It was very important to join on their channel as a bounty hunter so that you will know the status of the bounty that you join and you didn't miss any update of the project because some bounty was changing the rules like they don't have kyc before then they are going to have a kyc as requested by the team so they know that they don't have multiple entry.

As mentioned by the OP, many projects have announced important information that was announced or shared through social media, in addition to the main website.
