So, i got this message:

Quote
Sorry nobytes, you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
You have been permanently banned by a forum moderator, probably due to spam or plagiarism. You may appeal here, but your chances are not good: banappeals...@theymos.e4ward.com

Now, i have read the rules and still got banned, and i've been pondering what could be the reason so i don't repeat it.
Only message i could pinpoint it to is one gif message that got removed a way back before the ban. It was a response to a troll meltdown that i found hilarious and i admit it was not constructive.

But if that was not the reason, i really would like to know what it was.
My accout was "nobytes"
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1137389

I find this especially furious because i have been blocking trolls that don't get banned to choose the higher road and trying not to feed/argue them, but their accounts seem to be thriving.

Moderators won't perma- ban your account for just one post, plagiarism , that is the reason why your account was perma-banned...

If it was not your own words, and you ended-up performing a <Ctrl-C> <Ctrl-V> then yes, you should have added a reference to the source.
It seems that @Rigorous did the same, both omiting a reference to https://www.wipo.int/patents/en.

Your mistake, because your account is forbidden because: copy / paste, plagiarism.

@YOSHIE, So putting copied text in quotes and mentioning the source doesn't help my case either? Nice to know.
I don't want to quote the Wikipedia's definition of plagiarism, because of getting banned of plagiarism in here, but i don't think that that definition applies.

I am just linking it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plagiarism#cite_note-RandomHouse95-1

If all you did was put that text in a quote box, I think it might have been more acceptable. To answer your question though, one instance of plagiarism is enough for a permanent ban; plagiarism has become one of the biggest problems we face most often.

For Example

Quote
"(a)while purchasing Tokens you acknowledge that you are not a permanent residence permit (green card) holder in the United States of America, or (ii) a citizen or a resident (tax or otherwise) of the United States of America, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, or any other possessions of the United States of America, or People's Republic of China, or a person of these countries or territories or (iii) a citizen or resident (tax or otherwise) of any country or territory where transactions with digital tokens and/or digital currencies are prohibited or in any other manner restricted by applicable law."

Now that I've done this, it is fairly obvious that they are not my own words. To go a step further, and every-time you Copy-Paste text, you should also Copy-Paste the link that it came from.

You can quit pretending. Your ladder-bumping shitpuppet account would have been banned regardless of whether someone else quoted it or not.

Are you going to expand your patent on the other regions as you grow in order to not get it stolen on other regions?

Can you explain a bit further how this works? Do patents only work for regions?

That is indeed how patents work.

Patents are territorial rights. In general, the exclusive rights are only applicable in the country or region in which a patent has been filed and granted, in accordance with the law of that country or region.

You have to file for patent coverage within the countries you seek to be able to assert your patent rights.

So a big multinational with plans for a global rollout of his product needs to patent his product in every country? and different countries probably have diffrent requirements for patents. Pfffff.....

This is really strange. So you have to patent your product in China to avoid that they build it million times ...

As if China cares about patents, hahahahaha

While there are lot's of piratism on the patent and copyriht area in China, they are currently fighting it with a lot of new innovations but explaining that further would be just shilling other projects on this thread and i'll pass on further explanation.

Putting it in quotes is acceptable but just like what bill gator said its not enough to put quotation marks in your post without even mentioning the source. But don't mind what YOSHIE has said I think Mr. Big's quoted posts from you and the other member is the reason why you got banned, he might be the forum moderator who spotted your plagiarized post.

Thanks, it was an older post so might be a script too. Anyway, i will be more careful in the future and put quotes in quote boxes instead of "quotes" in the future and just start fresh account then.

This particular post should be acceptable because the context of the post is clearly quoting another source.

The post that hilarious quoted is not acceptable IMO. I am not sure if there are other examples of plagiarism or not.

Completely agree.

He should have included a direct link to their "ICO page", and he should have placed the quoted text in a proper quotes box, but he has still made a clear indication that he is not the author of the text and it instead comes from their "ICO page". That's doesn't warrant a ban. The other post, however, does.
