IEO is become popular in this year after the hype of ICO dead. Actually, I don' know for sure if IEO will be profitable than ICO. But after seeing what is happening in bittrex exchange, I think IEO could replace ICO position for the new project, and it could be profitable this year.
The IEO still trying to promote each project in the exchange and they hope that they can attract a bigger investor to buy their tokens.

ICO coins still are more profitable, the top coins in the market now are coming from ICO, ETH, WAVES, TRX, and even BNB, these are ICO coins
and have survive in the market and still giving profit to investors.
Maybe in the long run when there will be more coins produce through IEO, they can surpass the success of ICO, who knows.

The IEO benefits ICO as well. So both can be profitable at any time. If you really invest in the right project, of course.
