I think they asked us to keep silence, not shout that it is all fake By the way they might playing a joke on us, take a look at the source code. A new puzzle again: <!-- Looking for a puzzle? Extra-1354773409 -->

Can't we just focus on BitMonero? The first fork of Bytecoin. These puzzles only distract us from what is really important; COINS!!

As a wat to say thank you to the creators of the technology, it might be a good idea to take a look. Bitmonero is here already, it won't go away if you take a break from it for a couple of hours. The puzzles are our only chance to know the origins. I thought you were the one to want to know everyting.

Hah that about sums it up. Almost feels like an ARG or something. Not really sure how to demonstrate I'm not "disclosing information" but if they want to keep their project quiet that's cool with me.
It's nonsensical. If they want to keep the project quiet they can start by taking down the web page. I'm not convinced the "message" is even from the developers.

Wow, what are you thinking about this hs5jfdmnhw63bcbc.onion? There is screen I think that devs can delete the site... If so, why <meta name="googlebot" content="index,follow"/> <meta name="msnbot" content="index,follow"/> <meta name="robots" content="index,follow"/> on bytecoin.org?

without signatures on the deepweb site it's suspicious
bytecoin devs keep project secret for years and can't even figure out how to sign a message?

But we got all puzzles and info about bytecoin from bytecoin.org. Even the last message. So it hard to believe that bytecoin.org does not belongs to Community. Another thing - what is Community? is it only group of devs or, maybe it is devs + early users? Cicada is a few years phenomenon, maybe some group of really talented and passionate developers decided to add more members to its group few years ago for BCN development? And all stuff we saw about Cicada quests (not from Bytecoin, but original cicada) was just a recruit company to hire some highly professional members? Any way quests from bytecoin now seems to be nothing (really easy) comparing with original cicada quests.

This is what I believe to be the single greatest vulnerability to all cryptocurrencies. Any coin can be effectively destroyed by an individual who manages to get get control of an official domain and fork the blockchain. The implications are scary. As long as binaries are hosted on ICANN sanctioned domains, no cryptocurrency is safe from takeover.

What is the deal with Minergate? They seem to come from nowhere with an incredibly polished product that as far as I know is the only stratum-like implementation of mining a cryptonote currency. They also seem to have a deep understanding of the protocol given that they were able to assemble a working block explorer. The only contact from the team behind it posted this in March: What about Mac OSX? I am the begginner and to be honest not good in hardware and sofware good for mining. I mean I am not a noob in it but there's a lot to learn
which leads me to believe he or she is not really the primary developer of the software. Do they have any presence elsewhere? There is no source code available for their miner so it's hard to tell if they are somehow related to the BCN team. I've tried running the miner in a vm as I'm still a bit sketched out by the absence of source code, but that machine so far does not seem to have been overcome with any obvious issues, viruses, etc.
