Not so really …:

- You can get negative trust for not doing anything wrong. Some accounts have walls of negative trust as a means of retaliation for being scam busters, and others based on their opinions, or derived from personal vendettas. This should not happen, but it does, and it is not infrequent. The flags though are more accurate, as they have not fallen into a misuse culture (but for on exceptions).

- Breaking rules does not warrant negative trust at all. That’s what the report to moderator button is for. Trust should be commerce related in spirit, and the forum does not moderate commerce dealings (thus the Trust System, for a community based moderation through scores, feedback and flags).

What I learnt so far is that there are few chosen high profile accounts that can give you negative or positive trust. I am sure there high profile members wont do any injustice as there own reputation will be at stake.

If you received red trust from others, you may fight with it, if you know that there is no mistake you have done then do not let this happen, you should make something to prove that you are not doing some mistakes because if you get red trust, your reputation in this forum will not be good, if you are going to make some transactions in this forum they will give you trust issues.

The benefits of giving red trust for others are only you make that person visible of being not trustworthy and it will let others know whether to give trust on the person when having a transaction.

Your question is a smart question, and despite that this thread an is old thread that just resurrected few hours ago and which I don't know if you are still functionable to the community any longer. So over to the question, this community is like institution, organization. And each institution or organization has it own rules and regulations of the platform, from the rules they are some of the condition that is meant for correction and mercy, so relating it to bitcointalk community, if you violates the protocols of the community you have penalty to face according the evidence of your commitment.

Nevertheless:
-   The trust points to something related to plagiarism. That’s not what Trust is for. If he believes you committed plagiarism, he should report it to the mods, and the mods will decide on that.

-   The reference points to an Airdrop spreadsheet. That proves nothing specific. The point of providing references is to make them meaningful for others to understand.

No one on this forum can help you with that.
Negative trust can't be edited or changed even by the admins on the forum, only the person who gave you the negative trust can remove it.
Try to contact the person who gave you the negative trust directly, explain your reasons and ask him to remove the negative trust.
There is no other way to solve it.
Negative trust is not an absolute category and can change over time.

Yes, you are right. This is clearly a violation of forum rules by evading a ban. He has been doing this for years and I doubt he will stop anytime soon. All we can do is continue exposing and reporting his alt accounts until a forum moderator steps in and bans them again.

There's no merit of giving you any redtrust. It's a system to stop member who's violating forums rule.

yep, that's been the case for at least a long time and it's really hard to change this kind of cheating habit. How many accounts does he have and that's quite a lot in my opinion.

Bitcointalkforum is not some savagery platform. When it got to do with things of trust ratings and even at times, other accusations that needs to be proven, it gives you that chance of defense to clear your user to be of reputable character.  When you are tagged out of suspicion, you can either create an appeal thread, appeal to the DT who might have tagged you or possibly right your wrongs and the DT whom might have tagged you might consider withdrawing his or her tagging of your account.

Talking about advantage, it doesn't have to help him or her in per say but, it in turn helps you and other users of the forum. The DT have found a flaw for which, he or she is not likely to play into but other users might and as such, he or she chooses to caution you on how to act when dealing with such user and as such, preventing the inevitable should it be true.

The only thing you can do, is to convince the two people that gave you those negative ratings that they are wrong, despite the evidence provided in the reference link on the Trust ratings on your profile.

In order to do that, you can resort to one or both of the following:

-   PM them, and give a well-argued explanation why you consider them wrong.

-   Open a thread on Reputation, and likewise, explain to the general reader why you consider they are wrong. This is to draw attention for others to give their opinion (mind you, things can go further south by drawing attention to the case).

You're going to have to make a pretty good case though, in my opinion, to revert the ratings  ...

Before you open thread in reputation section, you should reply to those accusations in Known Alts of any-one - A User Generated List Mk IV (2022 Q2 but considering the provided evidence (shared address with few other accounts that joined the same bounty) chances of removing both of those negative feedbacks are slim to none.

I will say first that believe me it is a retaliatory and negative process that you will also get. And it will double the impact you give. Think carefully before you do it in a very active way. Do what you are told. Get in touch with those who are involved in this and get advice on what is best to do and what is best to do.
