An altcoin, or alternative coin, is pretty self-explanatory. An altcoin is every cryptocurrency alternative to Bitcoin – the first one. Altcoins may differ from Bitcoin in every possible way, such as mining mechanisms, coin-distribution methods or the ability to create decentralized applications.
Although Bitcoin is innovative and massively influential, it has some problems that developers are trying to fix with their own products. Altcoin makes faster transactions, there is an altcoin that is less volatile, there is an altcoin that is more private and so on. There are more than one and a half thousand altcoins in the market. Altcoins are playing a very important role by expanding boundaries of blockchain possibilities and the scope of applications.

I don't know what you are talking about. There are a lot of useless altcoins in the market and the team of that project will not be able to say whether they have any real use or not. It would not be right to think about the future with this type of altcoin. There are only a few altcoins that are doing and will do something really good.

Now that people are buying Bitcoin more, altcoin has already destroyed many investors so the demand for altcoin has decreased. This is because of the amount that altcoin has dumped and is doing which has frightened traders and investors. You can combine bitcoin and altcoin charts to see which one is relatively safer. Or the moon! Recovering 10% after 100% dumping is not called moon, it is just preparation for another 100% more dump.

Do you mean to say an altcoin having a flagship on blockchain technology which can make it moon? There are many altcoins today which are just worthless, others are just for pump and dump etc, only a few are good to hold which are also trying their best to retain their values and objectives. Lastly only altcoins with something to offer can moon because when people start seeing their worth and use cases they will be driven to buy thus leading to an increase in price (or moon).

LOL, investors should differentiate between fly to the Moon and fly to the all time highs. We have been in the period that is too rarely to see xtimes of increases in values for altcoins. It is the story in 2017. Now, if I can have a x2 or x3 investments with altcoins, I will feel very satisfied. I also feel happy with about 40% of profits from my altcoin investments.

For investors who bought altcoins at all time highs and still hold their coins, have not yet cut losses, they should change their invest style. Cut losses and take advantages of price recoveries in order to get their capital back, gradually.

Yes it is but it was a random pump that based on the update. I guess a coin that has got a pump will not be pumped again. The whales are randomly choosing the coins to be pumped and then dumped it again to the bottom.

Did altcoin landed on the moon? When? Lol. But kidding aside, let's accept the hard truth. Altcoins, whether new or old, will remain in the shadows of btc. That's a constant thing inside the cryptosphere (at least on our lifetime tho). And that's the main reason why I stopped investing to alt particularly eth. I noticed that they got the same trend so why I settle for less. I'll definitely go with the pioneer.

But don't get me wrong. I love to see it's good to see alts blooming as well, it attracts more investors which makes our market livelier.

If BTC to the MOON, that means altcoins would go also to the MOON. Every altcoin depends on BTC price and for that reason, if BTC rises up, we can realize that altcoins will start to follow this event. But in my mind it is so early to say something about that, that is why BTC can not catch 10k, it is something hard for BTC to achieve this goal. I agree we have seen bitcoin pumped up many times and we have not seen altcoins came along in the top aside from those coins that have been established or major coins, but in the general altcoin market. We might see them grow a little but not for a longer time not like we he have witnessed during their peak times.
