Not very surprising. India contributes to more than 80% of the cricket viewership figures (if you add the expats as well) and if you take the TRP ratings for the entire tournament, then IPL will be far ahead of CWC 2019. On top of that the interest in 50 over matches is diminishing, as the younger fans are shifting towards the T20 format.

I’ll agree there’s huge number of Indians watching IPL, however I feel over the years it has become a global tournament. I don’t think it’s fair to compare T20 matches with 50 over matches, as both are different and entertaining in their own ways. When you speak of diminishing interest in 50 overs I feel you’re wrong about it, as the 50 over match between India vs Pakistan in the World Cup will break all viewership record of t20 matches.

From my view there is nothing as T20 and 50 overs ODI, everything is viewed as cricket. If a survey is taken for the viewers there might be small difference which is based on the time taken for the completion of a match.

A T20 match takes approximately 3 hours, and although it is still longer than a football match, most of the people can afford to spend that much time in front of the TV. Anyway, I don't want to make too many assumptions. What I will do is that I will compare the TRP figures for the IPL final with the CWC final, once these tournaments are over (I guess the data for India will be available from the BARC website). Will post here once the data is available.

Agreed. The T20 tournaments have changed the Cricketing world in a big way and they have become my favorites(Domestic and International).

IPL is my favorite followed by the T20 World Cup which provide entertaining contests in a short span of time.

When it comes to an ODI, it is big as spending a whole day onto the match. With T20 though it takes half the time of an ODI viewers find the time getting passed very fast. In simple terms when there is an ODI viewers just view the score through some apps and when it is a T20 people intend to watch the entire match.

Anyone following the score of Pakistan Women vs South Africa Women T20 match. I think the favorite is Pakistan here although they scored only 128 runs after losing 5 wickets.

In response South Africa Women managed to score 70 runs for one wicket after 13 over so far. I have seen other day a women t20 and I can tell you these 128 runs to chase a lot for them LOL.

Well South Africa won having one ball in hand. I think the women cricket is not that much entertaining. These days people like to see high scoring matches and if you see the women cricket then you will see they don't score much.

Well, being a woman I hardly ever watch these women's matches. They are not as exciting as the men's matches. There are no big hitters like Kohli or Warner and the pace bowlers don't have the speeds that Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins possess. Even the spin bowling is without variety. I have watched a few matches (long back), but never found it entertaining enough.

I still don't understand why women play cricket ? Is it just compulsory that every game should have a women version of it too ?

There are few games which are only suited to Men and cricket is one of them.

@Royse777 I didn’t watch the match live but time to time I was seeing the scores online, this match was not entertaining enough for me and I’m glad many here feel the same way. While low scoring chasing matches are fun to watch once in a while, but the problem with women’s cricket is that each and every match of theirs turns out to be low scoring. What’s ironic is that South Africa batted 119 balls out of 120 to chase a small target of 128 runs, and towards the end I felt bad for the spectators who came to watch them.

No I'm not watching this T20 blast as I don't get these matches here to watch. I am interested in the up coming T20 World Cup qualifier matches to see which team can qualify for the next T20 World Cup. Nepal have been on the improve recently so I'm thinking that they will win and qualify.

The initial draft for the Euro T20 Slam 2019 got completed yesterday and the mainstream media chose not to cover it. A total of 6 teams are participating, including two each from the Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland. You can get the full team composition here:

India’s captain Virat will have a point to prove after he failed to take his side in the finals of the World Cup, and he’ll want to win this series to silence his critics. Ms Dhoni inclusion and exclusion from this series is sure to create a big debate, what do you’ll think should he be selected or should he be dropped?.

Yes, T20 series between India and West Indies will be an interesting one. Although west Indies team is ranked at number 9 in T20 ICC ranking but they will be an altogether different team in their home country. 
By the way india team is ranked at number 5 in T20 rankings.

Are you sure about it that he did not make any announcement about his retirement ? In the fist Semi final of the WC,  when Dhoni was run out, i clearly heard the commentator saying that this is the last time we see Dhoni on the match. 

Even i have found the commentary from the cricinfo where the commentator saying that "Dhoni is run out for the last time"

This is quite possible that he would like to retire in India by playing for India in India itself . This will give him a good platform to retire in front of his own country people and bid adieu to the cricket. That may be the reason he might have just not announced the retirement yet.
