Technically, there is no difference. The alt command was created a long time ago for those who wanted to set an alias for their username. For example, LoyceV could add the alias Loyce, which is how people mention it sometimes, to not miss any notification.

I am not sure if anyone else has faced this anomaly before.

The bot seems to be reporting the wrong total number of Merits I have earned so far. Initially the number was off by 1 merit, but now it's off by 2 merits.
My total number of earned merits is 666 but right now it's say 664

Obviously not the most important feature but have you thought about notifying users when they're tagged by "@OP" on their own topics? Would that be difficult to implement?

I would need to know which posts are the OP to do that. I have a few ideas on how to do that, but it's my lack of free time that is preventing me from being able to work on the bot.

I doubt that TryNinja might not add it or not as TryNinja doesn't have much time available as stated in post above so adding the link of your translation of the original thread will/won't be added. Also, there if some prefer English then I have created a thread for it already except the famous hairy hand part.

Unfortunately I didn't really like using Telegram before but it seems like it's become a necessity for me now so I can give this notification bot a try. I just activated the telegram bot where there are two feature available to me at the moment, mentions and new merit. Kinda curious if it works now for me or not but it would be great to give it a try if someone is willing to mention or send me a merit just to clear up these doubts.

By the way, I hope this telegram notification bot can make me more active in the forum just to answer anyone who mention me in a post. Thank you Tryninja for providing this facility.

@TryNinja, I subscribed to your notification bot for a very long time but today I noticed something which I had been missing for very long time. You can see that my current merit count is 282 and the last merits received from @vapourminer which is actually showing but the number shown is 277 instead of 282, I scrolled up and up that 5 merits seems missing for very long time so I don't know how to tally the amount which is actually missing. Is there any solution?

We are the same I encountered this kind of issues way back December 7 2021, I have  166 merits in total then I (Merits:170) you received 5 merits from royse777. The. Another (Merits: 172) you received 2 merits from ThePharmacist
But the bot notify me like this.
Instead of 171 but the bot says 172 but it is okay the problem their is the total of the amount of my merits but the person who gave you and how many merits you've recently received it is okay and accurate.
