Quite surprised to see Khurram Shahzad opening the bowling for Pakistan. Apart from Shaheen Shah Afridi, they have selected a very inexperienced bowling squad for this test. Shahzad is playing in his first ever test match (also the first match for Pakistan national team). Recently he performed really well in Pakistan domestic cricket, while playing for Faisalabad. Aamer Jamal is also playing his first test match, and he represents Lahore Whites in domestic cricket. BTW, pitch at Perth Stadium seems to be batsmen friendly and Australia may end up with 400-500 on board by day 2.

^^ He might be a rookie but he's bowling hard length which is interesting because it's his first tour or maybe both openers taking their sweet time because they didn't face him before.

Having said that, so far he's bowling a lot better than Shaheen. After the injury Shaheen looked like a completely different bowler, his speed went down and his swing is nowhere to be seen.

Pakistan recently beat Srilanka by 2 match series by 2-0, and top of world test championship points tables with 24 points. Pakistan made some new players in this squad and chances to get test debut new player like Amir Jamal and khurma Shahzad. I think the pace attack of Pakistan is poor only i experience bowler Shaheen shah Afridi is palying, but Personally i like mir hamza and Hassan in playing Xi against Australia.

I am so excited with this series. Pakistan tour to Australia. This series have 3 test matches and today the first test match will be played. Within 40 minutes match will be started. So the Shan Masood will handle the responsibilities of a Captain.
I know that the Pakistan won the series which they played recently with Srilankan team. But here is Australia. So we can't say any thing that what will happen. I think both teams are strong and ready to beat each other. And I think this is little bit difficult to say that who will win the series. So let's see.

Usually a good score can be made if you bat on the first day on a new pitch. Batting in the second innings is difficult and the chances of losing wickets are high. From this point of view, Australia won the toss and decided to bat. However, if Pakistan's fast bowlers can get Australia's top-order batsmen out very quickly by bowling in the first session, then Australia may be able to keep the score below 300 runs. Ameer Jamal and Khurram Shahzad have made their debut in Pakistan's squad and if they perform well then something positive can come for Pakistan.

Australia is batting very well against Pakistani bowlers. They scored 101 runs in just 20 overs without losing any wicket. Warner remains unbeaten with 64 runs off just 57 balls. Warner's batting, I don't think this is a Test match. Warner is batting at 110 strike rate. No Pakistani bowler can take advantage of this pitch. If this continues we will see 500+ runs in the first innings itself. Australia is a very experienced team in Test format. Faheem Ashraf bowled just 4 overs and conceded 29 runs. He gave more than 7 runs per over. The pitch is batting friendly, so I think this match is more likely to be a draw.

After winning the toss and deciding to bat in the only test, the Indian women's team went into bat. The absence of Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami will surely be a big blow for the Indian women, as they have contributed significantly to the team over the years. They will lack experience and leadership in today's Test match against England Women. Facing a strong and experienced team like England will be a tough task. However, it is also an opportunity for young players to prove themselves on the big stage. While it may be difficult for India women to come out on top in Test matches, cricket is an unpredictable game and anything can happen. Whatever the result, it will be a valuable learning experience for the Indian women's team and they will have an opportunity to gain exposure to the longer format of the game. Hopefully, they can put up a strong fight.

LOL.. Pakistani selectors at their best. But then, the experienced Shaheen Shah Afridi was also bowling like shit today. Fortunately for them, Usman Khawaja was at the other end, and he was batting extremely slowly. If someone like Travis Head was with David Warner, then Australia would have raced to 200/0 by now. Maybe it is time for Pakistan to try some of their spin bowlers.. oh wait.. Pakistan hasn't selected any spinners for this match except part-timer Agha Salman. Another whitewash looks likely for me.

We are not seeing good performances from Pakistani bowlers. I thought I would see better bowling from Shaheen Shah Afridi in this match. But Afridi is also not able to bowl well on this pitch. Australia collected 117 runs in just 25 overs before the lunch break. The Australian team has not lost a single wicket yet. It is easy to understand that the pitch is batting-friendly. Pakistani bowlers will not be able to do much on such a pitch. They still need to bowl with some control. Otherwise, we will see only Australian dominance in the match and the match will also be one-sided.

The Australian team had such a good batting performance that no wicket fell on the first day in the first match. Meanwhile, Pakistan bowled till 27 overs but failed to fall any wicket. Australia team collected 121 runs without a wicket. But I have seen the test match of Bangladesh team, their performance was so bad that on the first day, the entire wicket fell and the match ended with an all-out. But after seeing the performance of Australia and Pakistan team, I think it is a test match. But if the Australian team can survive by protecting the wicket like this, then the Pakistan team will fail to meet the target of the Australian team.

LOL.. all of a sudden David Warner has gone for the defense mode. And the debutant Khurram Shahzad is actually bowling really well, getting some late movement. He is looking much better when compared to the experienced Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Edit: Finally Shaheen Shah Afridi gets a wicket, as he nabs Usman Khawaja. Australia are at 126/1 and now Marnus Labuschagne has come out to join Warner at the crease. From what I am seeing, both Shahzad and Shaheen are getting a lot of late movement from this pitch. And it will be interesting once the Australians come out to bowl.

