It's not my website, but it has some extra things and I've got used with it.
Since I don't follow CMC closely, I don't know if this other site is better, but you can check for yourself. At least the prices are calculated different.

Coinmarketcap is only shows information. I think it is good thing. You can consider a coin as dead one! But remember it has a investor! People gets info about their investment via CMC. Don't underestimate it.

It's the most popular crypto market cap list so those concerns are being taken advantage of CMC itself for monetary purposes. Gone are days that they aren't advertising any scam. As the site grows in traffic, they are getting the favor as a normal website that profits from ads whether a scam or not.

CMC is a business trying to make money wherever and however it can.  I'm sure decisions made there at this point are economic based (ie., more profit) as the code is likely pretty well polished.

The more information listed on there, the more important it appears to newbies.  For newbies, CMC is acting like a lighthouse for people coming out of the dense fog.  For them it is a warm and welcoming place to go where it's everything crypto.  I imagine for each new person that starts investigating cryptocurrencies, CMC likely receives anywhere from 10 to 1000 clicks per user before they get more advanced and start seeking out more accurate information on sites other than CMC.

And like all businesses scrambling to stay ahead in a fast moving space like crypto, CMC is guilty is bending and breaking the rules in order to bring in that one more set of eyeballs.  Morally, it is CMC's job to police itself so as not to spread information about scam ICOs, but business-wise it is not their responsibility - the advertising revenue scam ICO's offer them to place ads is likely enormous and cannot be denied by the site operators/owners.

I think it is not safe to trust CMC anymore. A lot of exchange has fake volume and most of the volume are traded by bots. That is why doing your own research and stop depending your decision based on the market cap.

Coinmarketcap to me is the most authentic cryptocurrency rating platform. I don't think we have any better yardstick to measure a good or bad project performance other than cmc. Moreover, don't blame them for not deleting projects that have stopped trading since people still have such tokens and may still be able to transact someday.

I also see this. It seems like the filter of Coinmarketcap doesn't do well and many projects now have the transaction volume is very low, even died but it is still available in it

It's hard to know what projects are scams, so I can't fault them for letting shady projects advertise with them. The data on CMC can be manipulated and sometimes misleading... but I just like to look at it to get a general sense of how the market is doing.

I don't say they are safer site to provide all the detail about cryptocurrencies because I have seen personally many exchanges providing fake volume to them and they are still showimg without any investigation so don't just decide based on what you are seeing and coinmarketcap just use it as reference and go to the exchange and see the real volume.

Regardless of the flutuation rate in the market and the pros and cons of blockchain technology and crypto currencies adoption throughout the world, one of the causes can come from things like this. They are not an exchange they only list coins to track the price, volume, and information about the site, they have nothing to do with volumes, projects and whatever happens to the project, in fact, they helped traders and investors in analyzing the coins, it's still the investors task to track their portfolios.

Why do you blame cmc for that? Coinmarketcap is just like a site for information and it's not their responsibility to tell the buyers or traders on what's legit or not. Your attitude in this market should be one of distrust and to do your due diligence in any coin in which you would like to invest, even if your accusations are true no website can offer its users the certainty that what you are seeing is authentic or that you are protected from scammers, just look at Bitconnect, it was a popular coin when it existed despite all the warnings of members in the forum that it was a scam, and if people were willing to trade such coin despite that knowledge then websites kept track of it and included it in their lists.

1) CMC will not check whether the project is alive or not, he will check only the turnover of this coin on the exchanges!
2) CMC will not check if there is any speculation with a coin. From this it follows that coins can get into the top which speculate!
3) CMC and should not check the authenticity of the coin, kmk considers the turnover of the coin on all exchanges, kmk is not a regulator!
4) CMC also needs money for life and they take it from advertising projects, they do not force you to invest in projects they just sell advertising as well as the forum where we write, it even says that they are not responsible for it.

Common sense should e enough to realize that cmc isn't reliable at all.
It's like wikipedia but with horrible advertising thrown in.

But, just like wikipedia, I find it to be an incredible resource.

The most useful thing is to see the trading volume and where it is being traded.

