Reading through your points, I think most are valid. Recently, I think there are many manipulations on CMC with regards actually coinmarketcap.  But talking about investigations before listing, don't blame them that much because it's not easy to know which project will be dead in the future, they only have some norms of which if projects meet up to, then their coins or tokens will be listed. I'll say CMC is still OK with regards market capitalization even though there are some loopholes.

I think they are not a rating sites to do these for us, they are tracking websites that can help investors in their investment it's one of the tools not actually a guide that can manage your portfolio for you, so treat it as it is don't expect to much out of it.

Okay and do you have some better site? I don´t think that someone will verify all 2200 crypto listed projects. That is impossible.

That's not possible though but with more hands and tech in the job they can do it. Besides, the crypto community carry news of such coins that are meant to be delisted. Anyway, we go with the flow.

I’m starting to worry about coinmarketcap lately, after series of deceit and spammish activity
The following are my observed reasons

1. Many dead projects still on cmc

2. Market cap is fake Cox many projects which have seized to trade adds up to the market cap

3. Cmc doesn't verify authenticity of projects before listing it

4. CMC now have ads of fake icos on their website thereby leading people to scammers

Funny enough so many NOOBS believe anything and everything dey see on cmc to be authentic

Let me stop here and anyone against it should bring a proof to counter it
Or offer more options
1. As long as they are on an exchange, have some trading volume and supply - they're clearly not dead. And unless they have all of these, they won't be on CMC - maybe you can give an example to prove me wrong?
2. Could you elaborate? Their formula is incredibly simple - circulating supply X average last trading price from all exchanges listed.
3. It's not their job to verify it, they take data from exchanges, and exchanges are the people who need to verify proejcts.
4. This one is absolutely true. They were kind enough to remove the OneCoin ponzi, but once Bitconnect gave them money they listed and advertised them. This is why I moved to coincap.io.

I like to look at the token prices at CMC, but it has generated some strange stats over the last year. There was one day when CMC has shown that every altcoin has grown by 10 times. For sure it was a bug, but it had a big influence on the whole market.

Do you think they have done it on purpose?

I think coinmarletcap is one of the most trusted site in this whole crypto space. I can't understand that fact that how can be a informative free organisation could be scam. What CMC is doing is collect all data through API from the exchanges and present it in one roof that's all CMC doing. Now if there is problem then it will be in exchange not in CMC. And the question of ads is very they. They are no one to select ads it's depends on Google and you. If you once or twice search crypto or some scam ICO which you don't know about then more gonna come whatever you start.

CoinMarketCap for me is the main site from which I get basic information regarding crypto tokens. Sometimes CMC displays not quite correct information regarding individual tokens, but it seems to me that the problem is not in it, but in displaying data on the corresponding cryptocurrency exchanges. Often this affects decentralized areas where there is too much difference between bid and ask offers.

CMC is ok. We can get information easily from there and it's not the fault of the CMC if projects exits as scam, I agree that they are suppose to clean up the platform but they can't be blamed for tokens that exit as scam. If there is no CoinMarketCap will crypto be complete?

It seems to me that this resource should not immediately publish information as soon as a new project launches its own coin on the market. In any case, it is necessary to provide a sufficiently large amount of information about the authenticity of the projector, so that the cryptocurrency market does not impose misadventure with fraudulent projects.

We don't know about that, but so far, I used cryptomarketcap as a guide to know about every coin in the list. But of course, I will search on another website so that I can found more information about the coin. I don't have to stop in cryptomarketcap only because I am sure that there are many other websites which can give me another information related to the coins.

In my opinion, the coin market cap was not established to give investment advice, it's an avenue to check volume, price and capitalisation of some notable cryptocurrency. I know every coin needs to meet up with some conditions to be added to the list.
The advert placed on the CMC website is solely for revenue generation and that explains why they don't carry out background checks on projects authenticity.

CMc for me is totally safe, since you do not do investment on their site. But you use CMC as further reference on the price of the tokens. You just go and see on the prices with no risk.

I don't care about all altcoin listed in coinmarket, I only use coinmarket to find out the best altcoin and make investment decisions, I often learn altcoin in the top 300 and a few new altcoin. In addition, we only use coinmarket for free and don't invest or pay any money there, so it's always safe.

well either it is safe or not, its up to self

Coinmarketcap is a website which publish data, not shows you which project are good to invest and etc
They are merely use to shows price, history and etc

Large numbers of people are already showing doubts that today CMC may not show reliable data. I think that we need to make our resources, which will be conducted in the development of all possible exchanges.

On the CMC portal, you are provided with some data on the history of real operations with coins and their exchange rates. And it is fair to say that checking projects for legality and authenticity was not implied in their functions. It is hoped that CMC will be able to reduce the number of coins that are less active.

I heard that you need to "pay" if your project (Token/Coin) wanna get listed on CMC. I don't really know this issue, I just hear from the wind   Grin

I hope this thread will help u mate..

in that sense, your role in analyzing the market may also be done because we cannot fully entrust a website because the role of analysis is needed for this if you do not entrust CMC fully

Indeed, there are a lot of dead projects at CMC, the ground is slipping more and more, and everyone has been talking about volumes that have been rolled up for a long time.

You can't blame them, the projects don't have the volume but they are still listed on CMC because the exchange has not yet moved them. And also about ads, they advertise on your behavior, and it's not the fault of CMC
