Virralleal's defeat last week became one of the conditions where now Barcelona is increasingly favored.
Villarreal's current condition is not very good including with 2 defeats in the last 2 matches they have run, this is really bad for a dark horse team which means that now they have not developed significantly and the points are still not too safe to be in the top 6.
Barcelona obviously want to keep securing points now while they can, 8 points is quite a lot but it definitely could catch up if they don't do well.

We can still give some credits to Real Madrid in this season compared to other top clubs in the international leagues in the last season but are underperforming in an alarming level this season.

At this point, no defeat should come as suprise to you no more, did you not see Real Madrid lossing to Marloca for the second time this season ? Expect that at all times especially these big dogs.

Via Villarreal, they've literally accumulated just four points in the last five game's which is not a good one if they're to make it to the Champions League positions next season. And Barcelona, they've won all of them last five games both the Copa Del Rey and La Liga.
For betting sake, I expect Villarreal to hold down the catalians as they prepare for the Europa League Clash against Manchester United.

I don't know whether the Supercopa title would help Xavi if he fails to take home any other title. Given that Barcelona plays a solid Primera Division season, Xavi should be safe and we will see him as a coach next season as well no matter what. I think a lot of negative events would have to happen in order for Xavi to still get fired, but I don't see that coming at all. This is possible because even though it is a Supercopa, their target of 1 trophy is still achieved, especially with some of their current conditions, they are still in the Copa del Rey and of course the La Liga competition is still very open for them, it is clear that the higher-ups will not make the mistake of not retaining Xavi. .

Real Madrid is so unpredictable in their matches recently, I don't know if the absence of Benzema is the cause of it. Villarreal has been having problems as of late, therefore it's reasonable to assume Barcelona will win. The team's loss to Elche was a major setback, and they'll need to put in a lot of work to get back on track. However, it should be emphasized that Villarreal beat Real Madrid owing to a superb performance and a tenacious defense of their lead, proving that they can hold their own against the best.

But on the other hand, implementing a safer strategy by not being too ambitious and resting some of the core players is also quite good for Xavi in maintaining the condition of the players so that something undesirable doesn't happen when they face Manchester United later.

8 points can be accumulated with the next few games, Real Madrid is already aware of what is ahead of them and I am sure they will take the necessary measures to cover that point gap as early as possible, and there will not be leaving anything to chance.
