Business is business. He has only profit in mind and nothing more. However, there are reasonable things in this. Imagine if all your country's campaigns close tomorrow and everyone stays at home, how will people live without money? Who will deliver the products and provide basic basic services?
life must Move on now,we have been slowed By this Covid Virus and the world suffers a lot,There are ways how to depend our self from this pandemic so lets do it and go our ways.
The world now starts to open their  roads again, letting people do their business so why not in Gambling that has the highest profit government has.

Of course, a casino is not something that is a basic need of people. However, if there are those who want to play, why not. They will show that they are not sick or carriers of infection and let them play.

Thats why Social distancing is very need now,it doesn't mean that there are infected we need to go away every time, what we need is distance and stay safe.

Quote
I still believe that every healthy person is free to make their own choices. And the sick of course need to stay at home so as not to infect others.

Thats it,let the sick stays at home and the healthy be on business.

There are people that doesnt show off symptoms thats why they cant detect if they are already infected or not and still go to places that they do like to visit on ex. these casinos.

pointing it out would really be hard this is why its still risky to go up to these places because thermal scanners and alcohol wont really be enough to get rid of the virus and once a certain infected person able to go inside then

potentially all of those people will really have the risk on getting infected specially these kind of places are isolated or closed on when no proper ventilation or shall we say its airconditioned.

People would really need to work for them to have some money to spend but majority will surely consider on prioritizing things up like needs for them to survive rather than prioritizing on playing gambling.

Every day, our body is attacked by dozens of different viruses and bacteria. If a person is constantly afraid of this, then he needs to live in isolated rooms from the other world.
We are all different. Someone is very afraid of the danger of infection, someone does not care about it. Everyone has the right to make their own choice. If I'm healthy and want to go to Las Vegas, no one can stop me. It is my right to put myself at risk of infection or not.

Covid-19 is different from other diseases and virus because there is no treatment discovered yet for this virus. That's why people are more cautious about it because if there is no vaccine,  there are more chances of losing life as we are witnessing these days. Even if places like Las Vegas Casinos are opened, people should avoid visiting them at present.

My brother was at the opening day. He said that the halls were crowded, a lot of people came, it was really packed.
<snip>
Then there is a possibility in the spread of corona virus, this  was the reason I said our lives is more precious than the fiat for rewards. Possibly the environment might have gotten or include one or more participant who might be a victim of the virus. Though life is a choice and we all have our individual or collective responsibility to watch our lives. Safety won't work in such a place like casino and we all know this but ignored the advise of the expert. Hope there won't be another wave of this pandemic due to human negligence.

I am sure that in the fall there will be a second wave, since this is the time of the spread of flu and other respiratory diseases and this is inevitable, unfortunately.

All we can do is follow the recommendations and take care of the state of our immune system.

The sad truth is that most such viruses have no vaccines

And probably will never have for the simple reason that they are too mutable, up to a point where creation of a vaccine becomes an exercise in futility. So it all comes down to an organism versus a virus, and developing a lasting immunity after the encounter. However, the good news is that these types usually become less lethal over time as natural selection works against their lethality and deadliness. If a virus is too lethal, it kills its host too fast and itself as a result, thus the evolution pressures for more benign strains

Although there is no vaccine available at the moment for covid-19, this does not mean that there will no vaccine forever. Scientist and medical staffs are constantly working to develop a vaccine for it. I am sure soon someone will be successful and produce a life saving drug.

New flu vaccines are developed every year

But their effectiveness is still a matter of luck to a significant degree. It is just the nature of the virus (actually, a wide variety of viruses) which is extremely mutable. It doesn't mean that there can't or won't be a vaccine for a specific strain of the Covid-19 virus. But when it is created, it could already be too late as the virus would have mutated into a completely different (read, new) strain no longer vulnerable to this vaccine. Covid-19 is only one of the many thousand viruses of the same group that somehow turned much more lethal than the others. Just in case, people don't die from the virus itself. Even in the case of rabies or HIV, the most lethal viruses out there (nearly 100% mortality rate if not diagnosed and treated in time), people don't die from the virus as such

Minor point, but HIV / AIDS really does not kill you it just decimates your immune system to the point that just about anything else kills you.

