Would you bet on an insect fight?

..I don't think that an ant fight would catch the attention of gamblers..but would you believe that a spider fight would catch attention on some gamblers?..maybe yes,because here in our country,,spider fight bettting really takes place..i thought they are just do it for fun but in the end they places bets on which spider will win the match..But insect betting is not that much attractive and impressive to gamblers specially professional gamblers..they will call it insane..

For some Asian countries insect fighting has been done in the past, Asian countries like Japan, China, Thailand, and Vietnam have Beetle fighting as well as Cricket fighting but I haven't seen anything about them having insect fights for ants. My guess is because of the insect type itself unlike Beetles or crickets you won't really be ae to differentiate both ants in terms of their ability or strength. Unlike beetles or crickets in which you will see see that some of them are considerably larger compared to the other. And in terms of betting its not that really big in the insect fighting community like what I have said you will only have four main countries who might be interested in it.

yes i do . on our place we use spiders  .  both spider will crawl on a barbeque stick and if one drops  , that is one point . the match end until a spider scores 3 points but if a spider dies the game is automatically over and the live spider will be the winner  .   the bets are mostly 1usd to 2usd  . it was thrilling and enjoyable but its now illegal because nowadays  , our government is now strict when it comes to local gambling .

I used to bet on this kind of games, but it was just a friendly bet as me and my buddies are fond of collecting insects and have them fight during summertime when we were kids. So I'm not sure if there is a community or a fan based on insect fights. I know in Asia it's predominant, but how about any parts of the globe? I don't think though that I'm going to bet, for me it's just a friendly game and should not involved huge money, IMHO.

This is just like the live mouse racing or rather these are a species of Mongolian guinea pigs actually I believe,,, that this forum has a thread for, you should check it out. I think ant fighting might be different because it is about killing each other so you will find trouble to make this a legitimate or ethical form of gambling. Sure there is no blood,,, no screaming,,, but it is fighting to the death.

For sure they can fight on a stick, but I have never seen that haha I will tell the kid's to try that 

How does it works: they just rub their heads to make them angry and the fight starts. And just like leea-1334 said its a death match because the ants go like crazy and they dont separate until one is death.

Another crazy thing of these ants is that they are also eaten and considered a delicacy

It's interesting that a lot of animal battles are gambling by gamblers, it's very simple, but are you all used up to play games that aim to gamble? I will not watch animals attack each other because it is not very human for me personally, there is nothing to boast about in a fight as I see that it is not commensurate with what has been issued, then stop doing it only the child who does appropriate game in gambling.

Now I would not have any problem if children wanted to partake in this activity.
Reason being that insects arent pets such as cocks and dogs are.

Why don't you like cock-fighting? Many Fathers on rural area in my country are playing cock fighting. It's fun though I watched many games of it and it is more crowded than watching your favorite basketball team. The crowd is roaring and looking left and right you can see people setting their different bets.

On insect, in my country children are catching spiders and they are fighting it with each other. Those spiders only that lives on the tree not those black widows, tarantula and etc.

Aahhh, the good ol' days, when I was a kid on my Country Indonesia, most of us are betting on a betta fish fight, I'd remember clearly how I asked my moms to buy the fish and the process taking care it carefully and patiently, and when its matured enough the 'judgments' days have come, we are betting on our own fish to be the champion.  Damn man, this thread really gets me to the nostalgia.

This is similar to spider fight but only played by children in my place. They would search for a specific kind of spiders, put them in a match box and find and opponent with the same spider. This game is fun, children would usually gather around watching and betting on their spider of choice. The defeated one will be wrapped in silk by the winning one but before it is totally wrapped audience will be cheering and making noise for their bets. I imagine ants fighting are also the same but i didnt see same kind of ants fighting but only those that are different from them. If I would bet for ants, maybe for fun if it will not do me any harm.

From what I've seen this type of gambling can materialize, there's a lots of ways where gamblers really played even in a small form of gambling, same a like with spiders in some small town from where I live people already doing this occasionally, they are betting with spider that they've catched during summer and believe that it will bring them luck to win the bets.

In my town there are ants that only appear once a year and it is common for children to capture one and start a fight against others ants.

This made me think ...  What would happen if this took a step forward and stopped being just a children's game?

Those are hella big ants.This is my first time on seeing that there are animal fights like this but i dont consider for it to be included for gambling, this would be just good
on local happening but for worldwide i dont think there would be soo much attention it will gain.

I remember betting on a house spider battling through sticks way back then. The bet would be our lunch money since that particular insect game is popular on kids. Its a 50/50 chances of winning though so its not hard to decide. We bet based on the largest ones but small ones really have some spirit of war.

This fight can only be a fun diversion.   Obviously some will object on cruelty grounds but the main reason why not is the performance and ability of the insect is entirely unclear.   You cant easily guage is the insect is in good health or not, its entirely unpredictable.

Take horse racing and there is pedigree to the whole sport, this matters

I think we all have a good childhood on this one. Well, i didn’t experience to have some bet with the insects but I think its almost the same with the spider. This is just a small way of having fun, so i believe it will not attract more gamblers. Anyway, i will bet on this one on a live place not thru online.
