting it themselves . It is greediness and the addiction which keep people play gambling even if they are losing money in it. This way their family and children suffers a lot because of this habit.

I agree with you, quit is not as easy as everyone says because as you say, when it has become a habit, a part of everyday life, if we don't have it, everything will be like you say, we feel a lack of something then uncomfortable and go back to gambling to satisfy that feeling. You can say like that, but I guess that many of us having difficulties to quit gambling especially for an addicted person in gambling. We can see it in real life, many people stay in the gambling game because they have a big hope that in someday, they can make a lot of money from gambling. That is why many people still playing gambling but I am sure that some of them don't want to become addicted to gambling.

Great points but when it comes to never try again it is the most difficult part for a gambler. It is because when you think you can control yourself , you also say to yourself I am not addicted anymore I can just play a bit for fun and that is the exact point when you restart playing with addiction. Many have tried, very few have succeeded. Your points are great as a beginning.

Very few people has the strength to fight their addiction. It's like quitting smoking. If you will end up your vice drastically, you will be crazy with yourself. Try lessening your habit first and find another hobby that you are passionate about. Divert your attention to another worthwhile hobby. It takes strong determination to quit on something. You should set a greater goal for yourself why you are doing this in the first place. So if you are about to reroute again, just think of these goals you already commit to yourself.