Back to gambling, most people I know and yes that is a small group have all said the same thing, it's not really not just the casino crowds that are going to keep them away.
It's getting to them. Airport, flight, etc. They are more concerned about that then what happens in Vegas itself. As one friend put it, "I can get up and walk out the door of a casino that I feel is not doing enough to keep me safe. Delta gets really upset if I open the door and walk out. But, no matter what till numbers level off and we have a better handle on it" So 1st we have to figure out how to get there safely in a metal tube and then we have to figure out how to control the spread a bit more.

I am seeing it here with restaurants starting to open. There are some people who don't care and will pack a place because its open, and there are others who will keep going and shop / eat / drink elsewhere.

Dave's totally rude and non politically correct opinion. There are 4 types of people I have seen in casinos so far.

1) Young people just old enough to gamble / get in. They think this will not effect them. This has nothing to do with the virus or anything else. As a rule that group will always act like that in most situations.

2) Compulsive gamblers, sadly it's an addiction / disease with them so they are going. From what I have heard from the people I know who work at casinos they have been removing self excluded / problem gamblers at a much higher rate then normal because they all came flooding back and they can't hide in the crowds of others

3) Really old people. Seems harsh and I was surprised at this group but from what I have seen on TV, they are past the point of caring. It's the "I'm 87 years old, so what if I die" And that was quote on a news clip, a bunch of old people that are rally just 1 step away from giving up.

4) The people who think they are immune / the virus is a hoax / the uneducated. Just people who don't understand how it works. Yeah, there are a lot of them.

But within the small group of people I know and the much larger group of friends of friends who gamble and spend time on gambling discussion boards, for the most part they are all stating away as was said above due to air travel and the lack of controlled spread of the virus.

So no matter what, stay safe out there everyone.

-Dave

There is some truth in what deisik posted. It is not that easy to create vaccines against viruses, because they mutate very often. As a result of this, you may not get a vaccine that is 100% effective. And it needs to be remembered that the COVID 19 virus is having different strains. A particular vaccine, which works against one strain, may not be useful against another virus strain. That means that you need to go for multiple vaccinations if you want protection and even then it may not be 100% effective.

In that case, the Covid19 Crisis will extend up to more than a year until a pharm can create a vaccine that they can sell while the economy is down.

This virus won't be easy to kill because of the mutation they develop to each patient. There was an article I found that the virus will mutate depending on how healthy the person is. If a person has lung problems, the virus will attack the respiratory system. The healthy are the ones who are asymptomatic patients.

Your life was never in any danger. Not in a danger from this pandemic at least.

If you're not over 60 years old you have nothing to fear.......<snip>
I would not suggested this for anyone who is human. This has affected both the young and the old, it doesn't select by age or color but everything that is human with breath. Let assume  it doesn't affect the younger ones, but the younger ones live with their parents who are old, don't you think it's a way of spreading the disease?. Though, opening up the casino will help solve the problem of hunger in the land, but life could be at risk also which is Paramount.

If you're not over 60 years old you have nothing to fear and if you are there's no reason why you should go gamble in a casino. Rent out a boat and go fishing or something and have one less thing to worry about.

It's good they're opening casinos. Every person should measure their own risk and be able to choose. I'm tired of the government choosing for me.

I think you don't realize that an infected person can infect another person just by being in contact or even indirect contact with the infected person. the government doesn't just force young people to stay at their home because they can possibly die of the virus but because you could infect other people and further spread the virus which could reach people isn't healthy enough to fight the virus. the opening of las vegas during this pandemic will just increase the rate of someone getting infected and spreading it.

