This means Neymar will miss the upcoming Copa America campaign due to a ligament rupture in his right ankle which will be a huge blow for Brazil which is also the host nation.

Neymar is so unlucky! Injured in the 2014 WC and missed the game vs Germany (and we all know how that ended). Missed the Copa America 2016 because Barcelona were being assholes. last year, he got injured months before WC, then made it to the WC but wasn't 100% fit. Now he misses the Copa America this year...Crazy.

I think getting 20 pariticpants will be a long shot, However hitting double digits is more likely as we have @Big_Daddy and @Trofo both planing to join next week.

Thanks for those links, I checked them out a bit. They are OK but not exactly what I was looking for. I have a feeling that this years Copa America is flying under the radar. Maybe I am wrong but it seems to me that previous editions had much bigger media coverage. I didn't even know it's being played this summer until I found this pool and I am following football news on daily basis.

I will never be happy to see a player get injured even if it is a player from my sworn enemy's teams
It's a huge blow for Brazil, but I'm sure they have luxury of players to call on as replacement.

I am not dislike of Neymar, I am happy with his brilliant play in every match. What I don't like is when the brilliant game is always diving when the enemy grabs the ball. With Neymar injury, Brazil still has many players who can replace Neymar position. So Brazil doesn't have to be discouraged if the star game is injured.

Yeah, there isn't enough media coverage about Copa America here in Europe. But I'm sure that when tournament will begin, we will see more news about it. In previous tournaments I remember that even local news media in my country gave enough attention to Copa America.

Nice to see you here LFC, Trofo, and of course others! Copa's really fun actually, very different styles of games. Unfortunately not very well covered, my provider here isn't showing much of non European football unless you pay out of the ears for it.

As LFC says I'm going to root for our boys in yellow, past and present (that's you too Coutinho you ex lil wizard) but Bobby rarely plays more than a sub role though Fabinho should see a lot more time given he's much more fit than when at Monaco. I'll even hope Suarez has a good tourney.

I'm betting on Qatar as soon as I find good odds... but they flopped against Brazil in a friendly 2 days ago. You never know though.

My opinion is that this competitions has to be played by nations from the continent named in the tournament

That is because South America only has 10 countries/teams which makes for very odd tournament format. That is why they traditionally invite two more teams to make it much more tournament friendly 12 teams. I agree it really looks strange seeing those teams compete but I got used to it and I am sure their football association gets quite nice money boost. This way they manage to sell television rights to big/rich countries which would otherwise not be interested in Copa.

This might be one of the reasons why there isn't too much "hype" surrounding this cup here in the forum.
