How do you define a good exchange?

For me any exchange with decent volume and easy deposit and withdrawal is a good exchange. Also, the support has to be good. Safety comes at the top. That's why I prefer exchanges with 2-3 levels of security. But in any case I don't keep my money on an exchange for a long time. So, for quick trades volume is the key.

For me, a good exchange has good security of funds, support that's fast to respond to any tickets and issues that users might have, and doesn't require KYC. Low site lag and no/very few overloads unlike what Bitmex has (where I mainly trade) is a plus as well. Fees should also be reasonable, though I find most exchanges do not have problems with fees most of the time. Users should also have the option to secure their accounts with extra security measures like 2FA and SMS.

A good UI is a must too, potentially with the option to use either a light or dark theme if possible. A white background sucks for when I'm trading at night, and I personally prefer a darker site theme anyways.

A good exchange is only the one who has good rating and feedback and of course it will have good volume if it is trustworthy. Many new exchanges are coming up these days but it is always a danger that those new exchanges can scam anytime once they got some good deposits.
I always avoid trading on small exchanges.

The first thing that compose a goo exchange is not fees , but the platform itself, one major problem I have with a lot of crypto project is that they don't care about what kind of platform they build as long as they are providing a service, but I see that as a very bad a bit and should be avoided, the first thing a developer should consider before launching a platform is how user friendly that platform is, since it would be used by the users and not the developers.

So what i hate the most about probably many exchange sites, is the cheer amount of information that they have in your face as so as you open the page, people get really overwhelmed by charts and numbers and unnecessary list of coins, for an experienced person this is already something that they are used to but for someone who is new this is overwhelming and makes it look very complicated, so make it minimalist and let the user decide which coin he want to see its chart and price.

It seems that you are describing shitcoin exchanges. If you think it hinders your trading experience, then simply stop using these exchanges, or at least add the coins you like and trade to your favorites list.

I can't think of any decent exchange that doesn't allow you to customize the list of coins. I occasionally use Binance myself and only select Bitcoin and Ethereum to be added to my favorites, the rest is not of importance to me.

Also, people who are brand new actually join exchanges for their massive list of shitcoins. They love the choice that these exchanges offer, so it's more coins they prefer rather than less coins.

There are tons of exchanges coming up now. Depending on which you wan to be, there are types of exchange- cebtraliyabd decentralised with the CEX having more trade volume that the DEX. However, I'm seeing projects having a mix of Dex and Cex called hybrid. You need a strong security architecture against hacks and hackers with great support and easy withdrawal knowing fully Weymouth that most people avoid KYC.

cs fast response, kyc, can withdraw fiat money easily and cheaply, there are chat rooms, more pairs to fiat money or altcoins, guarantee the security and privacy of users, and always high trading volumes

Traders want profit so they don't care much about the platform if it is user friendly or not.Whenever you are using the exchange you are getting flawless experience then it can be a good exchange but it varies from the users preference.

An exchange should have real and well known team. They should explain their aim directly to user. You should develop something different from others exchange. Otherwise why users will come to your exchange since there is lot of trusted exchange around us. And of course, the most important thing is how will you secure users fund. Hackers are very active and intelligent now a days. So fund should be secured. Pump and dump is a shady activity of exchange so it should be avoid in order to protect users fund.

Your project is a welcomed development because no amount of exchange is a enough for the cryptocurrency industry as new coins/token emerges so is the need for more exchanges that will meet up with the demands of it users with new and advanced technology and good trading volume because that is what most time define a good exchange and easy to use with low trading fees.

Because it is my first post, I have, at least, to present myself in several words. I am a coins/tokens dev and web developer full stack.
After several years of crypto experience, I decided to create my own project. It is not a coin, nor a token (there is already plenty of ERC20 tokens and coins), it is a cryptocurrency exchange.

There is already some exchanges available on the web, but I would like to build one which may fit to Bitcointalk users, it's why I opened this thread, and ask you today what do you like the most in crypto exchanges, as well as the things that you dislike. It can be specific features, themes, properties...
I want to build a good exchange, and for that I need to know your preferences.

First of all good luck for your future plan. I don't know you have a team or not but it's more important before you start that you have a good team and support. At this moment Binance is one of the most popular exchange for sure. If you want you can inspire from Binance. Security is most valuable thing for a good exchange. Keep KYC system for customer (but do not create too much any complex option that trader fell uncomfortable).

My own definition of a good cryptocurrencies exchange is  being beginner friendly exchange,  accomplishes this through its beautiful yet simple user interface and low trading fees. These two are what spark my interest in any exchange.

Themes would be great but dont overdo it. If I see bad colors I tend to choose another.
One example would be binance color which is great. Better be invertable too.

Trading fees will matter specially when they want in or out.
Do not copy hitbtc where there is a deposit fee. That is some greedy move.

A clean chatbox will also be great, better have customer service 24/7 too. It cannot be left just because you already created an automated exchange.
There will always be a problem.

The definition of a good changes will be no problem from starting to end till we are getting the money to our hands without any problems will be the the good changes that we have to trust in all the time and mostly need to be transparent then only the trust become increased on that.

Should be pretty transparent with less bullshits like KYC and other stuffs. Should have a user friendly interface. Must be easy to use and be smooth. Good volumes and need to make sure they do not add those shits coins in the exchange. Oh yeah, they need to have a good customer support. Most of the current support present are just useless and totally shit.

there are some things that you can add to your new exchange,
first create a different interface, list a lot of coins, I suggest above 500 coins, and also the most important is the cheap fee.
if you try to make a different thing that's good, but don't forget the security, this is the most important too.

For me, a good exchange should have a simple yet nice website design, fast respond to customer support, friendly staff, secured wallet, and low trading/withdrawal fees, I'm a small-time trader so I want to save any profit I got from my investment.
