Edit: This Thread was playing along with Theymos's April Fools Joke. No, i do not endorse KYC for BTT and i'm a proponent for all privacy.

Theymos is really witty on choosing the topics for April fools.
This forum is based on the principals of satoshi him/herself.
And satoshi would never ask you for your personal informations.
Though if in high demand, they can implement KYC for bounty participants. I would rather provide my KYC to the forum than every projects.

I was also wondering why I got an ad about KYC, thanks guys ... I do not understand why you are against privacy? if it is one of the main ideals of Satoshi nakamoto ... we do not seek to be anonymous, we simply want to maintain a certain privacy

I was shocked, because it was for real, not an april fool's game. If its better for the forum, I'm in unto it and its necessary in order that no more spammers and alternate accounts. I also think that we should submit a true identity, not the fake ones. So, goodluck.

I am thinking about when i open the forum then see this kyc information and it takes time before i realise that this is an April fools joke. Especially when i saw that i need to provide my past relationship it makes me laugh hard, well i did provide my information and i have no problem doing kyc even if it's real or not.

Yes, it was a good joke. I myself was a little surprised at first and scared by the appearance at the top of the main page of the news that now for further work on the forum you need to pass the KYC check. However, when I read the questions that needed to be answered, I realized that something was wrong here. And I remembered that today is April Fool's Day - jokes are possible everywhere. All happy fool's day!

I think that everyone out here are surprised, also me and I'm just done with my kyc here in bitcointalk. I also feel comfortable doing kyc here in btt rather than filling kyc in any of the ico projects out there. Great idea and concept that theymos has planned, i think the forum would be nicer if everyone would undergo their kyc.

That's a good idea. I have done all the procedure and verified myself as you will see the verified tag in my profile within couple of minutes. Everyone should do that to prevent scammers. Our forum is full of scammers. theymos took a right decision at last. No one can enroll now with more than 1 account.
Beside, please notice today is April 1st because it will be asked when you want to get back your account once it is hacked.

Well, this is obviously an April fools development but if Theymos is serious about this one, I'm willing to participate but not to the extent of my past and present lovers.  Grin A great job for Theymos on this one, he really got everyone here and at least make a panic for a moment.

Checking my bitcointalk account this morning with words written in red I asked myself what is this again? I immediately call a friend of mine to check his account also and he said the same. I clicked on the KYC link and I can see clearly is a prank. I don't think KYC needs your blood group and your cc details for you to be verified

I like your dedication towards the KYC. Maybe you have submitted your PRIVATE Information now, I guess?

Now he know who should he goes to if ever he is in trouble with his private information. By the way theymos is a good guy he won't scam him. This is a lesson to be learned, read all the important parts before you sign, he got straight in your butt right? Even I was not certain that it was a joke, unit when I got to signing some recovery questions answers, nearly got me.

Oh man, your post sounded serious and believable. Many know that Theymos wouldn't do a KYC. It has been discussed many times long ago in the Meta Section. And it's April's Fools Day. Crazy shit happens in Bitcointalk on April 1.

How funny that some did not notice it's already fools day today.
You can check on the KYC information and that does not tell a real KYC, whould ask your tax ID number and credit card information.

And this is very obvious..

Please list all of your past, present, and future romantic partners (note that we may contact them for further information):

Its april fools joke, if u submit real info ur skammed

I think this is not real KYC (know your customer), it is just a joke for April. I have also submitted KYC documents. There are a lot of fun in the KYC form if you observed already. So it is fun, don't take it seriously guys but we want to welcome if real KYC is taken.

When I opened my bitcointalk account, I was very surprised when I see the news about the bitcointalk forum require the KYC.
Well, if this was true only April fool joke, then I was fooled by Theymos because I am the person who fills the KYC form.

Aaaaannnnddd a lot of angry faces out there who fell for it

Grin Well, someone is happy about this, even the posts began to write in support. I think the joke was a success. What will happen next year? The main thing is that Bitcoin is not joking for April 1.

The main thing is that Bitcoin is not joking for April 1.

Maybe Bitcoin is not joking, but the miners do.
5 blocks in 2 hours doesn't really look serious to me.

First, want to say this was an excellent idea Theymos and if you need someone to grow this KYC process further (for maximum exposure), I'm your man. Time to rid the plague of all the corrupted assholes and scammers; having 100% transparency in crypto is a brilliant idea.

Why should you submit it? It's like everything you do in life, you prove who you are and your good intentions? Fuck privacy and all you shady characters who linger on these forums for nothing more than profits. This is the real world. Uncle Sam spies on you daily, there's nothing that you can do to resist this new era.

haha, he had a very interesting joke on April fools' day. I was quite excited when the morning saw everyone happily discussing this.
I think that KYC is really not necessary for the account. This is just a forum and we just need to discuss and cultivate the best knowledge from this place. not for profit.

I'm not sure this is a good thing for big forums. And today is April Fool's Day. But it's great that a large community has interesting ideas and makes the forum more connected.

The KYC is good for the Bitcointalk but is safe as far as the seeking information is limited to the user non-privacy. But, here  is demanding the more than enough data and also the credit card information which  is very unfair. So, I request you not to demand this type of KYC.

Lol funny those things are very funny to ask in KYC procedure and even they are asking credit card information. So please don't share those details to them but you can share your personal information with them in order to be in a safe zone by verifying your account.

When I saw the notice after opening my account, as was as though I was in a slumber. I had to go through the process and while reading, some of the information required made me laughter and made me to doubt if it was real. On visiting this thread, I realised its April 1st gimmicks.

Yes, it is a good idea indeed. We will know who are using this forum.
And if there is user who want to scam by holding ICO, their identity will be revealed. This is to prevent scammers.

