I want to say that any research on altcoin whatsoever is pure waste of time & energy. it's only the coin devs/team and that can guarantee someone the exact time to invest & exit, it is better to invest and hodl altcoins on the short notice and take profits.

Wrong especially when the altcoin can't be easily manipulate by the developers as a result of it been listed on repute exchanges, high trading volume and have a strong community. The only way they can have influence on the price of the coin is by making public announcement that'll either trigger fear or greed in the community like either announcing a bad new or good news in regards to new exchange listing or project development.

Don't discourage research to be done as that's the only way you can assured yourself of the quality of the project you invested in when that project is experiencing hard time (like price decline). If you just invested in any random project out there, you could easily fud when the conditions aren't favourable to the price of that project.

I was once a long term holder but now I have a different mindset, please learn to take profits when they are available, that's the best way to earn and increase the quantities of your coins
Same for me. I am regretting holding these shitty bounty tokens for long time. This time I will dump any tokens that will arrived on my wallet that have value. IEO tokens have the advantages and they can easily have a good return of investment. However as time goes on, these tokens eventually dump on the market anf thats a fact that the community should remember. Not all altcoins can retain their price for a long time except those proven their worth such as ethereum and any big coins out there.

Putting some time to research on altcoins in general is worth doing but if we're talking specifically about the ICOs and other similar projects it's probably like a hit or miss since i've seen a project with good reputation that gained a lot of support then their quality started to regress until it fail.

There are tons of good projects out there that lacked support because most investors skip the part of doing their research when choosing a project. It will help you in choosing good projects with long-term potential.
Most investors avoid projects because even if they are good projects there's no way to tell if it'll pay off for them in the end so they stick with the most popular ones just to be safe.

You dumped all those tokens that will have value and invest the money to another valuable coins, you can simply keeps repeating that and enjoy your benefits, instead of hoping and waiting for the time where mostly not happened to bounty token rewards, you just need to keep planning for a better strategy and make things possible to you and to the success of your journey from this investment.

I do not think altcoins are good for a long term investment (1+ year). The main thing the projects need to have in order to exist in the future is adoption, I think only Ethereum has it at the moment.

1-2 years is not a short time to hodl one altcoin.
That is when they will finish and be listed. The listing is actually the problem. That is when the fall will come for the price of an alt.
Based on my own experience.

Take advantage of the bonuses from the IEO or ICO. That way you could still make profits once it was listed.
My suggestion, never regret about selling even if you will have just a little profit from it.
Forget the coin you sold then move on to another one.

agree, it is not total waste of time and energy, but analysis should be done deep enough, and any flow that you see in the development or management shall be warning to skip investment in that coin/token/project
it is a tough job for sure, and requires a lot of skills, time and money to be done, but could offer great reward if you find the jam that you are looking for

if you don't make use of the product they made, and that is included in the new project, I also prefer to get short-term benefits. however, I only hold back in the long run when I like their products, or when altcoin is included in the top altcoin. but, I think, it's natural to do research before you make a long-term investment. it applies to all altcoins.

I think at least that is a more appropriate step in avoiding fraudulent projects. Because by searching we can be more mature in concluding or getting more accurate data, although sometimes it is not as desired. indeed, for the time being, most new projects tend not to last long for a variety of reasons, one example is the decrease in interest / investors in participating in ICO / IEO.

It is true, research is just an initial step for you to gauge if a project has a potential or not. Once the project gathered enough funds for project developent, it all depends on the whole team how will they maximize the fund and how will develop the platform/product as well as marketing which will determine the growth in the long-run.
Doing a research is a good thing. Long term investments must be done especially for altcoins I agree with that, it does not only last for 5 years, but for almost about every 5 years recorded in the history of the new economy. A long-term investor does not worry about tradings fees because they do not trade every day. Here are some altcoins in which you may invest for long term investment.
Ethereum (ETH)
Binance Coin (BNB)

After checking through through altcoins,
their ieos,
the immediate pump after ieo,
The stable price and volume for few weeks, months,
And the sudden crash in price,

I want to say that any research on altcoin whatsoever is pure waste of time & energy. it's only the coin devs/team and that can guarantee someone the exact time to invest & exit, it is better to invest and hodl altcoins on the short notice and take profits.

when you're ready to hodl for a long time. It is better you do all that research on trading TA wise for btc & eth than any other altcoin whatsoever.

This is my ample opinion, i will like to further learn from suggestions
actually the analysis is absolutely right and it always works for those who believe in it. such as BAND, a recent emerging alts and it is constantly growing very strong due to its excellent technology and services. Matic was also a popular alts because of the technology and vision of the team about Defi, it has also grown very strongly.
All analysis is worth the investment but it must be at the right time to make it work. This is the key point of whether you have successfully invested or not.

Such a long search and to find a long-term investment will lead to nothing. You can't rely on new projects that are existed today, most of them are just a scam and they'll soon out from the market once their intention are done. If we think about long-term investment, we will never go to that thorough research better to acquire the existing one which been in the market for many years.

Yes, they are worth it, but the risk will still be high. Many of the projects that I have researched for a long time have brought me profit after entering the market. However, there are many other factors that cannot be predicted, so research does not provide a 100% guarantee.

The first basis in crypto currency is doing your own research, hence researchs are worth it.

Either you are buying as a trader, or stocking up as an investor or basically joining Bounty programs, doing your research, getting information and guidelines ahead will keep you abreast of what to expect

Now the situation is not predictable at all. Research gives only 50 percent on the success of the project, because even those projects that I have been analyzing for a long time, then they turned out to be a scam. The market of new projects is now terrible.

Research is not enough to guarantee longevity of any alt project especially new project in the market,  already existing project that have been around for some years is more advisable, newly introduced project are more likely for very short term because they can surprise you at any time, better to choose existing project with some years of being around than a new project, they a lot less riskier.

research should always be carried out, but not only with a long-term investment. in the short term, it is even more dangerous to invest than in the long term. be careful because the market is too fast

From my perspective rely on new project is not worth at all. Even you had long research no one can guarantee that project is legit. Most of new project turns into a scam or cant survive in long time. So, i suggest to invest on ethereum best altcoin so far.

Yes it's worth it. Despite the fact that the market situation few years from now isn't known  but yet a research could save one from investing in scam projects. Holding an altcoin for long is not a good investment advice. Altcoins should be traded within a short time frame not long investment option.
