I am new to cryptos and I must say that my first experience has been a bad one, I recently visited antminerusa.com and purchased some hardware, that was about 10 days ago, I paid using BTC, now the site is no longer available, its been down for 3 days maybe a bit more, this lead me to think this website is a scam.  Now what should I do to recover my BTC, if the purchase where made using a credit card, I would report it to my bank and they could void or cancel payment, but with BTC what should I do?, if there is nothing that I can do, then it is obvious that using cryptos is a scammers paradise because there is no protection to buyer (that I know), unless there is a way to introduce the complain in the chain in order to reverse payment.

well the buyers can simply do a quick google search and find reviews of the merchants that they are trying to use. specially when it is a website that is selling mining hardware! when you find negative reviews or in this case nothing at all (since it is apparently brand new) that should raise some red flags for you to not use them.

since this website has the word "antminer" in it, you can contact the real company's website (https://www.bitmain.com/) and ask whether they have any kind of affiliation with antminerusa.com, this site may simply be abusing their brand name to scam people.

the protection that you as a buyer could use is an escrow which at its simplest way can be a 2 of 2 multi signature address between you and the merchant but the best way is to use a third party who has no stakes with either side and do a 2 of 3 multi sig.

You can be very Negative about the unreversible transaction that bitcoin has but you can not make a transaction if you don't trust any merchant out there, Trust is the only key in making a transaction but your own knowledge about the things you can do about it is the really important thing in using this kind of convenient transaction, And in my opinion if you want to be safe with scammers then don't use blockchain transaction because it will require trust in performing any transaction, I guess there are other options and converting Crypto to fiat is one of them, If your having doubts anonymous transaction or try using an Escrow to really make a secure online transaction but you will need to make the same agreement with your merchant to perform transaction with escrow.

That's really an awful experience for a newbie, this experience from a newbie will create some negative opinion over bitcoin. Further when he explains it to another user it won't be that attractive, it gives an outlook as something a much risk associated asset.

Here the mistake is with the Op, he hasn't analyzed better about the cryptocurrency usage and the features. Lack of knowledge and getting into usage is the reason for getting caught into a trap site. Sorry to hear that you got scammed. Just google "antminerusa" and you will see shit ton of people accusing  that site of being a scam. To be honest, its you fault (a bit) for not doing some research about that site before buying anything from them.

Please google the website before depositing money there. It's good if you can settle things with the bank if you got scammed, but even better to take your own responsibility and do minimal research before proceeding with financial matters. Yes, Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, and what's sent is sent. But I wouldn't say that it's the problem of Bitcoin. It gives good things like financial freedom from the governments, the funds being really yours (the bank can do quite a lot with your money), no account maintenance fees, no direct connection with your identity, etc. I am sorry that you lost money.

You should look at the social media accounts of that site(if it has any) so that you can see if there is a on going construction of the site or any bugs on the site. Buying bitcoin is safe but you need to make sure you put the right address and bitcoin's transactions are irreversable. It means that you cannot take back what you transacted. But if it's an exchange and it hasn't processed yet, it could get reverted. But, on your case, it is a site.

With bitcoin transaction are irreversible once you issue a transaction that's it so you always need to double check everything before you do it, including the site that you are buying stuff from, you need to check reviews for or ask about it in this forum especially when you are buying something expensive, this irresponsibility is a double edged sword , if you make a mistake your funds are gone you can't get them back, but think about it if this was a scam site which uses credit card  the scammer would have all your info and can take all of your fund from your credit card and your bank account, so bitcoin is still going to be better than cc you just need to be careful and know where to spend it.

It is safe to buy using Bitcoin as long as you know how legit the seller that you are negotiating. I rarely use Bitcoin in most cases since i don't like the hassle of the high volatility, that's why i always use fiat instead. In my life when I use bitcoin as payment system I have to know first the merchant or everything else about the receiver itself, because we don't know who are we dealing with. Unless you use bitcoin to buy something on the company who really use bitcoin as payment system such as expedia and etc, so if you find a problem with them you can ask to their support and most likely they will resolve the problem.

I am really sorry to say this but your funds are lost, you can give it a quick google and find multiple complaints about that domain.

BTC transactions are non reversible, so when using BTC to pay for anything, it is recommended to either use a trusted escrow service, or buy from a trusted source.

Its unfortunate that you bought something from a scam site but before you bought anything online regardless if its going to paid in BTC, credit card or paypal, you should check the integrity of the site first, look for any feedback even if credit card purchases and paypal purchases have buyer protection program.

No one here can recover your BTC when purchased some product, only seller can refund back your BTC.
When you want to buy with BTC payment, what should you do?
1. research first seller, information, detil and reputation.
2. Double it check when store you want purchase have legitimation and not scaming you.
3. this point you purchased with BTC are decentralisation. Its not the payment that is guilty, if you buy goods online with fiat and then you are cheated, it doesn't mean fiat is guilty. same as bitcoin. You have to find a trusted seller, look for online stores that already have a lot of positive feedback, or famous online stores, that's the core of the problem.

Got a bad site and get a bad buy. When buying with a credit card, I carefully check the seller and read reviews. When buying using cryptocurrency, you need to be even more attentive and be sure that the seller is honest (or at least find positive reviews). Honesty is not an exact concept in humans

This is the risk of using crypto currency or Bitcoin you couldn't reverse or void your transaction.

Before buying from any store you should have done the research on that store.  If this store was brand new then you should avoid buying things online from there. Many people are doing this fraud by running the stores and then away with the people money.
As for your question is concerned buying with Bitcoin is completely safe but it depends from where you are buying. Always buy online from trusted stores.

