For me, what really matters is on how you look at yourself as a gambler. Gambling is not bad, the only negative part in that is how you deal with it, if you are an experienced gambler and have known to control it, I think it is not a bad image. What really matters is on how you look at yourself and believe that you are rightful to be a candidate and it will show. Other people's thoughts and opinions are only for them, just show them what you really are and be a rightful participant.

in short show what you are and dont hide your self to the public just because you are gambling  , in that way they will know your personality and they can easily accept you   rather than hiding and make your self look like shady   . by doing those said act , people will get curious on you and they will think that your a untrusted person like your hiding something   from them   . lets be condifent enough and accept whatever people will think on us , what important is we are happy playing a gambling  .

If you're aiming for a higher position even gambling is just for entertainment, it still doesn't matter. People will still give a negative impression on how you act and will use it against you. Most of the people have negative thoughts on gambling and treat it as a bad doings so better not do that.

If you're into politics, then you should always think that there everything you do might use to you so better to think every movement you're making and don't trust easily.

It's really sad that some people aren't open-minded about not treating gambling as normal doing. I also felt that in online gaming, government bans playing computer games even it's not the real reason for people's bad behavior.

Gambling for majority especially those who does not understand it is really not pleasing, so there is no need to show that you are gambling if you can hide it and do it secretly yourself, when you want to achieve something like in politics, you need to sacrifice something too, and gambling could be one and sometimes you need to choose between the two.

Not only politicians but also those actresses and actors are some of them hiding when they want to gamble just for the sake of what reputation they had. But for me, I want to be true. I dont want to hide just because of what position I had.

But I will reduce the activeness in gambling if I have a serious job or something position that I want to keep my reputation clean.
People had a different way of where they want and make them happy. I don't see gambling as a threat to your reputation as long as you are not addicted to it.

Gambling for fun are not an issue but we can't control those mind of other people because they will still have to say even we playing gambling for fun only and to relieve some stress. That's why I will leave gambling since I'm not addicted to this so I can easily limit my self to not gamble.

Well, sometimes people are judging the other from what they see, and it's like judging from just the cover without taking time to know who are they. That is what happens in our society, and they don't know the other things that we did besides playing gambling so they can easily judge wrong to us. Yes, we don't have to listen to them, as long as we can have responsibility for our life, and we don't harm other people, I think that will be enough for us, and people out there will see who we are.

Judgmental people are always there, just continue on what you are doing and just do what you enjoy, as long as you are being yourself many will see you as a real person, and not someone who are just doing good things for people to see.

I think people need to have a neutral position and not trying to give something they don't know. But that is what happens around us, and we don't need to listen to them. As long as we don't do a bad thing or harm them, we can do whatever we want to do. Being ourselves is a must as we need to show to them that we are not as what they taught. Let them think anything about us.

the question is what kind of gambler are we talking here?because there are gamblers that plays only when they felt like boring and also there are gambling that plays at least daily but with little amount and there are gambler that addicted and those are can be differentiate and may be understandable by constituents.i think if you are not addicted?i don;'t see any problem to make your reputation at stake as people nowadays are not that stupid to judge us for being responsible gambler.

It is obvious that they have faith in you that is why they decided to put you up into a candidate for councilor.

I wonder the same because if someone has elected you for a task or role than they must have faith in your capabilities and you should not worry about being a gambler or drug addict. Yes when you are performing such task you should avoid talks about gambling but if somehow they discuss you about and you respect yourself as a gambler then you should explain them easily without an issue.

I wouldn't stop gambling and I would clarify that I only gamble occasionally to have fun with my friends and it wouldn't affect my work as their councilor.

On a second thought though I think he wanted to say like when we are given extra responsibilities then we change our attitude at times because I myself was someone who used to be very lazy but when I heard I had to be in a camp about sports it changed my life as I used to wake up early and got more aware about heath,etc.

That's why it's crazy to think that there is a politician who's willing to lose his carrier just to continue his gambling addiction and it's plain simple to think for the answer since for sure majority of the people will select the political carrier since as you said it's always a win from them and the money is always flowing on that while in gambling a pure head ache and a losing streak will always occur on us.

from what I see of the many threads that are created here ... Most people live in a society where gambling is banned and viewed in a bad way. I will give an example of my case:

In my country, gambling is not prohibited and is well regarded. There are gamble on every street in my country and sports betting in my country. If a person manages to earn a lot of money with gambling, that person is well regarded in my country, and that is why even if someone who plays gamble was a candidate for some government position in my country that person would be well regarded.

Yes I would, It would help a lot for me and for the people who would vote for me if I would stop gambling.

Reputation has nothing to do with being a gambler . Even the most honest and successful men make gambling options from time to time. The issue is trust. It's a known fact that additive gamblers can't be trusted with money as they tend  use all their funds to gamble abd when they lose it, they are unable to control themselves and thus uses any funds they can lay their hands on.

I have friends who are gamblers but are very trustworthy. You don't have to be a pastor to be trustworthy.

If someone gambles just for fun and he totally has full control of his gambling habits it will not be a problem at all. Being a responsible gambler also means you are a trustworthy and responsible man. It is ok not to stop gambling because by the sound of it your friend trusts you for him giving that position.

I concur with your statements but only partially because while I agree that being given a particular responsibility like a councilor or something should not alter how my life goes because I believe in being as realistic as possible in life.

But where is disagree is, getting a particular responsibility does makes one more conscious about their routine and gambling is nothing that one takes seriously and it's like I have to visit a conference tomorrow then I would consciously try to avoid smoking much because I have other things in mind and gambling and other addictions work only when you are sort of bored.

Thats right but some people are looking for a public servant with a good image. When we say gambling it means there's a money involved people might think a person with this habit and win a position will only spend the budget of community for his own satisfaction. Very essential things that till the time you are doing things legally then reputation would not even be effected . But if people who gamble when it is illegal may hamper the reputation and can cause a sign of worry . Look society plays a bigger role than what we think sometimes and at least the people around me would be feeling down about me if they know I am gambling. Yes some people might say that it is only my insecurity but the truth is the society does judge you based on what your habits are for example someone who reads books and novels is considered to be very trusted and loyal.

It's something like I am addicted to alcohol and I see no problem with it and feel god myself but that does not mean others will also feel proud about by drinking if I am confident about it.

i always Hate seeing politicians in news that gets involved in Gambling because it looks like they are also gamble the future of their people.

as i believe that once a gambler will always be a gambler and having this attitude will also apply in their administrations.
so if i am to vote?i will never vote a Political person that involving in this kind of activities,this is my stand and will always be.
