The only think I don't like about that idea is the fact that it's a phone only app.  I didn't mind it for the pool, but I can see it being a pain in the ass for researching players, performance trends, injuries...  I guess all that can be done on the 'puter and then enter your lineup on the phone, but still seems like a pain.  Maybe less of a pain than using Yahoo, but as lame as it is, it feels like an old sweatshirt at this point, ugly but comfortable.

Regardless of what app we use, I hope you (and bbc.reporter and seek3r) join us again.  It's time to consider if we're going to have a 10 or 12 player league and start recruiting if anyone wants to drop out.

This has to happen. Fuck a vote. Sleeper is unquestionably by far the best FF platform. Miles ahead of shit yahoo and espn. It’s currently owned by a couple guys w backing by big private equity dollars. This means that it will be ruined eventually just like all great small companies are when they are inevitably sold. So let’s enjoy it now while it’s great.  Let’s not be complacent! It’s like when I ask people if they have Signal for calls/texts and it’s most often “nah I use WhatsApp, so do all my friends”. Always respond well it’s inferior to Signal, as is every messaging platform of its ilk. So start pushing your friends to use it catches on!  Or when I ask if people have Cash App “nah I use PP/Venmo”.  🙄

Oh shit he’d be great! This last season of Gemstones may have been the best ever. Sad it’s now over. John killed it in that, per usual (honestly I loved his Babe Ruth movie, despite the largely negative reviews).

Man. Truly sad. I hadn't really read much about the whole federal funds scheming thing he was involved with, but it seems to be the nail in the coffin for his legacy. I remember feeling bad for him after he said all the hits to the head he took during his career was affecting his memory and cognitive functioning. I don’t believe a single x-nfl player brain ever studied (there’s been quite a few now) has ever not shown CTE. They all have it to some level. My buddy in college who had the luxury of going up against Brandon Jacobs as a linebacker in practice every day told me he knows he has it. Same w my buddy who was the center on that team.

Turns out Rodgers is more likely to sign with the Steelers than any other team, and a deal could take place any time between now the start of Week 1. I don't know why he would prolong making the decision all the way until week 1 as training camps start in early July. Apparently he missed a mandatory pre-season training camp with the Jets last year. I guess he's kind of a primadonna, but the thing is he doesn't have much to back it up as of his last couple seasons.

Its official: Aaron Rodgers has signed with the Steelers. He will be their starting QB -- their fifth in five years after the retirement of Roethlisberger. I would not at all be surprised if this is his final year in the NFL. What does he really have to offer, outside of entertainment & drama value? If he couldn't help the Jets, what chance does he have of actually having a meaningful impact for the Steelers? My guess is slim to none.

AB seriously needs some mental help at this point. I think the guy was a great football player, especially in Pittsburgh, but ever since he left the game in Tampa Bay he has just had multiple instances of negative impact on society.

I'm thinking about how easy it would be to make a blockchain-based Fantasy Football game... I tried to do a Super Bowl betting game in 2014 but it had zero interest. This would be different because each player is its own 1-of-1 token. There would be a draft where everyone is issued who you draft. You can have 10 players in your starter's wallet, and 6 players in your bench wallet. Undrafted players sit on a DEX and you can use draft tokens to buy them. When you release a player as a free agent, you get 1 draft token.

Then people can perform trades on a DEX as well. Scores are tallied based on the points players in your starter's wallet earn in ESPN FF, or whatever. The only real advantage to doing this over a regular FF platform is you can sell your players for crypto.   Put them up on the market, so to speak. But then you'd have to buy replacements if you did that.

Anyway, aside from the fear of being sued, kinda surprised nobody ever did this. You don't have to use their likeness either, I could make each one as a Rare Pepe version of themselves.



Anyway, I know the whole thing is probably legally too hazardous. But I could register tokens for 200 players for like $40... it would just be time consuming & I don't think I could get enough people to play it.

I don't know how easy (or hard) it would be.  I started to teach myself how to create solana smart contracts last winter, but I didn't get very far and had some other projects take the bulk of my attention.  I'm sure there are members here on the forum that are capable of creating a smart contract and DEX on the solana chain that would do what you are suggesting.

But yeah, the legal issues...  You may be able to fly under the NFL's radar for some time before their lawyers find out about it, but maybe not.  What if there's only a DEX that's open source, that anyone can run as a node that communicates with other nodes, and no one entity is making a profit off of it?  Then maybe there's no one to sue?  I don't know.

I don't know how to do it on Solana, but I agree it could probably be done through smart contracts, up to a point. Ideally they would pull player score data from an API and then points could be tallied based on the contents (roster) of a participant's wallet. Some of it would probably have to be done off chain, like deciding weekly matchups, as well as things like team name changes. But who knows, maybe this can all be accomplished on chain.

I could do it in my clunky way but the more I think about it, nah. Most likely nobody would play it and it would be a massive waste of time.
