Not just newbie but every investor top altcoins are the best to invest if you want to have a secure investment.
Most new crypto are just scam so we should really avoid it or try to dig a little deeper to find out if they are worthy to invest in.
But if you couldn't do it or decide then just stick to the top altcoins.

I do not agree with that. I believe that most of the old altcoins are scammers, and new projects are really smart teams who want to bring something new to the world of cryptocurrencies. I especially  DEFI projects that appeared recently

Top altcoins aren't 100% safe either since they aren't stable coins and also remember that projects that aren't scam can still fail because of other problems but new projects are 80% famous to be a hit and run projects

Newbies are safer with bitcoin, and avoiding altcoins altogether.

Marketcap is a meaningless statistic. I could create a new token right now, print 1 billion of them, sell a single token to my friend for $10, and now my market cap is $10 billion and I'm the third "top" coin. Just because an altcoin is in the "top 10", means nothing. At least half the coins in the "top 10" are literal scams.

The Coinmarketcap list will be updated by liquidity pool. Volume can be increased by fake or scam exchange help, for this effect any coin will be listed in the top like Tagz exchange. Not only newbies, we should all buy Bitcoin or top coin to protect our money.  I think that's how the market won't be meaningless statistics.

There was an article published in Coindesk a few months back. It dealt with service providers, who would manipulate the trade volumes for less known coins and tokens, for the exchange of a monetary reward. They use bots and fake users to achieve this objective. And in most cases, Coinmarketcap is unable to differentiate between the real and fake volumes for these coins.

 i think the best option for newbie is to focus on top coins and buy when the price drops then sell when it moons . But that does not erase the fact that they have to settle down and study the market before investing.
 i noticed that some of the newbies think crypto is a get rich quick scheme therefore they expect to get 100% profit within 24 hours and when this does not happen they give up .
Do not forget even after buying a top coin like btc you may experience a dump in price and have to wait for weeks or months for it to moon so you can make profits.

The rule "Newbies are safer with top altcoins" not always work. Here is my story:

Once I've bought Waves and hoped they will have a good financial future. I've expected to double my investments, specially when it was announced Waves will be the blockchain project with government support will be using. Waves were top15-20 that they.

Right now they are on 67 place. Half a year ago they were somewhere around top50. For me, the rule "being safe with top alts" doesnt work at all. Person is safe with an alt he made a research on and weighed all the consequences.

Thank you for this amazing advice which is absolutely right. Many newbies have actually been scammed with hypes from projects and paid users do best for any newbie is to rely on old useful coins not new hyped projects as it may ruin Thier lives and finance. Best choice is to pick top coins.

In as much as most newbies might seems naive and gullible when it comes to making investment decision, i think not only the newbies ought to stay clear of most of these new projects emerging everyday unless the particle project shows lot of potentials like reputable team, good products, IEO on top exchanges and big partnerships if not, investing in already developed projects is the surest decision everyone should always take

Old altcoins are scammers! I'm sorry that I can't accept it. Old altcoins can easily track that scam or real but new altcoins are very hard to know in the future. DeFi projects are doing very great work in this pandemic. Even though you can't tell the proper future of new altcoins. As DIA few new altcoins will be doing great. Only depends on DeFi projects, you can confirm the future of new altcoins.

They less volatile compared with the low tier altcoin and the major coins were also having a lot of daily trade volume which bring people more guarantee. At least when they can enter top coin list and they have proven their credibility as it's not all of the coins can enter into the top list coins.

That was always the very first advice given to the new ones whenever they get to enter this industry. Yes, it is indeed safe to get them into the top Altcoins to keep their money safe for investment and to avoid them getting into shit coins that are spread in the market. It is a way of practicality for them to first get familiarize the known Altcoins on the top spot before exploring the vast world of cryptocurrencies. But still, newbies must not be reliant on the top Altcoins. They still do need to know everything they must know before coming up into investing because being knowledgeable will keep you safe from threats of getting scam and whatsoever.

What you are saying doesn't make any sense, top altcoins are top on the list on websites like coinmarketcap or coingecko because they earned it, Bitcoin is the first because it carry the highest marketcap and it's the most popular and most used of all.

If altcoins were stable coins, what would be the point of cryptocurrency at all? Not only cryptocurrencies, but also the us dollar, are 100% insecure. Those who cannot independently evaluate the project, it is better to stay away from all new ICOS and buy altcoins after they are listed on the exchange.

Yes, I agree. This corona related altcoins are just created by scammers to make money. Some project like this want to get money for donation for people who affected a lot by this pandemic. I don’t suggest to just donating to this people, I suggest to donate straight to your government so that it will help your people especially for those people who lose their regular jobs. That's it, point blank, newbies are far better and safer with top coins beginning with Bitcoin because it will make them have a broader mind towards knowing the good coins from the bad. Starting with top coins, they won't fall for scammers, chase hype projects nor invest in pump and dump coins but rather they will be able to build and develop their understanding about different coins.
