I just had a look at the headline mentioning that Aussies lost their T20 warm-up match. This is quite surprising for me as Pakistanis have made some stupidly big changes in their T20 squad.

Did Warner, Smith, and other big stars play in this match? Searched a lot but there ain't any scorecard available of this match.

No this was tour match against some local boys big show is coming on Sunday.

Y'all just wait and see; David Warner is gonna settle all his scores in the match series against Pakistan. Ricky Ponting has put way too much faith in him, and it's time that he proves himself once again!

Yesterday Scotland defeated Oman in the 5th place playoff during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier. Oman lost the game, despite scoring a big total (167/7), as Matthew Cross and Michael Leask chased the total with relative ease. The semi-finals will be played tomorrow (Ireland vs Netherlands, and PNG vs Namibia), while the final and the 3rd place playoffs will be played on Sunday. But these matches no longer matters much, as the big prize (qualification to 2020 T20 World Cup) have been decided already.

I was expecting some sort of firework from Kiwi batsmen but only Daryl Mitchell showed some character and other batsmen acted like a dud, hitting six then back to pavilion.

Nowadays most of the big teams don't include their best players for the T20 matches and reserve them for mostly the ODI/Test format. For the test match, England has sent a very strong squad. However for the T20 series, they have excluded big names such as Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, Rory Burns and Jos Buttler. They are doing the right thing. The T20 world cup is around the corner and they need to find a few T20 specialists among the younger players.

On the other hand, New Zealand has included most of their big names, such as Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson. Kane Williamson is missing due to injury. It was surprising to watch Pat Brown appearing for England for today's match. He was expensive, but got the crucial wicket of Ross Taylor. Apart from Brown, most of the English attack composed of familiar faces such as Rashid, Jordan and Sam Curran. For New Zealand, the performance by Daryl Mitchell was encouraging.

NZ was lucky enough to get a decent score. Thanks to Taylor and Mitchell. Right now England are on 26 runs without any wicket. Bairstow is playing good cricket so far. Let's see if he is able to keep like this till the end.

Its good and effective strategy but i don't see many teams following this pattern. Except India regularly, on couple of occasion Australia and in today's match England.

I wasn't aware of Williamson's injury as @bryant.coleman pointed out. Eng just lost their 3rd wicket but still they should win the game  easily.

England won the game. Kiwis played good today but England played better than them. Now I am wondering what went wrong for the Kiwis was it their bowling or batting? Their batsman put up a decent score. 150-160 is decent IMO in T-20 games. Their bowlers maybe? Except for Santner, all the bowlers had economy over 6. Their fast bowlers leaked many runs.

What a game we had and England played well and did some good batting to win the game . All batsman in England team played well and this helped the team to chase the score easily with 7 wickets remaining . A good contest overall to watch the game .

England just dominated the match and chased the score easily even without some of their top players, they have a good bench strength for the shorter format and they will be a challenge for any team in the upcoming T20 world cup, Australia and England proved to be miles away from the rest of the teams and they are the strong contenders and whether any team can come close against them is to be seen.

I do agree that England won this one pretty easily thanks to Bairstow, Vince and Morgan, but I feel like you are over-estimating them a bit too much. New Zealand performed in an average manner through out the World Cup(Depending heavily on Williamson).

This is why NZ losing in such a manner especially without Willy is not surprising. If England is hit in the right spot, they will collapse.

Yeah quite agree that they performed average. NZ are so much rich with all-rounders and they should start thinking of coming up with Neesham or perhaps Anderson if he is playing. Will add variety of options in bowling as well.

BTW we have T-20 WC Men Qualifiers semifinals today:

And SL vs Aus 3rd and the last T-20 of the series. Hope SL wins the last one and avoids a whitewash.

For a change in this match Australia won the ton and elected to field and Srilanka already lost two wickets for 36 runs and if Srilanka can post a big score and pick some quick wickets including the top three batsman then the rest of the players are inexperienced and can put more pressure and win the match, good plan to write down but whether they are able to do that is another story  .

Nope.. not today.. these matches are scheduled for tomorrow and in India both the matches will be broadcast on Star Sports 3. The finals will be played on Sunday, and ironically the final match is not being shown on TV (Star Sports will be broadcasting highlights from some past matches instead). I am happy with the semi-final lineup, as all the four teams are close to 100% consisting of native players. Personally, I want Netherlands and Papua New Guinea to win their matches, as these two are the most deserving ones.

Also, there is another edition of the T20 World Cup in 2021. There will be no global qualifier for that tournament. Instead the Super 12 teams would be gaining automatic entry, and the remaining 4 teams will be selected from the five regional qualifiers (one each from Asia, Europe and Americas, and the fourth team from the winner of the playoff between East Asia Pacific and Africa). The ICC is claiming that there is not enough time available to conduct a global qualifier tournament for the 2021 world cup.

Apart from Perera, no one really impressed me in the Sri Lankan team in this series including Malinga(So far). Looks like Warner and Finch will finish this match on their own at this point. Sri Lankans continue to struggle.

Way too many one sided matches these days across all formats. This is why I miss tournaments like the IPL where underdogs end up winning when we least expect them to.

Lol that's not gonna happen. I don't think that this current Srilankan team will ever manage to get past 160. And btw, just like the 1st two match Aussies won the match by 7 wickets with ease. And wow Warner didn't get dismissed in all 3 matches in the series

Warner is back in prime form and won three man of the match awards back to back and won the man of the series to show his presence after a long stretch of low scores with an average of 217 in this series as no one was able to get his wicket and if he could continue this form then it will put Australia in prime position to win the next T20 world cup along with England as they too have a strong line up of hard hitters in their team.

England does have a really strong team in the T20 format and i am not over estimating them, New Zealand is known as a dark horse in all the world cup because they are capable of defeating anyone on a given day if they perform well but you usually will not see that kind of performance consistently .

This is why NZ losing in such a manner especially without Willy is not surprising. If England is hit in the right spot, they will collapse.

That can be said about any team in any sport, hit on the right spot and anyone can collapse.

Warner is basically one of the most entertaining left handed batsmen I have ever seen. The manner in which he strikes the ball with so much power is something else. This is why Pointing continues to bet on him despite his recent failures.

In the long term, both Warner and Smith are extraordinary. However, you are forgetting that the West Indian and Indian teams also have their fair share of hard hitters(MSD being one of them). It is going to be a fantastic tournament.

There is a real chance that the upcoming T20 match between India and Sri Lanka may be shifted from New Delhi. The air pollution level has been rated as "Hazardous" in that city and previously teams (both domestic and international) have refused to play in Delhi due to the high pollution levels. We still have a week to go for the match, so it is possible for the BCCI to move the match to some other location.

What you forgot is the fact that the pitch at Melbourne was very supportive of the batsmen. Also, you are ignoring the fact that one of the key Australian players skipped this match (Ben McDermott came in for Glenn Maxwell). IMO, I couldn't find any improvement in the performance of Sri Lanka. We'll talk about their improvement when they are able to win matches.