I'm tired of the government choosing for me.

Exactly, there is no guarantee that we will find vaccine or cure that will be fully effective against the virus. And we can't wait for vaccine to be discoverd so that we continue with our lives. There are hundreds of different illnesses that can affect us and many of then worse than virus, like cancer, but we can't live in constant fear
Life and businesses need to continue and that applies to casinos too.

It is called as "Asymptomatic Condition" wherein there is no signs of COVID-19 to the patient but it he can be a carrier. It can also be detected by swabbing but the person itself does not know he already acquired it.
COVID-19 is a battle of immune system, that is why it is advisable only to stay at home. Do not gamble for two months is better than becoming an ash. Do not risk your own life and family because of greediness to play.

People will not really understand the situation if you haven't there. As much as we don't want them to open, people there need income.

I'm trying to find the video I watched on Facebook during the lockdown in Las Vegas wherein people are desperate to find works or source of income. I feel their struggle. Most of them are employees at hotel-casinos serving as staff, cooks, crew, etc. They claimed the government is doing good providing assistance, so is their employers, but the problem is, it's not enough to cover their daily livings.

That's why I'm just hoping that the re-opening of Las Vegas Casinos will not result into another infection. People need to work. They understand the situation but it leaves them no choice. Before saying they are stupid, be thankful that you are not in their place.
This is why it is so difficult to solve the pandemic, in a perfect world everyone will have a few months worth of savings and even if they are fired this should be no cause of concern as they could keep paying their bills and the pandemic will be over before we know it, but this is not the case obviously, people need to work and many are living day to day so the closure of so many business is affecting them greatly and they need to get back to work, this leaves governments in a difficult position, do they prioritize the health of their citizens regardless of the cost? Or do they open the economy assuming the risks this will bring?

Therefore, you need to drop all fears and start working. It will not be easy to catch up. We must understand that it will be difficult to completely defeat the virus.

It is completely impossible to cure a person of the virus. You can only treat the consequences and complications caused by it. Only the human immune system can fight the virus.
In order for the immune system to be strong against the virus, a person needs to be vaccinated. Now vaccinations are being developed in several countries and I think they will be ready by September.

Surely they would go to the option 2, it might be a hard decision but it really need to because it wont really be that sustaining even for how many months.Lets talk about first world countries

yes, they can provide needs for several months but it wont really be like forever. Therefore, they would need to take up to that kind of decision. Its risking lives but they dont have any other options left.

Vaccine wont be available in short time basis thats why we should really protect ourselves on not to be infected specially to those people who do go to work for the sake of their needs.

It is true, that's why the vaccine is really needed to stop the pandemic. Once the vaccine is ready in all countries in the world, then it is the end of the pandemic. All people can be cured by the vaccine and Covid-19 isn't a nightmare anymore.

Now vaccinations are being developed in several countries and I think they will be ready by September.
How do you know it will be ready in September? Do you read a valid article or news?
I am not sure that the vaccine will be ready in all the countries in the world in the next 3 months. I think it will take more time and likely be ready at the end of this year or even the next year. But yeah, who knows it will be ready faster.  Cheesy

In order for the immune system to be strong against the virus, a person needs to be vaccinated.

Cheesy

sept is too soon for the vaccine. a potent vaccine will be years in the making. though with our sophisticated technology it may be cut short. maybe at the end of this year but this sept, i seriously doubt that.
lets just hope that this will be available soon so people are not that paranoid whenever they go out of their house.

I am not sure that the vaccine will be ready in Sept, but it is not too long to wait because it's about 3 months. Let see what will come in Sept because I see that the number of people who get infected can increase anytime. I hope that until the vaccine can really be found, people will not risk their lives by hanging out there, which prevents the new case of Covid-19.

Clinical trials of the coronavirus vaccine in humans have already begun in Russia. Doctors promise to finish testing and launch the vaccine in mass production in early autumn. That's why I named such deadlines.
