Insect fight is popular in some countries, it is gambling and I guess you are also aware of cock fights.

This is a first time i am hearing about the Insect fight and i will be very interesting to see this fight live.  I have seen many cock fights and it is popular sports in our country.  Betting is cock fight is a growing trend in our society.

Insect isn't popular in your country whilst in other countries like mine, there's a fight like this.

And the bet here in my locale isn't too much, mostly kids play this fight and the stake is their other insect pet.

Do we came from the same country? Lol. Anyway, when i was a child I once hunt spiders every night (because we believe thag they're easier to catch during night time) on my province and match them up on the next day. Some of the naughty kids along my neighborhood play with involving money but I refuse to do such thing during those times because I'm a good boy and strictly follow parental advice. Ahh, the good old days!

Anyway, the use of crypto can be applied here if and only if will be only under the table transactions. I mean, it's like "if you win then give me your btc address and I'll send the payment, after that we're good". Online gambling? I don't think it will work because 1) there is no association who handle such kind of game thus we can still consider it as illegal 2) Animal welfare activists will get mad and say it's a form of animal cruelty 3) These insects are seasonal thus there would be a struggle for creating matches.

Hell yeah, even the roosters are allowed to be fighting with each other here on our place and so many people bet on each sides and there are millions of money involved in it. Any fights can be have bets on them as long as there is fairness in it. In our home town there are people taking care of a small fish called " fighting fish" and they put them to a fight with real money bets on them. I guess the imagination of humans are unimaginable if we talk about betting, we just can't get over even with even tiny animals and other living organisms have to put bets on.

For this reason it could succeed in countries where animal fights are already popular. In countries where dog fights are banned and people aren't used to seeing animals fight even insect fights wouldn't become popular. There would be a lot of people against it and they would ultimately ban it from public display.
I don't know what to think of it. I'm against dog fights so this is wrong and cruel too.

People will really gamble on anything, and I have learnt this fact on bitcointalk.  Betting on insect fights has got to be a new low however.  Not that I think it's particularly cruel but it is a very strange concept in my head.  Such a thing wouldn't be something I would wager on, nor would I gamble on animal fights.  Those I do think are cruel.

It may be absurd but I already did.

At that time I am just a child and at that time, we usually go to a grassland near the foot of a mountain and find spiders. We use it to fight to other person with spider and bet on it. We bet money, sometimes toys and also spiders too. If I am not mistaken, there are bugs that fight too. In my country it is hard to find one and we usually end up finding spiders but not bugs.

I am glad you already admitted that it is absurd, I would say it is  weird and would have as well said inhuman but I remember you mentioned playing while you were much younger.

I want to assume you wouldn’t partake in this type of terrible game again ever, with the varieties of more interesting games that have be made available for us to choose from. I just feel we are not been fair to animals by making them partake in fights just for our personal interest and entertainment, we have to also put ourselves in their own shoes and see how it would feel.

yes we do have it when fiestas. people bet which spider falls 3 times loses on the stick or they can have a rule like til death. these spiders are vicious they can fight til they wrap their opponents for consumption. i use to collect these kind of spiders when i was just 12. i sell these spiders to my rich schoolmates, these spiders sometimes cost half a dollar if they find it rare. that is already a huge amount for me.

You are entitled to your opinion bro but on the contrary there is nothing disgusting about the game at all. It is very interesting and there are many viewers of it who are also being entertained through it. Aside the money aspect of the game, there just this entertaining side of it that makes it worth the   time spent in watching. The view of having two insects battle is humorous. It’s an old time game and I can’t remember the last time I ever watched or visited the scene of this but its quite interesting.

Indeed. Although they are somehow considered as pest to humans and plants, their role is still vital in the environment. Distrupting their nature for the sake of gambling is morally incorrect. We should be contented in gambling using computers and machineries instead.
