Barcelona have extended the point gap to 8 points after winning Sevilla. To make things worse, the absence of Karim Benzema also affected the team’s performance. With Barcelona's current form I think it will be difficult for Real Madrid to catch up.

Real Madrid is so unpredictable in their matches recently, I don't know if the absence of Benzema is the cause of it. Barcelona are very likely to defeat Villarreal actually. Because Villarreal aren't having good days recently.

Villarreal even lost to Elche which didn't have any win until this match. It was a quite big defeat also. This would be shocking for the team for sure. Maybe this could cause their defense line to still have serious weaknesses against Barcelona also. I remember their Real Madrid match in which they fought bravely and won. It's really pain to see that odd. Real madrid has such big odds. that being said if real madrid has very small chance to win la liga compared with barcelona. The situation can change drastically. El classico is just reducing three points while real has 8 points gap to the barcelona

I think it has a lot to do with getting some brand new players integrated into the squad. Barcelona was playing like a fully squeezed lemon with all those oldies running around. They just have had enough, players like Pique. Gavi, Torres, Raphael and even Lewandowski brought in immense new motivation. That is one major reason why they are now again performing on another level. I think it is difficult to tell how much of a contribution Xavi is actually responsible for. He is most likely very good at communicating effectively. In the beginning I thought he might not make it, but he solved problems and got things under control.