Australia batted brilliantly against Pakistan on the first day, scoring 126 runs at the start of the Test match with the loss of just 1 wicket. David Warner is in great form and he is unbeaten on 76 off 86 balls, he will surely bat brilliantly to score a century. The way Australia managed to score a great score against Pakistan, however, no one would say that they are playing a Test match, but the Australian team is playing like a T20. If the way the Australian team is batting against Pakistan continues, it is definitely possible to collect 500 plus runs on the first day. The bowling performance of Pakistan bowlers is not very good due to which they are not able to take any wickets but if Pakistan can improve their bowling performance then definitely it will be possible to stop Australia.

However, because Australia's Perth stadium is basically a batting support wicket, the run score will be much higher. However, after Sheen Afridi picked up the wicket of Usman Khawaja, Australia's scorecard slowed down the run rate somewhat. But at the end of today's game, it is very likely that Australia's innings will reach 350+.

They are 204/2 with Warner batting at 108. Just now the debutant Shahzad dropped one of the easiest chances he will ever get from Warner. Agha Salman would have got a much deserved wicket. Fielding from Pakistan has been poor so far. They dropped multiple catches, and then conceded several runs from misfields as well. And given how Agha Salman has bowled till now, the pitch seems to have some support for the spinners. Unfortunately for Pakistan, they went with an all-pace attack and doesn't have any full-time spinners in their playing XI.

Well... I agree that the number of test matches should be reduced. Apart from a few series such as the Ashes, Border-Gavaskar and Trans-Tasman, very few cricket fans nowadays watch the test matches. And even then, teams spend anywhere from 50 to 80 days every year playing test cricket (more than that in any other format). The way to move forward is to reduce the number of test matches, and to increase the number of T20 matches. But there is a lot of resistance from the ICC and BCCI. The sooner they realize it, that better.

You have a weird obsession with Trans-Tasmen series  . It's considered one of the dead bilateral series in Australia, it's similar to Ind vs SL where only one team wins and statspad all the time.

I noticed many posters are here saying that Test cricket is dying, this statement is half true. Numbers suggest that in BIG-3, it's doing more than enough, you have to look at how CA and ECB are fetching big amounts for their test series against India. In the current cycle Media rights deal broke the previous records.

Test cricket is dying argument only works when someone is playing 3 or 2 matches series.

Here I agree, now test cricket is dying for the all other than BIG-3 which are having strong system and better environment for this as well all others are down with few are already out, and we have no positive chance for them to fightback into this format just because of this I am consistently saying ICC needs to rethink about this format and for improve of quality and performance they need to have few restrictions if these works in next few others then ok otherwise just having T20i format now could be beneficial for all members, and they can take good profit from this as well which will help them just like soccer leagues are doing in all countries.

India is the best country for the red-ball format with England and Australia are also having profit, but this all is just going between these three and if India is touring in countries like South Africa, New Zealand and West Indies then they are also having profit otherwise these all are having nothing to do with this format.

India vs South Africa and India vs New Zealand series will be competitive as long as India is the touring side. Can't say the same about West Indies. Anyway, irrespective of whether it is generating adequate interest or not, test cricket should be cut down to size. In today's fast moving world, no one has enough time to watch a game that spans over 40 hours. It is a massive waste of productivity. None of the other sports come anywhere near. Even if a football match ends up in penalty shootout, it seldom stretches for more than 2.5 hours.

Naseem Shah is unfit while Haris Ruaf preferred playing BBL then to play this test series against Australia. In absence of these 2 main pacers, Pakistan left only with these options. So far Aussie batting has destroyed Pakistan bowling and main reason is David Warner who is not out on 150. Aussies have made 289 runs so far and by stumps they will make 350/375. I don't think Pakistan batting has so much depth that they can chase down 400 or 500 against Aussie bowling lineup.

So, it is Warner who is the reason for 293 on the first day. 150 runs done for Warner next would be 200 if Pakistan doesn't comes up with a strategy. Not looking good for Pakistan as there are plenty of wickets left. If Warner continues then before the day end 350 runs might be on the scoreboard. Shaheen Afridi's charm hasn't been working after the Asia Cup, only 1 wicket till now. The combo of Naseem Shah and Afridi was the best Pakistan had until Shah's injury.

The way Australia is batting against Pakistan in the first test match, it may be possible for them to score 500+ runs today. Although Australia's run rate may drop at the moment, David Warner's dismissal is likely to be good for Pakistan. As long as David Warner has been at the crease, the run rate has increased tremendously, but now that he is out, the run rate may decrease. David Warner scored 164 off 211 balls and there was no doubt that he would have scored a double century had he stayed on till the end. However, Aamer Jamal managed to take a great wicket, but the quick runs that Australia put up were really huge scores. Australia might give Pakistan a huge lead in today's match, and it looks like it will be very difficult for Pakistan to collect this huge run score. However, at the moment Australia has collected 322 wickets in 5 overs at 75.2, Australia team is showing great performance on the first day against Pakistan.

1st test Australia won toss and batting first and they made 355/5 in 80 overs of Day 1 usman khawaja made 41 runs and trevis head 40 runs while brilliant batting by David Warner 164 runs inning played David warner always excellent performance against pakistan and this is last series of Wwarner. on pak side ammir jamal takes 2 wickets while shaheen shah, khurram shahzad and faheem ashraf took single wickets. None of the other Australian batsmen could make a half-century, and that shows how he dominated the Pakistani batsmen. Usman Khawaja was the second highest scorer with 41, followed by 40 from Travis Head. The two debutants for Pakistan (Aamer Jamal and Khurram Shahzad) shared three wickets between them, while the more experienced bowlers went for plenty. My guess is that Australia may end with 400-450, which is still not enough to enforce follow on.
