Even though it is not ethereum, bitcoin will get replaced in the future for sure. Bitcoin is just like the mobile brand called Nokia where they are the pioneer of the market of cellphone and the smartphones came and they dominate the market and eventually, they replaced Nokia from being one of the best seller and Nokia is just a part of the history of cellphones.
I doubt it will be replaceable in terms of altcoins, maybe in other method of usage like in paying or doing transcations but in altcoins its still way too far among other alts, eth can be surpass by XRP but BTC can still be in the top as long as no new alternatives will be involved like how some stocks and forex holderd shift in crypto before. Nothing beats bitcoin as long as more community of crypto still supports bitcoin as their mode of exchange. Just like with ethereum it has it's own circulation of contracts like the platform it has, and now getting slow to increase because those token value declined after bearish trend worsen. If given some opportunity that eth will be near competing bitcoin's legacy, that's a big help for other coins backed up by ethereum to obtain higher market value.

The dominance of bitcoin in the crypto market is no doubt. Bitcoin holds the market control with the highest trading volume. But will dominance not be matched by ETH? In my opinion, nothing is impossible in this world. It's just that, for the bitcoin market volume does not seem to be easily rivaled by other altcoins even though it's ETH. The world is increasingly advanced, and digital technology will continue to develop so that on the other hand I think people will not be surprised if indeed one day bitcoin will be replaced by ETH through trading volume.

You know what? you are forgetting something which is TRUST! People trust bitcoin more than any other cryptocurrency in the world because bitcoin is the first truly decentralized currency yet the most popular crypto in the world while ETHEREUM is centralized unlike bitcoin and second in popularity compared to bitcoin as well. Even if that would happen it is going to take more than 20 years minimum.
Believe that trust can change within a few days. Including confidence in bitcoin. Therefore, you should not go for a popular name, you need to go for advanced technology. Therefore, the argument that bitcoin is now trusted the most does not sound convincing to me at all. As for ethereum's possible leadership, it could be. It is also likely that a coin may appear at all, about which we have not yet heard, and that it can be one of the following leaders. I say this because I am absolutely sure that in the future there will not be a pronounced leader after bitcoin. There will be several leaders at once, but none of them will have price dominance in the cryptocurrency market. Moreover, not applicants for leadership will rise in price, but bitcoin will lose it over time.

Ethereum will never touch the price of bitcoin. It is doubtful if eth can ever cross $1000. It's like a dream that eth will ever come close to bitcoin prices. Ethereum developer is trying their best to reach in a good position. I expect ETH to get to a good position but ETH will never be able to replace BTC.

ETH will follow bitcoin with respect to price for sure. But I am not sure about ETH replacing BTC. This is more of psychological thing. However ETH adoptation is at its maximum when compared to BTC. This might give edge to ETH to replace BTC but it will take another 10 years atleast.

To be honest, I want that to happen as well. However in reality, it will take ages. There should be some basis for ETH to replace BTC which I dont see it at this moment.

No and never If that happen it seems really weird to be honest
I mean Although BTC doesn't have a smart contract platform, tx speed is slow However, Bitcoin still hold a strong dominance in the crypto market and the financial market
Tons of people who are not in the crypto market actually respected the position of Bitcoin as #1 So i don't see it getting replaced

Ethereum will never replace bitcoin because of only two things which are "trust" and "decentralization". people trust bitcoin more than any other altcoin out there. when we are talking of decentralization, ethereum is not decentralized like bitcoin. bitcoin is fully decentralized more than any other altcoin in the world

Don't think ethereum will ever replace bitcoin, these two projects are too different in my opinion. Bitcoin is like crypto gold, ethereum is like crypto dollar. They play different roles and don't compete with each other.

I think its not about marketcap at all, cause if we compared it to btc clearly still far from reality, however I'm a fan of ethereum and seeing its continuously developing its network with lots of progress I can still see s bright future for it even though closer to btc price is already an achievement. It's not about position but the clarity and usefulness of a platform.

