I did significantly more prep in terms of mock drafts this year. It was kind of addictive. I've been doing 2 a day for the last 3 days. My strategy is gonna be completely different this year. I have no idea if its gonna pay off or not so no point in sharing yet. Its probably more in line with what a lot of people have been doing this whole time, lol.

Anyway, good luck to all, and I'll see you in about 40-50 minutes.

Hueristic's Barbarians's Draft Report Card
Hueristic | Drafted 5th
D Grade
Draft Grade
Summary 
Hueristic's Barbarians Drafts Like They Were Trying to Lose a Game

    Recap
    Draft Results

Well, well, well, if it isn’t Hueristic's Barbarians, who managed to snag a draft grade of D! With a projected record of 4-11-0, it looks like they might be auditioning for a role in the next fantasy football tragedy. Drafting 5th overall, they had the chance to make a splash but instead chose to wade in the shallow end of the talent pool. With the 2nd toughest schedule looming, it seems like they might be in for a long season of fantasy heartbreak.

Despite their best efforts to make a splash, Hueristic's Barbarians ended up with one player on bye week 14, which is just the cherry on top of this draft sundae. Their best pick, T.J. Hockenson, was a nice find at 65, but let’s be honest, it’s all downhill from there with their worst pick at 85. With a projected finish of 7th, it’s safe to say that Hueristic's Barbarians might be better off investing in a crystal ball than a fantasy roster this year!

I have a C grade. I am quite surprised on this outcome because all of the players in my queue list was taken already by everyone except Josh Allen and George Kittle. I was forced to take a quarterback and a tightend earlier than my original strategy. I reckon if I did not have them on 3rd and 4th round I would never pick any top player in this draft. I am not satisfied for this, however, I should be happy.

Posting for posterity, so we can all reflect and laugh, as is tradition:

Just for fun, I had Grok generate a second opinion by feeding it the full draft results and asking it to come up with grades for each team. Its weird that some of the grades deviate from Yahoo because it is not using any external sources to come up player rankings for its grades. Just thought some of y'all might find it interesting.

Burrowhead

Strengths: Elite RB1 in Barkley with solid complementary backs like Cook and Harvey for a reliable ground game. Strong WR core led by Brown, with Pickens adding upside. Dual viable QBs provide flexibility and injury protection. Andrews offers a high-floor TE option.

Weaknesses: Later-round picks like Skattebo and Downs carry risk due to unproven roles or lower rankings. WR depth thins out quickly after the top two. Two defenses dilute bench spots that could have been used for more offensive depth. Overall value is middling, with several reaches in mid-rounds.

Overall Grade: D

Eli-2 Brady-0

Strengths: Exceptional WR group headlined by Chase and Hill, with depth from emerging talents like Smith-Njigba and Flowers for consistent high-scoring potential. Strong RB tandem in Achane and Taylor provides boom upside. Serviceable TEs and a mobile QB backup in Fields add versatility.

Weaknesses: RB depth drops off after the starters, with Tuten as a speculative pick. QBs are solid but lack elite ceiling compared to top-tier options. Late defense and kicker picks are unremarkable, potentially requiring waivers.

Overall Grade: A

Bit Bowlers

Strengths: Deep RB stable led by Robinson and Hall, with veterans like Jones and Etienne for reliable production. WR corps is balanced and high-upside with Nacua and Harrison as anchors. Hurts brings dual-threat QB value, and Kelce remains a top TE despite age.

Weaknesses: Single QB leaves no backup, risking issues during bye or injury. Later WR picks like Jennings and Pittman add depth but lack star power. Kicker and defense are average, not standout.Overall

Grade: A

Moon Coiners

Strengths: Stacked WR room with elite talent like London, Thomas, and Waddle for massive weekly potential and trade leverage. Gibbs leads a capable RB group with Hampton as a strong RB2. Daniels offers high-upside QB play, backed by Purdy's efficiency. LaPorta is a premium TE.

Weaknesses: RB depth is thin beyond the top two, with Bigsby and Croskey-Merritt as boom-or-bust options. Secondary TE and late-round specialists are serviceable but not elite.