You can't reverse any transaction when it is done already, it is a must to check first the legitimacy of a certain website before you make your first purchase, check its review panel, search it everywhere, do your homework. Also you could see it on their website interface if they are legit or not, you just have to pay attention, don't rush things up especially when you are using crpytocurrencies as the payment method.

That sort of scam happens a lot more in fiat transactions. And it's your responsibility to make sure that you're making purchases on legitimate sites. Once your bitcoin transaction goes through, there's basically no way to recover it anymore. That's one downside of crypto payments that can be negated by buyers being extra careful before clicking that send or confirm button. I can't open the site anymore, I think the site wants you to feel like a victim of a scam. Then if you were able to send Bitcoin to the address they provided, there is a high chance that you will not recover it, so there is no way for you to return it. You cannot actually blame it to bitcoin alone, there are plenty of people who are using bitcoin as a mean of payment and most of it are successful. You cannot actually blame it to bitcoin alone, there are plenty of people who are using bitcoin as a mean of payment and most of it are successful. You were just unlucky that you didn't checked out the credibility of the website you are buying to. Next time, make sure that the site you are going to buy with the use bitcoin is trusted so you can avoid giving out money to the scammers.

Well, that's right, it depends on the site or establishment that you are going to pay using your bitcoin. You must check first if it's legit and also you should check first the review and background of that site or establishment to avoid any problem with your transactions because bitcoin payment is not reversible. You should have investigate at first to know if the site is legit in the first place. Not because it is related to bitcoin it doesn't mean that it is always legit. unfortunately we cannot reverse transactions done through bitcoin. I feel sorry for you but you should move on.

Thats one of the downside of blockchains and cryptos which is difficult to do reverse transaction. If you are dealing with scammer and frauds it is highly chance that you can't expect some refunds and return back. I think before we decide to buy on an online website, we need to make sure that the online store was really trustable. So we don't have to afraid if they will trick us although they can do that with ease. After we can get the right information about the website, we can continue to buy a product from them.

If you are buying from recognized brands and top-notch websites then I don't see a problem at all because it is no different than using Paypal or fiat to buy goods and services. I f you are purchasing stuff though, from unknown sites, I would prefer to use an escrow or if it is for large amounts, get some kind of contract legally drawn up first before handing over my Bitcoin. Some people are buying houses with BTC, so of course, I would highly recommend that they put some legal contracts in place to facilitate a smoothe transaction.

This is unfortunately a sad reality when using bitcoin. If you do not carry out the appropriate research you will always get bitten in the backside, not only for bitcoin but all forms of payment. However, it is most dangerous when using bitcoin as it is completely irreversible. Some banks may be able to offer a refund if you paid using credit card or even better, payment processors such as paypal would definitely help you get your money back.

well the buyers can simply do a quick google search and find reviews of the merchants that they are trying to use. specially when it is a website that is selling mining hardware! when you find negative reviews or in this case nothing at all (since it is apparently brand new) that should raise some red flags for you to not use them.

since this website has the word "antminer" in it, you can contact the real company's website (https://www.bitmain.com/) and ask whether they have any kind of affiliation with antminerusa.com, this site may simply be abusing their brand name to scam people.

the protection that you as a buyer could use is an escrow which at its simplest way can be a 2 of 2 multi signature address between you and the merchant but the best way is to use a third party who has no stakes with either side and do a 2 of 3 multi sig.

That's one of the disadvantages of Bitcoin, so if you are going to use Bitcoin you should be educated to do research if the merchant that you are going to use Bitcoin to buy stuff from them is legit and they are government registered company, even if you cannot do a chargeback at least you have buyer protection and can get a refund, and also always look for the merchants reputation.

You should provide a reliable wallet for that or spend a little like buying a hardware wallet. Well, it depends on the situation. I have been using Bitcoin for buying anything online as long as the merchant accepts cryptocurrency and based on my experience it is safe to use Bitcoin although you must be careful on transacting on different merchant, always do some research first before paying using Bitcoin because the transaction is irreversible once it has 2 or 3 confirmation if i got it right. you must that there are lot of people there with bad intention to scam others using the Bitcoin as front.

crypto is self security. because the crypto system is not centralized. so what management does crypto owners have. when crypto is removed from your wallet, then 90% no responsibility. maybe you're right, crypto is a paradise for scammers. but self-control will kill all that. too many fake websites, so we have to be careful. when your crypto is released, it can't be returned. so you have to understand the concept of decentralization.

I think that now very few educational projects on cryptocurrency and its use have been created. It is necessary to increase the level of knowledge in society regarding cryptocurrency assets. It is good that this forum is functioning quite successfully in many languages of the world.

I am new to cryptos and I must say that my first experience has been a bad one, I recently visited antminerusa.com and purchased some hardware, that was about 10 days ago, I paid using BTC, now the site is no longer available, its been down for 3 days maybe a bit more, this lead me to think this website is a scam.  Now what should I do to recover my BTC, if the purchase where made using a credit card, I would report it to my bank and they could void or cancel payment, but with BTC what should I do?, if there is nothing that I can do, then it is obvious that using cryptos is a scammers paradise because there is no protection to buyer (that I know), unless there is a way to introduce the complain in the chain in order to reverse payment.

Once bitcoin was already sent to the seller, sorry but true it can't be recover. Unless, if before you make a transaction you file a request of escrows and I don't know if that is possible using credit card according to your statement. Even if you report it to the credit card company they also can't do anything from it then. really for your bad experienced, next time be careful pal.
