If not having athletic build is a disadvantage, then how come the Indian men are dominating international cricket for the last one decade? IMO, the main reason is experience. Overseas players are mostly from Australia and England, and they spend most of their time playing franchise T20 cricket. On the other hand, Indian women don't play as much cricket as these overseas players. And when they do, it is mostly ODI format. Also, Indian domestic cricket for women is mostly focused on the ODI format.

The gap is not between Indian and overseas players, but between capped and uncapped players. Overseas players in general have performed well till now, as most of them have prior experience in WBBL and W100. Fielding needs a lot of improvement and I don't think that we will witness a very large change within the next 1-2 seasons. It would have been a good idea to include 5 overseas players in the XI. But then the BCCI put additional rider that one of the players should be from associate nation. Given the aversion towards associate players from the IPL franchises, only one of them have used this loophole to increase the overseas quota to 5 (Delhi Capitals Women, who brought in Tara Norris).

Actually, some of the uncapped players like Shreyanka Patil (RCB), Kanika Ahuja (RCB) and Saika Ishaque (MI) did quite well with the bat and ball (there are a couple of more) and on the other hand capped players like Deepti is disappointing with the bat so far. Another name is Renuka Singh, i consider her a fine bowler but she's going in a different direction.

Overall batting performance is not up to the mark (Capped players) if we leave Mandana, Shaifali, Jemimah and Harman. Richa Ghosh has a bright future and clean hitter of the ball so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and a long rope.

@Haunebu pointed out an important aspect. You countered his point with Men's team example. I'd say In professional sports, being athletic is also very important. It's not related to skill at all but endurance, it reflects clearly when you are chasing the ball or running between the wickets, these are important parts as well.

Being a skilled batter or bowler is a necessity but at the same time, if you are athletic on the field, it enhances your performance and 2-3 seconds difference can make a big impact in crunch moments like you can save runs, steal extra singles, can take blinder catch etc and if you are strong then can hit big too with the bat. We do have a fine example of Jemimah Rodrigues. She's not big so can't hit sixes much (although she's a skilled batter) but when she's on the outfield or running between the wickets she looks gorgeous.

Asian women teams still don't have the level of perfection and game like Australia,  England as these teams have played plenty of leagues and they are way stronger than Indians or any other team.
But with time they'll definitely improve.

But I am optimistic that India women's cricket will also gradually become stronger. Moreover, India is a populous country where it is possible to find strong and good players. Since women's cricket has started, the Indian team will produce better cricketers in the future. The way men's cricket is currently leading the world. I think women's cricket will also see a similar picture if it expands.

Women's Indian Premier League (WIPL) is an excellent opportunity for players to showcase their abilities. Team collaboration between foreign players can also enhance player's tactics, resulting in a better performance overall. Following the participation of this domestic competition allows cricketers from all over the globe to be added to a team, which is crucial for the growth of the women's cricket. WIPL authorities should be thank of their continuous efforts to support the growth of women's cricket. Although it won't happen overnight, but gradually women's cricket will also be leading the world like men's.

Well.. it's a mixed bag. I saw one match where Saika Ishaque picked up two wickets for 26 runs (her second match in WPL, against the Royal Challengers Bangalore Women). She was quite impressive. And I agree on Deepti and Renuka. In case of Deepti, it is surprising, since she was on good form during the world cup. Renuka is out of form for the last few months, so it was expected. Top Indian players in general have performed well, including Harmanpreet, Shafali, Shikha, Smriti and Harleen.

One of the most frustrating things that I have noticed so far in the WPL has been the poor fielding from some of the Indian players. In T20 format, where the winning margin can be very thin, these missed chances and additional runs may prove decisive in the end. Even capped Indian players were dropping easy chances and giving away runs in the form of misfields. I guess quality coaching by the franchises and a strict training regimen will make an impact on this sector within the next 1-2 years. But again, it has to do more with the fitness level than the body build.

The Womens Premier League has just started. So the change in Indian women's cricket will not be visible right now. But if the next 2-3 seasons are completed successfully then we can bring big changes in women's cricket. And by this time the Indian Cricket Board will be able to produce some good women players. It can be said that the fortunes of women cricketers have started to open up. Women cricketers not only from India but from all over the world are encouraged to participate in this league and further development of women's cricket will be achieved.

I did not expect this type of total from the Giants. We saw the Giants get all out for probably only 64 in the first match of this tournament. It seems like whenever any team is playing against RCB, they become a really good team LMFAO.

Anyway, RCB is not being able to keep up with the run rate at all. Right now they need more than 13.9 runs per over. With 7 overs remaining, it is going to be a really tough ask for RCB to win this match.

I was also not expecting entertainment like this from this WIPL because this was first edition with many uncapped players and completely different conditions for many local girls, but still first few matches are giving results with bundle of runs and here these girls are going to have good experience while these are joined by big Aussies and English women's which are having good experience of playing cricket in all conditions now I have feeling in coming years things are going more interesting which is good for the game and women's as well.

Now, here we have to praise BCCI as well for bringing this new rule which is going to have good change in coming days as well because if this is going to be successful then surely other boards are also going to use this for their leagues as well.

The women RCB team like their men counterpart is also jinxed. Whatever they do on the field doesn't help them to win matches. On paper both men and women team look absolutely brilliant but on field they struggle. I am not sure what is wrong with this team. I thought first that they would easily set a target of 200+ runs but unfortunately they could not. 190 was still a competitive target but RCB bowlers were very ineffective against Giants batters especially Sophia.

Instead of having Decision Review System (DRS) to challenge the wide calls from umpires, why can't the BCCI ask the third umpire to call them? Already the no-balls are being called by the third umpire, and the on-field umpires don't need to worry about bowlers overstepping. This can be extended to wides as well, which will take away a large part of the burden form the on-field umpires. When the technology is available, then it should be used. On the other hand, if DRS is used on such occasions, then it will only result in wastage of time.

With the ODI we can't predict the win of the teams. At any point the match can turn. In most of the matches the scoring used to be at 10 runs per over for the first ten overs with 1/2 wickets fallen. In the next ten overs the team could've lost every wickets scoring 40-50 runs.

The debut players were much expected based on what they've performed in their first class matches and the BPL. However both were completely different atmosphere, guidance from players like Shakib Al Hasan will help them progress and do the best. The average scoring in Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium is around 160 runs and this looks to be high scoring match.

Only 3 hours left the T20 match will start. However, England T20 team is very strong and there are definitely doubts about how well Bangladesh team will do against them. Because they can't perform well in T20 as they perform in ODI matches. Bangladesh have just finished their T20 franchise based event BPL so those who have done well will have a chance. If England's batsmen can get a big hit in their own field, then the result of the match can change. Both the teams will try their best in the first match.

I believe DRS for height no balls and wides are fairly practical because there is a minor difference.

There is no room for bowlers to challenge the umpire when their foot crosses the line as during the deliveries they can't see their front foot due to their follow through but for wides or height no ball everybody can see be it the bowler or striker so it does make sense to take DRS if there is reasonable doubt.

160 runs is a fighting score for any team in T20 cricket.  Especially if the game is played in Bangladesh, then 160 runs is the maximum. T20 first match will be held at Chittagong Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. We generally know that the runs in that stadium are a little higher than in Dhaka.  So 160 runs we can get fighting score for any team.