Overall Grade: A+

Hueristic's Barbarians

Strengths: Dominant RB depth with McCaffrey, Williams, and Kamara as a powerhouse trio, offering matchup-proof options. Solid WR starters in Higgins, Adams, and Olave for consistent scoring.

Weaknesses: QB is a major liability with Nix's unproven status and lower ranking. Late WR picks like Thielen and Godwin lack upside. Kicker is a low-ranked rookie, and overall bench lacks high-ceiling flyers.

Overall Grade: D

Howdy Nabers

Strengths: Premier WR corps led by Lamb and St. Brown, with high-upside rookies like Egbuka and Hunter for depth. Jackson provides elite QB rushing floor, and Bowers is a top-tier TE prospect. Solid RB volume eaters like Conner and Pollard.

Weaknesses: No kicker drafted, forcing a waiver claim and potential early-season disadvantage. RB group is middling with injury risks (Dobbins, Harris) and lower rankings overall. Backup QB Maye is developmental.

Overall Grade: B

ChiBitCTy

Strengths: Deep RB rotation with Jacobs and Walker as anchors, plus volume shares from Montgomery and Warren. Jefferson headlines a promising WR group with young talents like McConkey and McMillan.

Weaknesses: WR depth is limited to four players, risking exposure to injuries. QBs are mid-tier without elite upside. TE Njoku is inconsistent, and specialists are average.

Overall Grade: C

Ayahuasca Brewers

Strengths: Robust RB core with Henry's power and Pacheco's explosiveness, plus depth options. Top-end WRs like Collins, Evans, and Smith offer reliable production. Mahomes provides QB stability.

Weaknesses: TE Warren is a low-ranked rookie with uncertainty. Later WR picks like Shakir and Coleman are speculative. No major steals in value, leading to a balanced but unexciting roster.

Overall Grade: B

Psilons

Strengths: McBride anchors TE with high potential. RB starters Irving and Brown offer youth and upside, while WR depth is plentiful with veterans like Diggs and Kupp.

Weaknesses: QBs are lower-ranked and lack dynamism. WR group is crowded but mid-tier overall, with injury risks (Kupp, Rice). Limited RB depth beyond the top three.

Overall Grade: C

Vitalik Strong Body

Strengths: Loaded WR stable with Nabers, Wilson, and Metcalf as a dynamic trio, plus depth for flex plays. Allen is an elite QB, and Kittle provides premium TE production. Jeanty leads RBs with breakout potential.

Weaknesses: RB depth relies on recovering or unproven players like Williams and Sampson. No QB backup increases risk. Specialists are middling.

Overall Grade: A

Of course, quite honestly, its really all about how teams handle injuries that make or break a season. I'd put this skill as equally important as the draft, TBH.

Despite the challenges, Ayahuasca Brewers did snag a best pick with DeVonta Smith, who was drafted at 73, well below their ADP of 54. However, they also found themselves in a pickle with the worst pick at 68, where Jordan Mason was selected despite a less-than-stellar ADP of 89. And let's not forget the trio of players from the same team—clearly, Ayahuasca Brewers is betting big on one franchise! As they gear up for the season, let’s hope they can turn that D into a solid draft day story. But for now, it looks like Ayahuasca Brewers might be taking a long, hard look at their fantasy life choices!

It sure felt like that! But no, only the last person I would have guessed went WR/WR and that was Mo!

Should be interesting to see how he does as he did get 2 nice RB's in 3 and 4.

I think it was just the lack of elite WR's available and a ton of Mids after that but I got Higgins for what the 4th time in 4 years as my WR1 LOL, cant pass up on him and I'm pretty happy getting him and Adams in 3/4 rnds.

You took Burrows way too early and that hurt you IMO, you could have got him 2 rounds later, you literally took him before all the targeted QB's.

Even so A.J. Brown/Pickens is a decent WR1/2 combo but you lack of wr depth will certainly hurt you if you don't remidy that.

MERGED:

  • Add 0.2 points per sack yard: Yes

Hey guys just doing last minute checks on everything and apparently none of us noticed I'm a dumb ass again and forgot to do this.

We already have 1 point per sack and there is no setting for "sack yards" but that is basically TFL so I added the .2 there.

GOOD LUCK THIS WEEK GUYS !!!!!

