Bitcoins volatility isn't going anywhere. It's still highly speculative and illiquid with thin order books. When supply on the exchanges dries up (and this is inevitable at times because of its scarcity), huge markups like this $3,100-$13,800 move happen. That kind of volatility produces an extremely emotional market where lots of traders/investors are simultaneously in deep profits and losses. That creates big moves in both directions.

I don't see this changing for a very long time, if ever.

Also don't forget about all the lost bitcoins.  The circulating supply listed isn't an accurate indicator of how many bitcoins are out there being used by people.  It really doesn't take much to move the market compared to something like gold which has a marketcap in the trillions.

I personally think that it's a gradual thing. You simply can't expect a currency that has been historically volatile, and out of the reach of any central intervention, to be completely stable overnight. That's just an absurd proposition to make.

If you look at the general level of volatility, you'll see that it has decreased significantly from the flash crashes that took away more than 50% of BTC's value. If anything, the general trend is up, which may be why in the bull market the value of BTC seems constantly to be going up, and the correcting, because that's just the natural short term cycles.

Granted, this volatility may still not be sufficient. But it is trending in the right direction imo, and it's probably not the most accurate statement to say that it hasn't decreased at all.

An example of how irrelevant short term price action is, is the fundamental difference between Bitcoin at $20k in 2017 and Bitcoin at $3500 in 2019. The $3500 Bitcoin in 2019 was more secure and fundamentally stronger.

Volatility is related to volume. If the volume is not that big, volatility will likely stay. Bitcoin and crypto is still a small market, as others mentioned. It is as you mention that as long as there are people out there who are still using cryptocurrency it will stay but if people stop using it the bitcoin won't stay and the price will decrease until it loses it's value. Since bitcoin is still used until now think I think it will stay even if the price goes up and down.

So everything is depending on the demand. The demand of BTC is highly reactive to news, all kinds of news, even if there are some that are simply fake or FUD. And Bitcoin's market is small because it's not fully regulated, big players are still afraid to get in, or at least get in openly and in large amounts.

Another thing is that people expect it to be volatile, they speculate on it and with their actions cause more volatility - the current rally is caused by FOMO around the next halvening and supposed bull cycle, but people FOMO'ed so hard that they created a bull market long before it should have started.

today however we can no longer see such things and no exchange has any more than 10% of the volume and in most cases they only have 2%.

I agree with you that it's probably related to the size of the market. When there are more people, there should be a smaller chance that a small group of people can make a difference. So, if there's, say, some information about China banning Bitcoin, some people will do panic selling, but lots of others won't care, and thus the price will not be affected in a significant way. Not everyone believes that the volatility will become less significant, though. I think it can be explained in the following way: the intellect of the mass in inevitably smaller than the intellect of specific members of it, and an event that affects a part of the mass can cause something like a huge chain reaction afterward. In this case, the volatility of Bitcoin might even get worse with time.

The base factor we are using is not the correct one. We are just checking the BTC vs USD exchange rate to analyze whether Bitcoin is volatile or not. I think your points nail it exactly, and this is the reason why penny stocks are so much more volatile than, say, Microsoft stock.  I think a big component of volatility is market cap.  Another big one is the amount of speculators and how much money they're putting in and taking out of the market.

Just think of it a bit more. How can something be highly priced and stable at that price if it's not used anywhere? So far, there is no chance that Bitcoin will become less volatile in price in the future than now. This is a huge advantage of bitcoin and other decentralized cryptocurrencies and at the same time its biggest disadvantage. The great volatility of bitcoin really prevents its widespread use in business, especially where transactions are long-term in time. Earlier those hacks causing a price drop is a way of manipulation by the whales. These days what we encounter in the market is clearly transparent and users were much used to it. This is the prime reason for bitcoin to be strong even when there is more news related to cryptocurrency hacks around.

Another important thing is the responsibility from the exchanges. Recent one being the binance hack, the authority itself revealed official statements of providing funds to users who lost from the exchange. If the authorities haven't provided with such a support surely whales could've used it a way to shatter the market at least to a small level.

Why thinking it wouldn't, of course it will!. Volatility in price of bitcoin or even any other alts in the market is already in its nature. As I have a really bad message for you. Volatility is not just here to stay, it is likely to increase if we expect the prices to rise in the future (with adoption rates negligible). Bitcoin has limited supply which can't possibly be increased following the rise in prices (as is the case with gold, for example). Higher prices bring more volatility, and that seems to be a kind of dead end for Bitcoin. This phenomenon is real as proven in late 2017 and being proved again now

All in all, it means that at higher prices the market supply will reveal a tendency to decrease, which will lead to higher levels of volatility (contrary to popular belief). In fact, this is exactly what we see with prices above 10k right now. I actually met some of these guys (early adopters) and they were those in it since 2011 at the earliest, more or less the time exchanges were beginning to crop up and mining became an industry in itself. More holders of Bitcoin will lead to less market supply (in this you are quite correct), and it is indeed going to affect "the projectile of the price chart" (correct as well). Price will most certainly skyrocket initially. But since there will be less bitcoins available for purchase as well as sale, it will necessarily lead to higher levels of volatility. In the end, there will be some sort of shaky equilibrium, though not in the sense of supply-and-demand balance but rather between expanding volatility and declining liquidity. But the thing is, we can't just buy bitcoin bumy ourselves. It's too expensive even to just buy one. I mean, who has 8000-9000 dollars to spend over cryptocurrency. If we want to exhaust the full available supply in the market, we would need to recommend and advertise bitcoin. First of all, the volatility of bitcoin will depend on those who keep bitcoin in their wallets. If a big whale holds Bitcoin only in order to immediately sell and earn it when the maximum is reached, then the volatility of Bitcoin will also persist, but if the Bitcoin keepers want to have a stable asset with a high value, then this will not happen.

The reason that we are seeing this huge price leap for a period of weeks now is the fact that Bitcoin is volatile. What you have posted is correct. But investment from institutions are very susceptible to regulatory action. We all saw what happened to XRP, after the SEC acted against it. The same would happen to Bitcoin if they take a similar stance against that coin as well. For now, everyone is ignoring this risk factor. According to my conclusion the unstable rate will increment with the increment of cost since we have exceptionally moo sum of bitcoin so which makes it more delicate to the advertise changes but when it comes to remain until the end of time or not, only we have the answers. Market works in cycle and no system is perfect from the beginning, it develops in stages. Each cycle brings new big points. A lot of things bring about volatility. Security breaches cause volatility.
Bitcoin can become volatile when the bitcoin community exposes security vulnerabilities in an effort to produce massive open source responses in the form of security fixes.

Bad news hurts adoption rate. News events that scare bitcoin users include geopolitical events and statements by governments that bitcoin is likely to be regulated, etc. On the upside, any statement recognizing butcoin has a positive effect on the market valuation of bitcoin. 

In summary, with gradual adoption of by big corporations firms, governments and others, volatility will gradually reduce.
