Those moments were good moments we had,and for some times to come,we won't see those moments to watch our countries perform again in that tournament.Thank God for the kickoff of new seasons soon,our favourite teams will play, and we will be enthusiastic about their performances. I think this Italian win will be the start of a dominant period for them. I think they must be up there for favorites of the world cup along with Brazil too.

As much as the world would like to see these guys win, these competitions tend to leave out the favourites off the podium

If France can get their act together they might be in the running for it too but I can't see that happening since they are a team full of individuals and not a functioning team.

Not that am arguing but Sometimes it's individual effort that wins games and it's up to France to find what works best for them because they have a quality time and I would root for them to win.

Italy just seem to have it all and are a great defensive team under pressure which is needed to win the big games. 

Agreed. For the Euros they did put up a good show but those draws are dangerous match deciders, if they are to win bigger competitions they  need to start winning games inside open play and also practice more on penalties.

Life could be so boring after the competition, sometimes, it just feels as though it isn't enough you know. Like there should be more competitions for athletes to compete at and by that, I mean football competition but then, it just can't be as these  athletes needs a time out too. A time to be off the pitch and live life with little restrictions, having fun with the family.

Sooner or latter, the games would come up again and this time, with lots of new players in various teams and leagues to spice up things a little more. Can't wait to be glued to my TV onces more. EPL in few weeks and again, a big congrats to Italy, they did my proud with England.

Italy may be in good form but not to forget that in the world cup there will be many strong South American teams like Argentina and brazil (we cannot ignore them even though their recent form is questionable). Also its rare to see any team winning both the Euro and World cup at the same time.

Anyone who has watched both the Copa America and Euro Cup this month would agree that the former competition had more quality. This time, I found the performance from the European teams somewhat disappointing. Many of the teams went with individual-specific strategies and lacked team cohesion. On the other hand, the matches in Copa America (even at the group stage) were fiercely contested and the team bonding and coordination was exceptional for the majority of the teams that took part.

I know perfectly well the format of the tournament and the reason for its existence. This format has both pros and cons, and we can probably accept the existing formula as more or less balanced, but there are other ulterior motives for the ongoing expansion of teams from all over the world in the final part. This is corruption. Football officials are kind of bribing countries with a small national team strength with these format changes, because their votes in FIFA are no different from those of countries where football is highly developed. I don't think it will lead to anything good.

But what changes are you talking about?
I didn't find anything about changes in the World Cup of Countries.
I have only heard about a proposal to increase the number of countries to participate. But nothing concrete yet.

Probably I incorrectly expressed because it kept in mind the general trend. It consists of many things, if you take FIFA, then this is an endless expansion of the geography of the championship where the choice of the host country takes place in a covert struggle with bribes and the like, I think you have heard about this. If we are talking about UEFA, then this is an increase in the number of teams participating in the Champions League, where now 30-35 percent of champions participate in the main tournament, and if we consider that many champions from weak countries cannot compete even with average teams from football countries, then most the tournament turns out to be rather dull.
In general, I am dissatisfied with the fact that if any changes take place, they worsen the existing situation, and those changes that are needed (for example, to raise the level of participants in the final part of the World Championship) are not made because of "tradition" and for fear of infringing on the weak.

It's a pity for the England team when they have the most potential and promising players.  I still don't understand why Sterling, who wasn't outstanding, was crucified on the pitch for the remaining 120 minutes?  Lol

Yes they were the favourite in the game but they lacked the initiative after scoring a goal they pushed back in the defence and that is a mistake many clubs do especially when they have quality players i do not know if its the manager order or not but clearly that was a mistake and adding to that a poor choice in players for the penalties shootout choosing players who entered in the last minute of the game for the critical final two penalties is southgate mistake and he is partially to blame.

Nobody is to be blamed for England's lost,they all tried their best,it wasn't just their turn.Nobody was nominated to play the penalties,they indicated they will play by raising up their hands. I know England deserved to win,but experience was what matters in such finals like that.Italy squad is packed with experience people,but England used their young players.