The top ranked player was a WR, but yeah, RBs typically fetch more points per season. I did want Puka so I went with him in Round 2 indeed. What I did differently this year compared to most years prior was waiting until Round 4 to draft a QB, and then concentrating on high-performing RBs & WRs as opposed to picking up multiple TEs or QBs. I would have liked to have waited until Round 5 to pick up a QB but I don't think Hurts would have been available then.

In any case, I'm decently excited about my prospects this year. My first opponent just happens to be the toughest - the damn Moon Coiners. We're about neck-and-neck projected score-wise.

Go Eagles!

This years draft was a bit crazy. People were taking WR in rd 1 which I don't think I have ever seen and the trend continued into rd 2. It kind of threw me for a loop and put me in a panic as quite alot of good WR were gone by rd 3 when I went looking for 1.

Agreed. It also surprising that the familiar rumningback names have changed. On 2022 or 2023 draft we would see Chubb, Ekeler and Mixon on round or round 2. However, this year you can draft them on near the final rounds heheheeh.

Tyreek Hill and Steffon Diggs are also very much lower. Cooper Kupp is the lowest hehehehe! Did anyone draft him?

In any case, has everyone paid the entry fee already? Am I the only participant that has not paid? No one gave me the address.

What a great first game. For me. Well for my team... gaining a bit more confidence now. It could have gone either way and that was probably due to the fact that one of the Eagles' best defensive players was ejected after the kickoff for spitting in the face of Dak Prescott. How stupid.

Other than that, well I was pretty stoked when Hurts got not just 1 but 2 rushing TDs. Dallas wasn't as terrible as expected, and their kicker got some good action, which also added to my score. I'm feeling pretty positive about the season so far... just let me enjoy it while it lasts.

Well FUCK!

Quote
Christian McCaffrey has finally got past last season's injury woes.

Well, just in time to have something new pop up for the San Francisco 49ers' superstar running back.

On Thursday, CMC's name showed up on the 49ers' injury report. He was listed as limited with a calf injury.

Well FUCK!

Turns out McCaffrey wasn't limited at all. They used him so much that I just don't see him going the whole season w/o some kinda injury, which isn't the craziest thing to say.

Every player in my starting lineup did better than expected, so far... just have 2 to go, but its over already, because suchmoon had the opposite happen: every starter did worse than projected except for the kicker and tight end.

A decent number of upsets today, don't think it bode well for the pickem pool.

I am presently shaking my head on why I drafted this weakening version of Josh Allen instead of Lamar. I should not have listened to the expert rankings on social media.

Pretty funny that I could not decide between Evans and Adams and have always grabbed evans but this year decided on adams (2 teams) and they got the exact same points.  lol

Wow, just checked your team out an no duds this week, Nice draft!

Seasons young but it is weird considering in years past you were all Lamar.

Well that didnt take long to turn around! Congrats. Wink

But hell just be glad you didn't do like me and have faith in Bo nix! Cheesy

What a game we had last night! Holy shit I figured that the Ravens had this locked up no problem but WHAT A COMEBACK by the Bills.  That was a massive break down by the Ravens to be up the high and let the Bills come back like that.

In a away I'm thrilled that it ended up the way it did being that both teams are so talented and seeing what I thought was going to be a beat-down by the Ravens ends up becoming a loss.. Love seeing it.

ALLLL that being said, I can't believe I pulled off a W in a FF league.  I HATE my teams in all 3 of my leagues this year and of course in every single draft I had pick 7 lol.  That said, long ways to go boys and gals!

@Hueristic. This type of performance cannot be repeated weekly hehehehe. I consider myself still the loser of week 1. My team is weak and I cannot depend on Josh Allen to have another miraculous comeback every week.

Also, George Kittle is on IR. I will be lucky to win 2 games on weeks 2-5 without him. In any case, I need advice. Should I get Dallas Geodert or Kyle Pitts from the waiver wire?

@ChiBitCTy. Are there other fantasy leagues in the forum? It might be good to have for other cryptocoin communities where they accept payment in their own coins heheh.

I never thought I'd ever recommend Pitts but here we are. Wink

Also its pretty fucked up that the entire SF team is injured except for CMC.
