You are right. I think After Khabib's retirement, what he left behind was his legacy and he is doing quite well as a trainer. Fighters like Islam Makhachev and Umar Nurmagomedov show that Khabib was a champion himself and also is contributing enough to make others champions. And looking at their fighting style, it seems like a replica of Khabib to me. Because you must have seen that they are all the best in grappling. They follow Khabib's style completely. Islam's last match was quite impressive. It seems more likely that Umar Nurmagomedov will win too . And Song Yadong's number of losses is more than Nurmagomedov. And he is far behind in all aspects. Even then, the UFC is completely unpredictable. If anyone  get a strong knockout can lose instant match. But I am looking forward to seeing the excited match.

I was researching Contender Series and saw that last year they signed over 40 fighters. And this year they've already signed over 10. However, I don't see these guys fighting in numbered events, only in Fight Night events. But why aren't they making it into the top 5 in their weight classes?

There's some truth to it, but overall, Bantamweight ranks better than, say, Featherweight, so it's not all that bad. They have recognisable names throughout the whole top 15.
The problem is the top fighters are not keen on fighting guys ranked lower than them, unless it's a big money fight. This is not limited to any weight class,
In the bantamweight, we have undefeated Farid Basharat or David Martínez (only 1 loss from before he joined the UFC) climbing up the rankings. There's also Bryce Mitchel who won twice since he moved down. Bryce is not champion material but could bring some freshness to the top 10.

Ilia Topuria didn't look like a fish out of the water in Lightweight. I would say that he is as good as he was previously and I would even say that he is extremely good. Just look at the second round against Gaethje, you'll see a pure masterpiece. Ilia's reason of losing was his ego. He wanted to finish Gaethje in the first and second round with knockout or if not in these rounds, he wanted knockout 100% and because if this reason, to keep a short distance, he let him to punch him in the face and the result actually was that Ilia couldn't rich him and his face got swollen. If it wasn't his ego, I'm 100% confident he would beat Gaethje. And this Gaethje is also animal, the man jumped on his neck, almost broke it and acted like nothing happened 

It is a really contradictory statement. Trying to knock out Gaethje and then gassing out completely is anything but a masterpiece. It wasn't about ego; Topuria was just completely confident that he could literally knock Gaethje out. When that didn't happen, he had no Plan B, and he gassed out completely looking for the finish. The game plan Topuria had coming into that fight completely failed him—there is no way to sugarcoat that loss.

I also feel that Volk can beat Evloev because his finish rate is zero, so you cant control Volk with zero finish rate. Otherwise he will also be like Islam Makhachev in his first fight with Volk. In the second fight he knocked him out. It was a lucky kick from Islam Makhachev. That's why Evloev should take a risk and try to knock out Volk otherwise it will be a very tough night for him. Evloev is also a good wrestler but only wrestling will not save him from Volk. But guys it will be a good fight. I think there will be a knockout. Lets hope we see a great fight.

There is no luck involved in that kick from Islam Makhachev, he tried the exact sequence in their first fight. The rematch was on short notice, Volkanovski didn't have a full training camp to prepare. Islam set the trap beautifully with heavy body shots. The moment Volk dropped his guard to defend his ribs, the shin landed flush on his head to end the fight. Go watch the fight again and you'll understand.

That is one of the paradoxes and problems of UFC and current MMA era. Fighters have opportunity to pick from several options who they want to fight, and they pick only those who are either easy fight/easy or big money, or who will allow them gain positions in ranking. 15-25 years ago fighters were fighting anyone they were told to fight. That is a huge problem actually. We see champion-top5 fighters fight between each other, and rest fight between each other. It is very hard now to get a title fight, grow as fighter, make challenging matchups

Why don't they simply make a fight between Sean O'Malley and Umar Nurmagomedov? I think that most of us want to see that fight. Petr Yan vs O'Malley is another fight that we want to see but before that Merab has to fight against Yan because it would be extremely unfair to give a title fight to Sean right now, after everything what happened.

I think the UFC moved away from doing immediate rematches and reserves them only for special circumstances. I think both Petr and Sean would rather fight each other than fight Merab or Umar. And fans would also like to see that fight, so I think this is most likely to happen.
If so, Merab would probably have to fight down against someone from the top 10. Alternatively, we could see Umar Vs Merab fighting again for the next title shot, but that would mean Merab sitting idle for quite a long time.

