Travis Head is man of the match by his century but i fell bad for Josh Hazlewood who got total 9wickets from two innings. In test cricket, only South Africa and Pakistan are competent against the pig-4 teams. Others like Bangladesh and West Indies are there just to make up the numbers. And that is the reason why I have always argued for a 6 or 7 team first division instead of the current 9 team setup. We can have pig 4 + SA + Pakistan in the first division and the other 6 teams in second division. But then, teams like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are never going to agree, because this would mean a demotion for them. ICC need to do it, if they want to save test cricket.

In the past Brian Lara, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan were the ones who found themselves in trouble and now it is the turn of Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kraigg Brathwaite. Most of the West Indies players who have been given opportunities are new players and inexperienced players. We go back to the West Indies team of yesteryear when Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Shivnarayaan Chandrapaul were regulars but their Test team was very strong as in other formats. The performance of the current players of the West Indies team is not promising. But I remember one West Indies batsman I watched playing was Brian Lara who single-handedly scored 400 runs in an innings which is still a world record in Test history. West Indies need a Brian Lara like this now so that they can play well and win the Test series as well.

And also, he comes as the first change bowler and hardly ever opens the bowling. That is also one of the reasons. But over the years, he has done a splendid role for the Australians. And the best part is that he still have another 3-4 years of prime cricket remaining with him. He was also exceptional during the series against Pakistan, which got concluded recently.

Yes I thought after watching this match maybe Hazlewood will be awarded Man of the Match but TravisHead was awarded Man of the Match because he scored a century. Hazelwood and Cummins both took four wickets in the first innings of the first Test match against the West Indies.However, in this innings Pat Cummins gave less runs than Hazelwood and took the same number of wickets. However, in the second innings too, Hazelwood took five wickets against West Indies team.

The second Test match between Australia and West Indies is scheduled to start on January 25. Let's see how well HazleWood can perform in this test match and how well he can bowling against West Indies. If he continues this best ball performance in every test match then he can be man of the series in this test series.

Anyway, he is 33 years old and has another 3-4 years of international cricket left (provided he stays injury-free). And Hazlewood is one of those players who participate in all the formats. And this increases the probability of getting injured. Actually Cricket Australia should ask players like Hazlewood and Starc to focus on test format. But then I am not sure whether these players will agree to that, since they just landed with lucrative deals in IPL.

The current West Indies team is quite different from the previous West Indies team. The previous team had enough talent to play all formats of Test ODI T20 but the current team is busy with T20 only, ODI and Test they have no headache. Now most of the players of West Indies are cricketers only to play various domestic tournaments but they have no headache about this poor state of cricket in the country. We admit that playing various domestic tournaments earns more money but playing national cricket can bring fame to the country. West Indies do not play various bilateral series throughout the year so the West Indies players must play seriously in the few series that are organized by the West Indies Cricket Board.
