I haven't been so shocked in my life like the day I realized Madrid lost 4:2 to Girona...that too has contributed to the big slag on the table. The only have a difference of 2 points ahead of athletico and that's not a guarantee that they'll maintain that position for Long.. although the goal difference is about 9, it could actually be covered in two matches yunno that right?..

Yes it's a better option. But in my opinion, with the remaining matches which leave 5 more matches, of course they can maximize the chances of being runners up, right?  They have the better strength of the teams below them but anything can happen quickly if their players are out for the rest of the game due to injury.

I think that if you are putting this as the main concern and you will be able to see if ancelotti didn't even seriously consider this match as an important match. Ancelotti sacrifices three points against real sociedad caused by it wanna see its team to focus in UCL. The second or fourth positions in the La Liga standings are actually not much different because they are still in the UCL zone, so that makes Real Madrid have the option to look after the core players who are being hit by injuries. It was a tough match for Barcelona, because many people thought that Barcelona will use that red card Osasuna got at 27 minutes to achieve many goals from the match but they struggle to got one goal at 85 minutes to defeated Osasuna 1-0. If not the red card Osasuna player got in the first half, it would have be difficult for Barcelona to win this match because despite the 10 players in the field, Osasuna players still displayed well till 85 minutes before Barcelona strikers gain access to their goalpost to achieved victory from the match. I think, Barcelona coach need to work on their defense because their strikers were not comfortable in the front because of the defense that was not too strong through out the match.

I think that for people who have very familiar with the real madrid and seeing the line up that being used by ancelotti against real sociedad is enough to determine if real madrid would not be performing so well. Real madrid is missing so many players.
