Will CPU coins like Particle (what i mine on my laptop), Quark, FairQuark get a price rise because of this?

Those coins can also be mined with a GPU but not with an ASIC, so probably yes.

These will make most coins values plummet

Guys, prices of coins are not related to whether the network has ASICs or not. Please stop reiterating bullshit you heard from someone. Period.
I'm not reiterating, I'm using common sense. Unlike you.

I hate to disagree, but the supply of coins per day is limited and does not depend on mining power. All asic will do is concentrate the coins in the hand of a few rich guys.

I imagine a lot of asics will be pointed at Middlecoin and Wafflepool. Please explain how the current hashrate of these pools doubling will not result in lower values of coins?

look I am not sure, but did the introduction of asic in bitcoin result in lower price?

All I know is the difficulty will skyrocket but more coins WILL be mined with the new asics. The only way these additional coins being dumped on the exchanges won't cause decreasing values is if people buy more of them with btc. Barring that the values for most will decrease and many coins will be killed off (a good thing).
Btw, btc asics replaced, not added to scrypt miners. After that happened, a shitload of fiat came into the picture which raised the price. Do you see a shitload of fiat coming in to altcoins?

More hashpower doesn't mean more coins if the coin has a proper difficulty retarget mechanism.

The higher difficulties alone will make gpu mining unprofitable and asics scrypt miners very unlikely to ever make a profit. We can agree to disagree about what will happen to the values, but it doesn't really matter - see point one.

Brace yourself and prepare for plan B. KnCMiner Scrypt ASIC‎ will soon be here.

how soon?  Q3 2014?

KnC scrypt miner may soon be here, but Christmas will soon be here too.

as long as small miners didn't pay insane amounts of money for their hardware there's ample time to break even.

This wont just affect scrypt coins. GPU miners will leave the scrypt coins alone and start mining scrypt-n, X11, and keccak instead. That means higher hashrates all round. Darkcoin (X11) is already pretty unprofitable even with lower power costs. This is going to make things worse for everyone.

Altcoin winter is coming.

(bring it on - the weak must perish)

i'm brand new to the mining but i've been inundating myself with cryptos for a bit now. since this new knc will yet again smash the little people.
what do you think are best anti asic cryptos to mine and why?

blah blah, GPUs aka everyone will dump scrypt and move to another algorithm.

How about "Phasecoin", the rotating algorithm coin that will cripple the ASIC movement?  (this has probably already been done, I don't research too many coins)

History shows what will happen. As asic miners come on line, difficulty will increase and so will the coin price. It will be a repeat of what has happened to bitcoin over the last few years.

I'm going all in on CGA. Asics won't be able to exploit it since a rising hashrate could seriously diminish and stop all returns. That's my theory at least. It already goes to almost all zero rewards whenever the nethash goes above a few hundred MH.

Quark and it's clones do this, 6 different algos, 9 hashing rounds, the last 3 rounds are random.

it will probably turn out like the asics for btc, most people won't see a return for what they spent... Kind of like buying a new car off the lot then loosing $5k as soon as you leave the lot..

Exactly, you can't mine more than coin's daily limit is, with or without ASICs.

Ok so we switch to another algo. Its still not LTC. LTC will be the one going up in price because it will have big money flowing in. Any alternative to asic scrypt coins will have to compete with LTC for big money traders. And guess what those traders do'nt give a crayp about decentralized coins, only profits. LTC was unique because it had traders and miners all in one, now anti asic coins will be filled with mostly miners only.

I think this can potentially spell the death for many of the Scrypt alts. Not that that's a bad thing Smiley