Ethereum, being the world's second largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has all the potential of replacing Bitcoin in the future. It's more than just a cryptocurrency, being a platform for the development and execution of smart contracts (aka dApps). With ETH, it's possible to launch alternative cryptocurrencies without the need to start a Blockchain from scratch. It's also possible to use the ETH blockchain for other purposes such as voting, proof of identity, verification of documents, and more. In contrast, Bitcoin's only use is for finance where it cannot be implemented in other areas by its own. Given all of the benefits Ethereum provides on top of Bitcoin, it makes me wonder whenever it'll be able to replace the pioneer cryptocurrency within the future? As long as, Ethereum keeps progressing in development and mainstream acceptance, it'll be much closer to Bitcoin every step of the way. What are your thoughts? what you say is true but in my opinion in terms of value, popularity and market capitalization of ethereum is still far below bitcoin. and a limited amount of bitcoin will make bitcoin more valuable in the future. So I think it will be difficult for ethereum to change the position of bitcoin. although ethereum has better technology than bitcoin.

That's the one that I'm waiting for, because I saved a little of my money in ETH, everyone doesn't know what will happen in the future, ETH also has a team that has very good performance, so it's no wonder that one day ETH will replace Bitcoin.

I am very happy if ethereum replace bitcoin some day, I still hold ether now hope can back to higher price and hope some day become replace of bitcoin position, looks impossible with bitcoin can replace by ether because bitcoin price very higher and ether very cheap, more than 400% bitcoin and ether have different price look nothing can replace to change bitcoin.

yes maybe ethereum can take over bitcoin but not in the near future., ethereum is the biggest altcoin among other altcoins. I still believe that Ethereum has potential and will always develop in the future. In addition, ethereum has a smart platform and also a great team in developing its projects.

In my own personal opinion, i don't think ethereum could have a chance to replace bitcoin because bitcoin has more value and it is the number one cryptocurrency in the market, that is why ethereum doesn't have a chance to defeat bitcoin. But if ethereum really replaces bitcoin someday i think bitcoin will start to lose it's value little by little because people will start to lose interest to buy bitcoin.

You have point OP. However, I don't think Ethereum will become as popular as Bitcoin. When you mention cryptocurrency to some random guy, his first association, if any, will be Bitcoin. Ethereum is most definitely better option when it comes to development, but Bitcoin will be the leading currency always.

The ethereum has all the potentials needed to replace bitcoin but that is not going to happen right now perhaps in the next 20 to 30 years in the future. If you look that market right now you can see the market is fully dominated by bitcoin with over 66% and ethereum has less than 10% of the market dominance. it is going take long time for etherum to replace bitcoin though.

I don't know if Ethereum will ever surpass Bitcoin in market cap, but its blockchain vastly outperforms Bitcoin almost every step of the way. Because Bitcoin is the OG cryptocurrency, it has garnered a level of trust that Ethereum hasn't reached quite yet. Perhaps as crypto goes more mainstream, people will see the benefits of Ethereum in comparison to Bitcoin - but I think we're still quite a long way off from that. Personally, I started off buying Bitcoin off of marketplaces like Vertex, and then branched out to diversify my portfolio a bit (still working on it - obviously).

The dominance is always rising lately for bitcoin and it seems that the market share for ETH has sunken for the moment because back then when ETH is on its peak it have so much ICO to support the market capitalization of ETH and also the price aswell but now most of the project are using some exchanges' blockchainso that'd be a huge stepback for ETH if really trying to conquer the market by becoming number 1. ETH seems like just being used as a footstep to be honest. Its capitalization not really coming from itself but by the existence of another project.

all possibilities can happen and the desire of investors is also like that to replace bitcoin is not possible but if the price and the equivalent value might be possible it could be possible with the amount of interest in investing with coins will develop rapidly, in my opinion everything can happen because it is not anyone can predict the development of any crypto currency