Marketcap has always been fake on CMC. How do you know that the project listed are dead? Maybe CMC has more info than you think you have...Scam ads are practically everywhere nowadays. Even google has such ads. Moreover they do not advertise directly but using ad blocks from the same google adsense and other companies. So there is no their fault here as well.

Some of the point you listed is true in fact before you can get listed on CMC your coin must have achieved a required amount of daily trading volume. That was when CMC is making sure they do not bring substandard coin to the list but today things have change and it all boils down who you know. your coin can still get listed on CMC even though your project have not make the requirement. If there are dead coins and still in coinmarketcap, I think that is still a natural thing. Because coinmarketcap only provides information based on total market cap. If the total market cap is less, then the ranking is at the bottom. But the problem with the project being advertised there, then doing scams, can drop the coinmarketcap reputation.

If does not screen these coins whether they are scam or not. Those ads even if it's fake or not, cmc has nothing to do with it as long as they pay for the ads they make on cmc website. Also those dead project has paid for their listings on cmc so the contract is done, dead or alive they will be listed as what the contract has stated. I can actually relate with these concerns, especially where it has to do with the ads, have seen certain cryptos that turned out scam being advertised on their platform, I think they should put a disclaimer on those adds so investors won't take those ads hook line and sinker that, as per deleting inactive coins, I have seen that happen

If we are compare with exchanges directly, the data displayed by CMC is inaccurate, some are too large and vice versa, maybe they have a special purpose to get profit and influence the public to buy or sell coins that they have.

Well, I see CMC kind of like wikipedia.
It is great for general information and knowledge but a terrible place for accurate, legitimate info.

All CMC does is use an algorhythm to gather data to be displayed.
So it isn't really cmc that is scamming, it is just that crypto value is much more complicated than just gathering data.
And since it averages it all out and bases the value off of btc, there are innacuracies as well.
As far as old, dead coins being listed, you need to realize that blockchain tech never really dies.
It is a distributed open source ledger that anyone can use.
so as long as even one person is mining or maintaining nodes, it doesn't ever die.
Even if no one does that, it can be picked up anytime

Many Altcoins are not liquid but have no official notice or some have not yet been censored, so it has not removed from CMC. Also, CMC accepts ADS if anyone accepts the fee.

The best coin is already on the top coin market page in CMC, the whole data is still counting all crypto basically only the overall accumulation IMO is not a coin that has a future too, but which has been listed on the exchange only.

Illusion makes it easy to speculate and make money with wrong beliefs but some tools can let us elaborate on the essential needs in these arguments. Depending on the coin's market cap some analyze site can ignore it and take another one for review. Competition makes it hard to level up.

CMC is a platform for listing projects that have a minimum trade volume with more than one exchange listed. CMC does not do a job to verify projects authenticity. Much like an online platform where people can buy ads. Why do you think CMC put ads manually? It can happen that CMC manage all things automated, so anyone can place a banner on their site. Well, at least they have some requirements for coin or token to be listed on their site such as daily trading volume.
It means a brand new coin cannot be listed on Coinmarketcap unless they have listed on some exchanges to gain volume.
Many coins dead in coinmarketcap because they were not developing anymore.

To some extent you cant blame them they are not responsible for scam token what they just do is to list a coin so that crypto community can easily track the coin price and other activities and for fake volume on cmc, the fault is from the exchange it self. I agree that they're not responsible for those scam tokens but people are relying to their data all these years so they must take full responsibility to the legitimacy or reliability of the exchanges were their data comes from. At least they aren't denying this issue and this would be a great help to polish the truthfulness of every existing exchanges.

in any case, I do not see any compelling reason not to trust this resource.  The information provided about cryptocurrencies is generally known and generally available, so CMC is a useful project that most users of cryptocurrency use.

Market will sort out scam projects anyway from the marketplace. They have no stay long term. Fake volumes

Removing those crap coins means we can't track them anymore. Better to see how they are performing in the current exchanges. At least we have some reference to check about them. Marketcap is for you to be able to see what is the price of some coin, well some site has advertising also not only cmc it was for you if you are going to buy them or not, well research is important thing also to avoid scam paroject. CMC will be going to be listed if the coin has three good exchange and it has a volume it was not fault of cmc if the owner of the project left it.
