Uh... what? http://bytecoin.org is the first and original Bytecoin. Every other Bytecoin came later and chose to have the same name; maybe unintentionally.

If this coin in fact did come first, the later uses of the name were quite clearly unintentional. No relevant web site at bytecoin.org existed at the time the other clone(s) were created, nor is there any evidence of information available about this bytecoin anywhere else. The current bytecoin.org is around six months old. Any claims about what happened prior to that are thus far 100% unsupported.

If we could find the originators of the BTE bytecoin, we could ask them if they were aware of this bytecoin. But is that really worth the effort? There is zero evidence they would have been aware of it. The lack of available evidence despite several people looking for it is evidence (though inconclusive) that such evidence does not exist. The weight of the evidence very strongly points away from anyone choosing the same name as this coin after and intentionally doing so.

The coins will get momentum based on their features and public acceptance; others will just die, so their name-conflict doesn't matter much in the log run. At least that's my point of view.

Hi, I have enough of trying so I ask : Why can't I refresh my wallet ? Error: wallet failed to connect to daemon (http://localhost:8081). Daemon either is not started or passed wrong port. Please, make sure that daemon is running or restart the wallet with correct daemon address. My client is launched, synchronized and the blockchain has been saved. So why ? I stop my firewall, antivirus, nothing. I can make Monero, Fantomcoin & Quazarcoin working perfectly on both Windows and Linux.

It must be a port problem, how do I specify the port on both daemon and wallet if I don't want to use 8081 ?

Try downloading latest binaries from their site and refreshing the wallet again.

Bytecoin (BCN) ended a logo contest and we will vote for favorites within 48 hours. We decided to extend the time for voting, because you have sent a lot of awesome logos. There are versions of logo in the posts below. Total is 24! Please, wait I'll post them all!Reward for winner is 2,500,000 BCN!https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=606589VOTE NOW! I voted for the new bytecoin logo ... for myself Unfortunatly, right now pipipipopopo's proposal is in front. I also like his design. Clean and simple! However, as I already mentioned in another post, pipipipopopo's approach IMO is not unique enough. It is to similar to the bitcoin logo. Bytecoin needs something more unique. Especially, as bytecoin is struggling with this naming confusion (BTE and BCE). I'm just wondering which thoughts people may associate with a coin named "bytecoin" which name is similar to "bitcoin" and even has a logo similar to bitcoin. IMO, using a similar logo may imply, that these developers of bytecoin don't have own ideas. Similar name and same logo. People may think its is just a stupid clone, which does not need further attention. So IMO it is not a good idea to have a similar logo. We need to, at least, emphasize that we are different. Starting with the first impression - the logo.

DStrange, you should add https://cryptonote.exchange.to/market/bcn/btc under exchanges. It's basic but very much functional. By the way, did C-Cex confirm that they would add BCN? I've only seen official mentions from Comkort. I will try to find out about C-Cex today!

Hey guys, We're putting a bounty for a Minergate OP translation - 200000 BCN for each language. All you have to do is translate this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=528848.msg5873847#msg5873847 and create a new translated Minergate topic in your country forum branch. As soon as it's done - PM me for a reward. Thank you.

I like the style of pipipipopopo's, it's bold, but maybe too much so, the B itself doesn't seem to have a unicode character for it. There is the barred ᴃ which is unused. I actually like it a lot in serif- it looks almost like the Bitcoin symbol turned 90 degrees: http://unicode-table.com/en/1D03/
