This is his pattern of play, and he used to perform well in the important matches. Lets see what's going to happen in the upcoming matches. Captaincy of MSD is really appreciable, he brought Moeen Ali at the right time and had a break of partnership.

There is no denying the captaincy skills of MSD and he is a master in controlling the match even if you have mediocre bowlers. But the only issue i see is that, why is he coming way down the order with the striking skills he has, today he came down to bat at 8 which is ridiculous.

Maybe he thought of giving opportunities and understand whom need to be placed on which order in the upcoming matches. Even at the eighth position he came, scored 12 runs and caught out.

Till the last LSG fought as it have got batting line-up till the last. 16th over from Deshpande is awesome that he conceded just 6 runs. Though it isn't a comfortable win, it is good that CSK have started its points on the table.

CSK has the weakest bowling unit and they are not planning to change that in this season as well and once MSD retired there is no way they are going to win matches with this bowling unit.

Agreed, during the opening overs the runs were at 18 runs per over. Ben Stokes who was in rest have come to bowl and gave 18 runs. Deshpande bowled better, but it looked like he's in fear as he continued to bowl wide and no balls. CSK is much of batting dependent than the bowling unit. Based on which we can predict the outcome of the match. If the team failed to score 180+ runs in any match against any team, it is going to be loss for CSK.

Has anyone watched this season IPl with bhojpuri commentary? If not you should try it once. It is hilarious whenever a 4 or 6 is hit by the batter and it becomes unberiably hilarious when a bowler gets a wicket. There are three versions of bhojpuri commentary for wickets. Which are when a batter gets bowled, caught and in the end LBW. Everything that the commentator says is not understandable but it really makes the game more engaging.

Even the Hindi language commentary is full of energy which we usually do not find in English commentaries.

Regarding yesterday's match, Chennai super kings won by 12 runs but it was good contest where both the teams scored over 200 runs. Every body from Lucknow Super Giants chipped in,  Kyle Mayers made 50+ run but in the end the target was too big for LSK to chase. I would say that they really tried their best and did not give up like other teams.

The performance of KL Rahul is not up to the par for a long time, he failed to perform when he was with the Indian team and that lack of form is continuing in the IPL, my prediction is that he will regain his form in one of the matches and he will score a huge century to silence the critics and then everyone will forget about him unless he fails miserably yet again.

Moeen Ali and Mitchell Santner won the match for Chennai Super Kings. All the credit went to Moeen, because he was the wicket taker. But then, Santner did an exceptional job, by conceding just 21 runs from 4 overs, in a match where the required run rate was around 11 runs per over. Moeen and Santner together bowled 8 overs, conceded 47 runs and picked up 5 wickets (Santner got the wicket of Deepak Hooda). KL Rahul failed once again for the Lucknow Super Giants, and only Kyle Mayers and Nicholas Pooran made a score of more than 30.

If Rituraj Gaikwad continues to play throughout this season as he has in the previous two games. He might get selected for the ODI team for the world cup. Hands down to Thala once again, I would love to see more of such power-hitting sixes. 217 was a big target and at one point when Myers was batting, I thought LSG would easily chase the target. CSK should have allowed the LSG captain to stay on the pitch for 20 overs. It would have made their win easy. This guy might get removed as a captain of LSG if he continues his bad form. 20 runs in 17 balls I guess he forgot that he is playing a 20 over match.

Regarding yesterday's match, Chennai super kings won by 12 runs but it was good contest where both the teams scored over 200 runs. Every body from Lucknow Super Giants chipped in,  Kyle Mayers made 50+ run but in the end the target was too big for LSK to chase. I would say that they really tried their best and did not give up like other teams.

Dhoni's two sixes made all the difference ultimately since they ended up winning by 12 runs. Players like Jadeja, Rahul etc are out of form these days which is sad to see since they were extremely consistent before.

Mayers and Rituraj keep delivering amazing performances again and again. CSK and LSG need to improve their bowling performances if they wish to qualify for the playoffs.

He has done well so far in this season, with scores of 92 and 57 (against Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants respectively). And thanks to him, Chennai Super Kings are in a comfortable position as far as IPL points table is considered.

Shubman Gill is someone with powerful backers. He can't be grouped in the same category as Rahul Tripathi or Ruturaj Gaikwad. Anyway, at this point there is not enough room to accommodate a lot of the younger players in the national side. Many of the senior players take part in all the three formats of the game, and this means that younger players need to wait until multiple players become unavailable due to injury or other reasons in order to get a national team selection call. What the BCCI needs to do is to restrict players such as Kohli and Rohit to test format. India can afford to have three separate squads for three different formats of the game.

Gill is a good batter, he does take a little time to settle but after that he will only stop after scoring at least a half century. If Gaikwad continues with his form then I have a gut feeling that he will be part of the ODI squad. For T20 he might replace Ishan Kishan as a opener with Gill. Kishan's performance has been going down consistently.

Moeen Ali has made an important contribution to the victory of CSK in this match. Moeen Ali came in to bowl when the team needed wickets and single-handedly kept the flying Lakhnao Super Joint at bay.

But not without praising Moeen Ali's brilliant bowling as well as Mahendra Singh Dhoni's superb captaincy. Because he brought CSK back into the game through bowling changes at crucial times. When K Mayers was batting at a 250 plus strike rate on the wicket and was hitting all the big names with one boundary after another, Captain Cool trusted Moeen Ali. And Moeen Ali repaid the captain's trust. K Mayers and Lokesh Rahul were dismissed by Moeen Ali to pave the way to the pavilion and bring CSK back into the match.

All in all yesterday's match was really great for Chennai Super Kings. Because they both performed well with the bat.  However, Lucknow Super Giant did not give up so easily and conceded defeat by just 12 runs in the last over.