Everything needs to be rewinded and dissected to find mistakes and change.  It's clear to me that Gareth Southgate made a big mistake by leaving the midfield free.  Why keep Sterling and not let the spiritual leader Jordan Henderson on the field.  What Sterling does with Italy's big defenders and centre-backs, is like headbutting the wall.

Technically you may be correct that Copa America had more competitive matches but this time around all the attention was in Euro 2020. The reason was that the crowds were not allowed in copa america. I watched both the tournaments but Copa America was lacking the crowds and its seems somewhat dull as compare to the Euro 2020.

Mbappe takes the attention away from that with his ability but without him they wouldn't be a very good team. Italy just seem to have it all and are a great defensive team under pressure which is needed to win the big games. 

Of course it's a good capital for Italy, but I don't think Italy will be able to maintain that achievement for the world cup but indeed, to reach the semi-finals or maybe the final, I think it's still possible but for the champions I still have doubts for now. Also, I'm not sure about Brazil as you said, considering if the squad they have is like the Copa America, I don't think it's the best squad for Brazil, so it's difficult to appear further in the world cup later. But regarding France, of course this EURO will be a big lesson for their squad and I'm sure France will be able to improve on that and can play with more teamwork and not about individuals.

Don’t forget that the last South American nation to win the World Cup was Brazil back in 2002, almost 20 years ago.
South America has very good football players but historically, since 1950, only Brazil and Argentina have won world championships, while many more European nations have won world championships, such as Germany, Italy, France, Spain and England.
It can be said that Europe is much stronger than South America because Europe has more strong football nations that always have a chance to win the World Cup.
Brazil and Argentina have been in crisis lately and it remains to be seen how ready and good they will be at World Cup next year.

Copa America and EURO are two different competition with different styles of play. Which question is the best may depend on the perspective of each of us. I like these two competition but I prefer to watch EURO match than Copa America because many European countries have quality players and are already famous in domestic league such as EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A and others compared to players in Copa America. Copa America is synonymous with fast and hard play by relying on physical combined with technique, while EURO relies more on technique than physical. That's what make me prefer to watch the EURO game over the Copa America.

Agree with you there. You can't compare the two competitions, because the Copa-America is not as high in quality as the European Championship. You have Brazil and Argentina, two top teams, and next up is Uruguay, and then there's a bigger gap. In Europe you have five six top teams like Italy, France, Germany, England, Spain, Portugal and Croatia. That's why it's less of an achievement to win the Copa America than the European Championship.

Agree with you there. You can't compare the two competitions, because the Copa-America is not as high in quality as the European Championship. You have Brazil and Argentina, two top teams, and next up is Uruguay, and then there's a bigger gap. That's why it's less of an achievement to win the Copa America than the European Championship.

The Copa America and the Euro cannot be compared. There is no strong team in the Copa America now except Brazil and Argentina. The Uruguayan team is quite good but they are not stable. On the other hand, all the teams in the Euro are good enough. The competition in the euro is much higher.

Well.. I would not say that the FIFA/UEFA guys are all angels, but they did a lot of good things in the past to increase the popularity of the sport. Football is now the no.1 sport in the world, partly due to their efforts. I have seen other governing bodies such as the ICC (cricket) function, and I would say that the situation with football is much better. Now coming to the topic of the Confederations Cup, one of the issues may be related to the COVID situation. The revenue calculation also plays a part. For FIFA, it is more profitable to hold a club world cup, rather than the Confederations Cup. It benefits the fans as well. For example, there are huge number of fans for European clubs such as Real Madrid and Manchester United in Asia. But they never get the opportunity to see any of these clubs take on opponents from Asia.

No doubt,Euro 2020 competition was more intensive and severe than the cops America because the way big teams were knocked out of the competition is something no one expected.Seeing Italy win the tournament is something that look like a shock to many people because we have teams like Germany,Belgium being knocked out of the tournament by the teams we never expected.Unarguably,all the teams that qualified for the tournament were ready and fully prepared to go far in the tournament,which added more intensity and cohesion as you said to the game.