The fight between Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili is already booked and honestly, Merab really deserves a rematch because look at his statistics, the guy fought 4 times in a row in a year and defended the title. He beat everyone in the division, he really deserves an immediate rematch.  Petr VS Sean would be an amazing fight too because I feel like Petr Yan was robbed against Sean but I personally want to see Sean VS Umar.

Sure it needs a fresh blood because it became very boring. Merab beat everyone and goes on to a circle. Same fights for the second time again is really boring.

Yup...  Unless Song Yadong could negate the take downs and keep the match standing then he could have a chance.  But that's not likely to happen.

I guess it is time for me to start watching all DWCS fights. Where do you watch them? Does Paramount show them? You have broken my vision on DWCS. I though it was a total amateur fights, and I could only read on ufc.com who got contract and search highlights on youtube later. Then wait when fresh meet with be thrown in FN event. But it seems that I should add DWCS to my timetable If things goes on and DWCS becomes so good, they would start selling tickets to watch it.

^  Nurmagomedov wore sunglasses on the scale.  Sometimes that's a bad sign because the fighter is hiding the fact that he might have had a bad weight cut.  The eyes will look sunken and shadowed.  Not in this case tho...  Nurmagomedov looked fine during face offs.

I don't think so bro that it will be an easy win for Umar Norgamedov because he always gets trapped and gets hits and Yadong Song is a really good striker also have the ability to knockout anyone and also he is a good grappler. So I don't think it will be easy for Umar to beat him. Also bro Umar is the only Norgamedov who I think cannot do that much in this sport. I don't see any kind of potential in him. On the other hand his brother Usman has a lot of potential. He can go so much farther in this sport. Maybe he can also go far than Islam because he is young and has a lot of experience and also has a lot of time. I think this guy should come to UFC and finish his contract with PFL. He has nothing left in PFL. He should come to UFC. What are your thoughts on Usman?

It's normal, and fair, for fighters to think and do that. It's them thinking for themselves, there's nothing wrong with that. However, the UFC needs them, so what I believe should be done is to have a clause in the contracts so that at some point they accept one or two fights that the UFC wants them to take without contest, in exchange for a significant raise or something like that. I think that would help us have more interesting fights. And we wouldn't depend on chance for Contender prospects to appear who want every fight offered to them.

There is no record of Nurmagomedov losing a match by knockout. He has a record of losing a match which was by judges decision. On the other hand, Song Yadong has 9 losses in his record where he lost by knockout twice. You can look it up on Google if you want. So if anyone has a chance of losing by knockout here, it is Song Yadong.

And Nurmagomedov is a strong enough player. He can strike quite well too. And everyone in the Khabib family is the best at grappling. So I think Nurmagomedov has a lot of chances of winning this match. The match will start in a few hours. Then we will see who actually wins. And  I am optimistic about Usman, his chances of winning is high.

I just tuned in now and met an amazing fight between Lui Ce vs Rodrigues. From the first second of the match it was obvious that someone was going to get knocked out. Home advantage was heavy for Lui in Shangai and he did not dissapojnt connecting with a huge over head punch. Rodriguez was rocked but kept pushing forward as Lui did not engage in the clinch which would have helped Rodrigues to get his wits about him.

A punch coming through eventually brough the knock out and Lui his statement win and some boost for the home crowd.

Holy shit. I would never have imagined Umar Nurmagomedov getting knocked out cold. With the event not favoring the Chinese fighters early on, an upset was the least of my worries against a name like Nurmagomedov. So, the title dreams in the near future have been put on hold indefinitely for Umar Nurmagomedov.

KO in the mainevent and it's the surprise of the evening. Umar never was the most assured fighter in their team but I did not think I'll watch him get dropped like that. From the first angle I did not see the punch and was wondering what took him out cold until I saw the replays. Umar has a tendency to dip in exchanges which obviously was well scouted by Song's team.

That punch could have hit a nerve with how Umar went out cold. This is why they spam takedown. On the feet any professional fighter just needs a clean connection to secure a surprise victory,  grapple is a low risk strategy that scores high on the board.

The fans will feel they got their money's worth on this one.

I never liked how all the Dagestani fighters dominated the fights. I think Islam will fall soon too. Ian Garry could have finished Islam off if he had fought more aggressively in that match. He could have done it like Song Yadong finished him off, I think. Maybe Song Yadong was so relaxed and calm because he was in his home country, but this guy is always like that. They'll probably give Song Yadong the title fight now after this amazing victory with KO.
