It's very common that there are people in the government who are smokers, drunkards and gamblers. But it's not the thing that defines them but it's how they perform while being inside the office and knowing that they're like doesn't define themselves of being how effective they are as a public servant.

Thats right but some people are looking for a public servant with a good image. When we say gambling it means there's a money involved people might think a person with this habit and win a position will only spend the budget of community for his own satisfaction. Yes what you really are in private doesnt define you as a public servant. But still, gambling might use against a person to destroy his reputation even you're not corrupt and responsible person in politics.

As I know with these politicians, we as citizens, we don't really know them personally and their habits.

I don't really have anything if he's into gambling but if he can control gambling as well as his emotion, I don't think it's too much of an issue. Well, as citizens we have our own conviction with this matter.

Many those people in the world are judgmental and we can’t removed it in the mindset of those people. But the only way or solution that we can make is to “PROVE THEM WRONG” because they have a mindset that if you a gambler your just want only a money that’s all and if you want to run as a counselor or any positions in politics they already thinking that you’ve used your position to collect all their money, so that as a gambler you only thing that you can do is to prove them wrong like construct or think a program that will benefit the most of all your scope so that their negative thinking will change into positive, so push for it.

That is the initial mindset of the people, that is, to see the people bad if they gamble, as someone who couldn't be trusted. I could say, there's nothing wrong about gambling if you what you gamble is your own money. But when it comes to running as a councilor, I think they are quite reasonable to do not trust you knowing that you gamble. Why? In the first place, what you could earn is the taxes from people, what you need to create project is their taxes, so they might really suspect you used that in gambling.

Though this will varies with opinions from different individuals. First, I will not quit my gambling career because this has nothing to do with campaign. I think we don't have to listen to them because they don't know us closely. But for people who know who we are, they will not give judge us with a bad reputation because they know that we are playing gambling for searching the fun thing, and we don't try to make money from gambling. Many people still judge someone from the outside and don't try to know that person closer.

When we don't give something bad to them, and we don't ask them to join with us, we can let them say anything about us, sooner or later, they will realize that what they say is not right. The important thing is we can take care of ourselves from something bad, and we can know that gambling is part of enjoying life.

Reputation might be important but I think it would not stop me. I might stop for a while but after some time it will go back. It is not something you could just stop, it is something that became part of you for a long time. I can control those gambling urges but I can't stop gambling, there is a difference in those two.

This depends on the person. This is the reason I am reducing the time I am gambling since as a teacher, you need to build up your reputation. In our country, reputation will be hitting the ground once someone found a bad side of you. I do gamble a lot, as do my close circle of friends, and we are not crazy gamblers to bet fortunes we all do it for a bit of fun. I don't think it will be hard for you to stop gambling if you only and "truly" do it for fun. I've know gamblers that always say they are doing it for fun, but I assure you it will always show if you are out of control. A gambling addict can never stops gambling whatever the consequences he made to his/her family, friends and other people. It will always show.

If you really want to run for the campaign and the gambling side affect your reputation, you can always stop it and prove you are not an addict. Its a proof of your commitment to be a public servant. If they still continue to accuse you, provide great platforms, great service. Think of the brighter side that you stop gambling for fun, always remember that a pathological gambler usually progresses from occasional gambling to habitual gambling.

Rather, the whole society will really condemn you for your addiction to gambling, but if your environment is smart enough it will look at your actions, first of all.
If your environment is stupid enough, it doesn’t matter what you do, gambling or something else, your environment will all be right for you, depending on their own beliefs and prejudices.

True that they will not stop campaigning. But you can always play at your own private place and not let anybody know. Thats why cryptocurrency is there and there are online casinos to cater to the type of games that players wish to gamble on. It is indeed going to make your skin crawl if they shame you in public and believe me it is not something that anybody wants. So in that case you should just stop playing for some time and keep in mind that smear campaigns will run out with time because carry no proof and are just fake accusations.

If they do have a proof of your gambling habits then you are in trouble. But such extortionists are rare.

   It all comes down to your country laws, is it legal or illegal to gamble in your country? If it's illegal I wouldn't do it in the first place,
but if it's legal and I do gamble with my own money why would I stop it? Second question is are you responsible gambler, you know
how much you can spend, you never borrow money for gambling or neglecting all other life aspects because of the gambling.
   In my country I wouldn't stop gambling, I would continue to be myself and to do what I like to do and how I like to do.
