I get that Madrid is the most successful team in Europe, so definitely they'll get a lot of supporters around the world especially fans of teams like Manchester United and Chelsea and Ronaldo fans, but that shouldn't be subjective. The point it's, that it's always been Madrid's heritage to have some of the finest footballers around, but still, Barcelona always competes.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are the biggest rivals in Spanish club football but considering the achievement of both clubs over the years, it's obvious that the Madrid club have had more success especially in Europe than Barcelona have managed to get. Currently, the Real Madrid club is enjoying dominance in not just Spain but in the whole Europe and while Barcelona on the other hand is struggling to maintain their status as one of the strongest teams in Spain. At the end of last season, Barcelona management sacked the club's former manager Xavi Hernandez and replaced him with German manager Hansi Flick who's reign at the club will commence next season but Flick's biggest problem at the moment is that Barcelona is currently struggling in their finances which has limited their chances of signing quality footballers.
For Real Madrid, they have a very strong squad that's regarded as the strongest in Europe because of the arrival of a world class striker like Kylian Mbappe and Brazilian youngster Endrick. For Barcelona to get strong enough to challenge Real Madrid in the domestic competitions and in Europe, I think it'll take the club longer time than most of us think and they'll also have to invest hugely in signing new quality players to the team

Barcelona have reach agreement with many sponsorship from Nike until selling their stadium name become Spotify Camp Nou but still can't help with Barcelona financial crisis. Need huge investor to help Barcelona financial if won't get difficult to sign most quality player every season without waiting sign players have been free agent.
I don't know what is the first thing make Barcelona face financial problem and become more longer time until right now every season get difficulty to make financial balance when registering new players.

After sacking Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona get problem left with any staff not paying their compensation and Xavi keep respect with his team just ask his staff salary only although he still has compensation behind has one year contract left.
