That'll be useful. It'll be nice to know if certain user only need to be mentioned on a post or I should send them a PM to let them know about a topic.

An alternative to get this "feature" without breaching privacy is perhaps allowing those who use the bot --and wouldn't mind people know they got notified-- to PM OP or post here and OP compiled a list on the opening post consisting of these usernames.

Good idea, but still needs some thinking.

1. This should be 100% optional. I could send an one-time message to everyone where they can allow/disallow to be included on this list. Then make the same prompt for every new user or require them to DM TryNinjaBOT.

2. Where do I put the list? Make a ninjastic.space page for it? Add a /users command to the bot?

3. Keep in mind that anyone can put the name they want on the bot, so I could create a new telegram and tell the bot I'm @satoshi. Maybe the DM could be useful to filter the impostors out.

All I have is their telegram_id (just a big internal number) and everything else they input (forum username, forum uid, if they want to be notified for merits, etc...).

I could get their telegram public display name, but I don't because I don't need it.
I can NOT get their phone number or any other sensitive or private information.

I also agree that it should be optional and users can decide to be included in the list or not. A prompt or a notification to users if they want to be included in the list or not would be a good idea since some people prefer being anonymous or doesn't want anyone to stalk their activities. For the list, I think having a new page and command on the bot is better but I don't want to recommend adding both as it will take more work but it's up to TN to decide.

Can it be made as one of /menu command so --existing-- users can activate/deactivate this option to ads/remove their name from the list suppose they changed their mind one day?

I think a /user command will probably be quite messy. I imagine the list will be quite big? It'll be a very long chat bubble every time the command being prompted. Do you have a ballpark data of how many user currently use your notifier?

If it can be set to automatically add or remove a username who activate/deactivate the feature, --so it won't bother you too much to manually update the page-- I think a page on ninjastic will suits better. It will also serve to let people know that you have another useful program aside from the ninjastic. I think there are a lot of people knows about and use ninjastic, but not everyone who use ninjastic know that you also have the notifier. Adding a page on ninjastic about TG bot will serve as a PSA.

I was thinking of a post in this topic (with automated updates), so it's also available for users who don't use Telegram. A page on your site works for me too.

I think the best option would be to send a message to everyone saying yes or no to being included on the list. For new registrations, you put this message right at the beginning of the settings. If the person says no right away, if they change their mind and want to join the list, then send a DM to the bot to do this (or a command).

If you only do this via DM, I believe that most people will not do this, because many will not even remember or will not want to take the trouble. So if you go ahead with this, it should be as simple as possible.

It sparks a question in my mind: is it possible with the current system for anyone to carbon-copied someone's notification? Suppose I registered myself on the tg bot, I understand the database collected our tg username and the BTT UID, does the bot allows other tg to register and bind themselves to the same UID or will it automatically reject the impersonator's registration because the BTT UID is already registered to someone's tg username on the database?

If it is possible, how feasible is it to make a restriction where once an UID is bind to a TG username, no other TG username can connect to the same UID anymore? Suppose an impersonator get ahead of the original UID owner and registered the UID to the tg bot, the original owner can just write here to sort it out? If... that's not too troublesome.

If I have to put myself in other perspective and think of the possible detrimental effect of this idea --thus opposing it-- it would be an added possibility of (1) receiving unsolicited DM, be it the scam offers, or someone genuine from the forum trying to reach you personally, and (2) having my TG enrolled to a telegram bounty campaign without my consent by a bounty abuser. Your list will kinda act as an open buffet for those people, giving them list of available telegram contact and the forum username associated to it.

But those risks are already present with or without your list. Anyone can easily scroll past a bounty spreadsheet or type "telegram username:" on the search field on ninjastic with specific forum username on the author field to basically get the same --if not more comprehensive-- result. So I don't think it's much of "an issue" because more likely than not, our username is already exposed "without our consent" by the bounty spreadsheets and telegram group we joined.

Yes. Anyone can use any username/uid, even if it's already in use.

Sounds like a lot of trouble for no added benefit. Anyone can create their own scraper/bot, fork the supernotifier, etc... or even add your username to the "tracked phrases" to get the same (mention) notifications. Probably better to add some kind of additional verification tag if necessary.

That's not how this would work. All I would publish is that joker_josue and LoyceV are users of my bot, and thus they will get a notification if mentioned. I would never publish that their telegram handler is @jokerjosuethebest123 and @loycetotallyhuman.

Obviously not the most important feature but have you thought about notifying users when they're tagged by "@OP" on their own topics? Would that be difficult to implement?

If it's possible, then I was thinking about if you could add mentions whenever a user's topic/post gets mentioned. So if I post this link:

Yesterday I noticed a yellow star in front of the notification about the received merit, but that icon appeared only in one notification, so I assume that it appears once every 24 hours, considering that it is the only notification I have turned on.

I also noticed the new update with the icons, I like them; the are a small detail that enhances the bot.
The only thing I did not like about it is that I had to reset the bot and I am almost certain and I missed out some mentions because of it, but nothing serious.

Every notification should have its own icon (easier to distinguise them in the sea of notifications), but some are being sent without it for some reason... I need to do some debugging.
