The Android phone has notifications working again, but it is diabolical that we are now pushing features that require the latest software to work at all. This is not a website which demands the latest browser version. It's just a notification bot.

@TryNinja - the bot is effectively bricked on my iPhone 6s. I haven't updated the app on the iPhone 13 yet, but it's pretty stock and I don't use it much yet. It will probably work on there though.

Edit: On iMe 12.7 (telegram 12.7) on iPhone 13, the notifications are broken too. Maybe other 3rd party telegram clients are broken also.

I have my telegram account on two different devices and I can receive the notifications without any issues.
I am using the latest version of electrum in both, but devices are old. The android version on one is 12.8.3 and on the other is 12.4.3.

I was surprised when I opened my notifications today and I saw on all of my devices that "this message is not supported on your version of Telegram". Including on Telegram versions that are only a couple weeks old like 12.8.3.

For me, the official telegram client still supporting the message, but if you using some other unofficial clients like TelegramX, Nekogram, Nicegram, there is a high change it will show as unsupported message (even though you are on the latest build).

All of my telegram clients are updated, but I'm unable to see those notification. It only shows on the official client.

But I might add an option to enable the old format, at least for notifications.

Seems to be working from my end. The last notification I got, came from this very thread by TryNinja (at 8.05 PM local time)...not sure whether that was the last one.

Nice update but felt strange at first sight of it, especially how it all changes the blue forum font color we get with the telegram notifier bot font also being blue to now in the new update all black fonts color. Didn't anyone notice that

Still trying to get used to the colour changes but am impressed with the update, new added feature for users - I mean the nested quotes solution.

Cool! Scrolling down to the last few mentions and I just noticed it's with the usual font colours now on my side. Was it that it wasn't rightly fixed in the first instance?

The new telegram rich html gives me more freedom to develop new features, so that's why I started using it.

But I might add an option to enable the old format, at least for notifications.

It could be a good idea to support legacy phones with the old design.
I had the same experience with my userscript: I liked all my bells and whistles, but some users don’t want to, or actually cannot, access the latest versions. So you need to consider them as well.

Classic Safari issue. You can't do anything new because 5% use Safari and it breaks something.

Legacy support can be added, but it's a bummer because then you need hundreds of lines of code just to support it. But I guess it must be done.

Also, on simpleX version, do we need to click the ⚡ (live) button every time? Or will the notifications come automatically? I noticed after clicking that, a bunch of messages started coming all at once.

The problem is telegramx slight lags behind Telegram when it comes to updates so you might want to wait for sometime until they also make an update or get forced to use the telegram official app in the meantime.

I just installed the latest version of Telegram X to see how it works. All messages I have received from TryNinja's bot after its update are shown as "Unspported message" in Telegram X.

I think you are right. It won't work since the last update of Telegram X on Playstore is Jan 6, 2026 and that of the official telegram app is Jun 18, 2026 so they have a lot of catching up to do.

The new discovery is that even my Telegram for desktop has been showing those unsupported message errors since TryNinja announced the bot update. I had to update the app, which is the official one for everything to go back to normal

This suggests that there is a new telegram feature in the text that the bot pushes that is not supported by the old versions.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Since the new telegram rich format is fairly new and some clients do not support it yet, I made the choice to revert the notifications back to the old html API, but with a similar cleaner format. This will be the default for every user.

You can enable the new format, if your client supports it, through the menu -> Notification settings -> Notification style -> New notifications (toggle).

NOTE: The "advanced regex matches" menu still uses the new API, so it won't work on unsupported clients.

The new format isn't supported on Telegram Web either. It's inconvenient to have to reach for my phone now and then when I'm comfortably at my PC. Anyway, I avoid installing too many apps on my PC for performance reasons, especially since it has storage-saving alternatives.

I haven't had any new notifications this morning to confirm if it's working properly again on my end after the version reverted.

Thanks for the update. Honestly, I was surprised when I received message in a new format but honestly, the previous design felt intuitive for me too. What I would change in this new design is that I would separate "user who mentioned me and the title of the thread" and the "replied comment", like it was separated in previous design (reply was separated in a light blue color. I think that if you make these changes that I mentioned above, your updated design will be more user friendly. What do others think about this?

Thanks for this update, now I'm at least sure that maybe it wasn't all on my end. For example, only on the iOS laptop I didn't have the right click/copy link option. Windows desktop and both mobile works fine.

btw. @TryNinja, is everything ok with bitlist.co website? Cloudflare is reporting a Host Error to me.

The same thing to me. I was thinking it was from my end but it was not and from the creator of the telegram notifier.
And even the spacing pattern too is different. I like the old pattern and everything in this new notification is odd to me.

Sorry man, innovation comes with a little imbalance here and there until you get use to it. This is a telegram notifier upgrade so it is expected that you will have to relearn and get use to the new update. So just adjust to the new way of using the telegram app, it is same as if you update an app on your phone, certain features will give way for an upgraded version.

So just update your telegram and play around with it, it is nothing too much buddy.
