I'm just looking at that World Athletics Championships today because I'm sure the winner will be the favorites in the Summer 2020 Olympics. Specially in the 100 m and 200 m, so here are the results.
100 m:
Gold, Christian Coleman ( USA ), Silver, Justin Gatlin ( USA ), surprised that Gatlin is still very active and Bronze, Andre De Grasse ( CAN )
200 m:
Gold, Noah Lyles (USA), Silver Andre De Grasse ( CAN ) and Bronze goes to (Ecuador) Alex Quinonez
So remember those names as early as today because for sure the same guys are going to duke it out for the coveted medals in Tokyo next year again.

I also found this channel in youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTl3QQTvqHFjurroKxexy2QIt's also interesting that Karate, originates from the host nation. So expect them to get medals on the inauguration of this sport. Also, Japan is also know for their softball and I'm sure that they will field a very strong contingent. And if some of you guys are fan of swimming, Sun Yang Chinese swimming superstar, who won golds in 2012 and 2016 Olympics is involved in a doping controversy. MONTREUX, Switzerland (AP) — One of China’s biggest Olympic stars fought Friday for his right to compete at the Tokyo Games during a rare public hearing that turned combative at times, as champion swimmer Sun Yang defended his refusal to complete a doping test last year. https://olympics.nbcsports.com/tag/sun-yang/

Skateboarding Surfing
Really? Skateboarding and Surfing are now Olympic Sports? How is that possible when they are not an actual sport? This is what the Thomas Bach, IOC president: “The four sports that Paris has proposed are all totally in line with Olympic Agenda 2020 because they contribute to making the programme more gender balanced and more urban, and offer the opportunity to connect with the younger generation,” said IOC President Thomas Bach. “The proposed sports are in line with these principles and enhance Paris 2024’s overall dynamic Games concept, which focuses on inclusivity, inspiring a new audience and hosting socially responsible Games.” https://www.olympic.org/news/breaking-skateboarding-sport-climbing-and-surfing-provisionally-included-on-paris-2024-olympic-sports-programmeSo I guess even the Olympics needs to evolved and include these kind of "sports" to cater the young generations.

This is really ridiculous. How can surfing and sport climbing be Olympic sports? They are making a mockery of the Olympics. I even heard that there were demands for computer gaming and break-dancing to be included in the Olympics. I don't know what they are going to achieve with any of this. On the other hand, I would like cricket to be included in the Olympics.

Skateboarding Surfing
Really? Skateboarding and Surfing are now Olympic Sports? How is that possible when they are not an actual sport? It's sport, but I don't think it should be included in Olympics. IMO events like diving, artistic gymnastics or figure skating shouldn't be in Olympics because there only subjective judge decisions decide who will win. Or Baseball and softball - how many countries besides USA are actually playing it? Why not to include something serious like Rugby (not rugby sevens) or cricket. I even would love to see snooker or darts in Olympic games.

Diving, artistic gymnastics and figure skating are difficult to judge and the judges scoring them might have biased opinion, but other than the Olympics i never saw those events even in television and there are not much audience for it either in my opinion Or Baseball and softball - how many countries besides USA are actually playing it? Rugby and T20 cricket should be including in the next Olympics but my doubt is that in Olympics you cannot include players who are doing professional sports playing in other cricketing leagues around the world but it is a good thing to see more sports being included in the Olympics.

Actually the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association has been active in the past year to include the game this coming 2020 Olympics, but I think we have to wait 2024. Four years ahead of its original target, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association has engaged heavily in working alongside the World Confederation of Billiard Sports on a bid for inclusion in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. http://www.worldsnooker.com/2020-vision-cue-sports-target-tokyo-olympics/

Rugby is already there. Rugby sevens featured as one of the items during the 2016 Olympics (after a long hiatus) and it will be one of the items for the next Olympics (2020 Tokyo) as well. Sometimes I feel jealous about the rugby fans. They got a global body (World Rugby) which actually cares about the popularity of the sport, unlike the case with cricket where we have a bunch of greedy selfish clowns in the ICC.

I doubt that decision can be changed after appeal. From what I read Russia simply didn't took enough actions to solve problems after all these doping scandals. So, this ban is very harsh penalty, but probably is right. But it's good that clean athletes will be allowed to participate in Olympics, but only with neutral flag. It's interesting that their football team will be allowed to play in EURO 2020, but in World Cup 2022 they will have to play with neutral flag.

From what I read Russia simply didn't took enough actions to solve problems after all these doping scandals. I think that is the main issue. There are doping cases in all countries, but it is important how you handle those issues, and it seems that Russia failed in that regard. Or at least it was perceived like that by WADA. Luckily, some Russian athletes will still be able to compete, just not under Russian flag though.

With the retirement of the great Usain Bolt we now have the opportunity to reclaim the 100 and 200 meter gold and relay and Christian Coleman, Justin Gatlin and Noah Lyles are the hopefuls for the next Olympics and the relay team is also great and could win the gold after a decade and what about the rest of the countries especially Jamaica, who are their top prospects now.

Well she could be an attraction in the games, but her performance is going downhill.
As for Russia being banned from the competition, well they can make an appeal but I think the decision is final here. It was really an embarrassment for the sports, so it is what it is. And this sends strong signal to other countries as well not to taint or cheat. @BChydro - even though that Bolt has retired, there are a lot of Jamaican that can replace him that's for sure.

In terms of online security, Tokyo 2020 Staff Warns of Phishing Disguised As Official Emails. So it looks like criminals are targeting agencies related to Tokyo 2020 or maybe the athletes themselves. Perhaps they wanted to steal credentials here or maybe exposed most of them and ask for a ransom.

@BChydro - even though that Bolt has retired, there are a lot of Jamaican that can replace him that's for sure. I was expecting someone from US to replace Bolt , we have Christian Coleman who won the gold medal in the 100 meter during the World Championships in Doha and Justin Gatlin is still running in good form as he won the silver, i was expecting Yohan Blake to carry on the torch as he was running well in the past but now he is not in great shape as he came in 5th during the world championships and there was no other person from Jamaica in the 100m finals.