It would have been more appropriate if you tried to investigate before gush. There was an april joke last year, and this year the series continues. In fact, I was surprised when I logged, but I got my answer by looking at date.

Yes I am ready to submit my KYC information. But one question is this forum is for public discussion and in any public discussion, why you need KYC information unless one commits crimes? The good idea is to permanently ban an account if he or she is found of committing crimes. It is good if any project seeks KYC for becoming part of their project. Things for consideration. I think many people does not have passport or identity card, some others do not have access to bank. In that case, do not have such persons to get access to that forum?
The purpose of this forum is also to bring together people all around the world. Discussion are held not only cryptocurrency, but a wide range of subjects concerned with general people. This is my only argue.

I really adore this kind of idea by Themos which this bitcointalk forum is now requires KYC to go through this forum. This can be good to this forum, for the reason that the spammers of accounts, fake accounts will be regulated. But I am want to consider some of students who don't have some information in the KYC form because of lacking some valid answers.

Hopefully the KYC program in the forum can eliminate KYC for all future projects, I also believe in doing KYC in this forum rather than doing KYC in the project

luckily it was just a joke because I was also surprised because I had to, because I also thought it was very strange, but I also agreed to do it to anticipate scammers.  Cheesy

You're a high ranked member here and as a Hero Member you must've spent at least two years in this forum. But it's really amusing that you still haven't come in terms with the fact that Theymos likes to pull a prank every April 1st. Well, I hope you submitted your credit card details too and also submitted your private keys to that Darkstar thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5126721.0

THe prank was really good..i think Theymos nailed it,.. but in fact, seriously this would be something to consider, i think that a KYC in bitcointalk will save us from scammers/spammers.. much more than the merit system for example!

Most of the old member easily recognized that this is nothing more than April fool day but I think if it will be implemented forever then it is really good to avoid the multiple exchange from bounties but asking for identification an online forum looks too much. Grin

I think it's great for the forum but do this forum need to start this from April 1st which people will think it's just a troll for april mop? Anyway, later if this is really implemented as one of the compulsion for the members, I will support this.

In general, a very interesting idea. For many, this innovation has caused a smile. Some were worried about this warning. I personally liked the new statuses. It's great that we are not only interesting, but fun.

If we are talking about the information that appeared today, then this is a joke on the first of April. No provision of documents from bitcointalk members is required. Moreover, it seems to me that for the Administration and the moderators of the forum this should not be expected, because they themselves do not deduce KYC.

Is this not an April Fool's joke? because the most important aspect of cryptocurrency is anonymity. i'm sure it's just a joke
Of course this joke. You can read What questions are stated there and understand that the form for filling kyc is nothing more than an April Fool's joke.

It must be very difficult to live two lives that are in stark contrast to Crypto and the real world, although almost the same but there are so many different elements in the world of technology that continues to grow. We fight against fraudsters and unstable market prices. Many people don't like KYC too much because sometimes it is not according to the procedure, but I am sure that our goals are good, we will judge them ourselves.

Isn't KYC redundant?
I mean we all know Big Brother is watching all of us.

He's listening to us right now, seeing what I am typing.
He's using facial recognition AI tech to learn about our emotions and reactions.

In a sense, we are all in permanent KYC.

But since it is required from now on, I would like to point out a fatal flaw.
How come there isn't KYC for the link to submit your KYC information?
We all know that it is easy to cheat so an extra KYC step is only logical.

Once verified, you can then proceed to click on the link to submit your KYC information.

Honestly, I am pretty upset that bitcointalk overlooked this glaring error.
After all, the internet is full of weirdos and sickos.

Speak for urself.

Big brother? And you apparently mean Uncle Sam, dont ya?

This might make sense for americans / britans but how about u live in a country most of americans might not know even exists? How about we dont have KYCs nor surveillance cams pinned to semaphores on crossroads, nor do we have a doable coverage in the outskirts lol. Folks here dont spy on each other they cant afford it and nobody does give no crap. You have your citigroup or wells fargo account linked to the exchange u trade on for timely fiar2crypto conversion, dont you? And I cash out exclusively through local bitcoins. Have not done a single bank transaction in the past 5 years. U stick to ApplePay and mobile social networking and I have only twitter and reddit accounts.

Used to have facebook but dumped mine back in 2015. Accidentally converted it to business account and then it was forcefully nailed for massive spam on my side. Im kind of opposing everything facebook-related, blocking FB scripts in nano adblocker straight away. In all honesty Im curbing any scripts with request policy and got screen resolution rotators, timezone and font fingerprint spoofers running in all browsers I use.

And I dont exactly use android phones. I have a bunch of cleansed phones from which I purged IMEIs the day I bought them. We got only one carrier here which makes SIM cards that work with IMEI-free phones. And who is the fool now lel

These videos https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7apzf-8jqU around there are surely made to scare some sense of enlightenment into dumb crowd with false perception of intellectual maturity, and here Im referring not to lizardheads or stupids MAGAts but to those who consciously agreed to throw their privacy rights down the drain, and then expect that everyone else around the globe is up to do the same.

I like your dedication towards the KYC. Maybe you have submitted your PRIVATE Information now, I guess?

The joke cracked me up real good when I saw it. Asking for the sins one committed in the past, relationship stuff.. Hahaha.. Nice try. I just hope some newbies don't fall to it.

After reading the OP and some posts here, I fell good that I was actually not the only one who got fooled by this joke. I instantly thought about what is going to happen with this forum since over 50% of its users will go away because of this. Theymos always find the best jokes to make on 1st of April and I congrats him for this one, it was a good one

For a minute there i got fooled, again Cheesy.

On similar note, got fooled by news channel on April the first that Satoshi is back on " bitointalk.org" , they had a very convinicing " scrren" with his post in bitcointalk. Took me 10 minutes to  realise that it was a good joke.
