Despite of the opening, they still didn't meet their expectation, but I guess this figure reported are only the amount of target prior to the pandemic, so obviously they can't hit that as not everyone are going out to play, only few will.

So the question here is, are they still operating profitably?

I guess the casino will still operating because that is just a beginning. If they can promote using other media, I think the casino will have more gamblers to come to the casino. It is normal to see the profit is not as big as they imagine because people still afraid to go out of their home. But if the casino and another business can make sure that people will be safe to go to the places, people will go to the casino and play the games again. We need to give the people some time to think and decide, while the owner can still apply the protocols to protect people who come to that casino.

From the looks of it, as I understand this article that I have just read, looks like the local government of Nevada is not addressing a simple question many in the media are asking - Would there be a shutdown of Casino's in Nevada. Looks like they are dodging the question and even the Governor is not giving straight forward answers. The casino owners say that the question is not theirs to decide and they just left their casinos open for tourists who supposedly wants to escape it all - Covid or otherwise. For me, that is a sign of inaction and incompetency. Source: https://www.rgj.com/story/news/2020/07/23/covid-nevada-las-vegas-should-casinos-stay-open-strip-coronavirus/5479733002/

I also see it like that because many people have started to try to open their businesses again and when conditions like this will be many people at home will go back to work again and try to find and multiply their money quickly, and in my opinion gambling is the right choice because it can make lots of profit easily.

The vaccine is indeed needed because there is no way one of those open casino, restaurant etc wont break the social distance and the good hygiene rules.

Compliance with hygiene rules helps not only from the coronavirus. It is very good that people are now paying more attention to this, it will help protect themselves from other diseases.
If you need to follow other measures to visit a casino in Las Vegas, then I am sure the casino owners will do everything necessary to protect their visitors.

Setting the negativity aside, i dont know where you guys got the information about Russian producing COVID 19 vaccine because theres no such information from the CDC and WHO also disclaims such activities.

If this news was not reported on the NBS then there is no vaccine? The Russian vaccine has passed clinical trials successfully. The tested people developed a stable immunity to the coronavirus. The Russians plan to supply the vaccine to the domestic market from the autumn of 2020, and to other countries from the beginning of 2021. You can read about it here.

It could be interpreted in a different vein, though

This may be a sign of inaction, of course, but it is not necessarily a proof of incompetence. The government officials have probably come to realizing that they can't do much, and doing nothing is the best course of action under given circumstances. Basically, they let everyone decide for themselves what to do and not to do, to stay at home or go outside, perhaps, to visit a couple casinos

Easily huh, tell that to those people who lost their careers because of gambling addiction.

It may sounds pretty easy when you say gambling can generate profits easily but when you are in the table making bets, there are a lot of frustrations that led to people making wrong decisions. I think peoplr just go back to casinos after the lockdown because they miss it. Some of them are itching to go while on quarantine.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/las-vegas-sands-swings-to-loss-amid-plummeting-revenue-11595450474?mod=hp_lista_pos5

Casino's in Las Vegas reported up to 97% (!) of decline of revenues according this article published in WSJ
Literally billions of USD have been "not played" due this pandemic event Sad the entire industry of entertainment has been severely hit
This big amount of money (at least a percentage) it's pretty sure will be caught from online casino...

Can't read the whole article but I read an article that says casinos are actually having profits amidst the pandemic but I guess I read that wrong. I guess they should stick to online or live betting now so that workers can stillcdo their jobs and avoid more contacts to people that would also lessen the contamination of the virus.
~snip
So the question here is, are they still operating profitably?

Some people are actually going to casinos because they don't want Vegas' economy to crumble down based on this article. So I guess they would continue to open casinos despite the increasing cases and there will always be hard-headed individuals in this pandemic like the two people stated in the same article.

There will be always people who won't follow orders and will still do they want to do. Las vegas is a very popular place for all gamblers and it's one of the greatest in the gambling industry that helps the economy.

Even here in my country, they will still continue the business here that will help to grow the countrie's economy. POGO are always running here and didn't stopped even there's a quarantine, I don't know why our government let them do their thing here and without also paying tax. I hope that they will implement a massive clearance for them to be safe in Las Vegas.

POGO can't be compared with Las Vegas I guess as POGO does not allow Filipinos to gamble, they only allow tourist, while in Las Vegas, I guess everyone is allowed, therefore there's a lot of gamblers in the venue.

The last time i checked every POGO club members can still gamble online and I dont see any city in the world that should compare with Las Vegas in terms of gambling which the reason why it was called City of sin, Gambling Capital of the World, Lost Wages etc.

But there are consequences to that.
Cases in Nevada are growing very quickly now. And if the cases don't stop to rise state authorities will have to lock down Las Vegas again.

The pandemia is still very active. I think they'll have to close Las Vegas soon if things don't stop to get worse.

The pandemia is still very active. I think they'll have to close Las Vegas soon.

I doubt it. The peak incidence is presumably behind and the health care system has a large margin of safety. But with the economy, everything is much worse and most likely the second wave of quarantines and severe restrictions will be fatal for it.

As far as I know these POGOs are managing an online site here in the Philippines and they are either Filipino or Chinese though it is said to be a money making business of Chinese in the country. Either way, I agree that they can't be compared since even though they are allowing this in the country, the services they offer are just for foreign countries.

The pandemic is still very active. I think they'll have to close Las Vegas soon.

I doubt it. The peak incidence is presumably behind and the health care system has a large margin of safety. But with the economy, everything is much worse and most likely the second wave of quarantines and severe restrictions will be fatal for it.

At what point do you suppose the pandemic will over-run Las Vegas (or any other major US city) given you don't seem to think there is anything wrong in the US at the moment with the nearing run-away numbers of cases?

~snip~

I think the casino will depend on the local government because if the local government saying that the casino needs to be closed for a while, the casino must follow the suggestion. But the government doesn't give the answers, so the casino will still run their business whether the casino owner says that the casino opens for the tourist or publicly, they need to use the protocol from the government.

~snip~
I also see it like that because many people have started to try to open their businesses again and when conditions like this will be many people at home will go back to work again and try to find and multiply their money quickly, and in my opinion gambling is the right choice because it can make lots of profit easily.

At least, people need to think that gambling is not a place to make fast money, and they need to realize that the casino can take all of their money in a short time. People can go to the casino only if they can make sure that their place is safe for them while people will need to back to work again to make money. People go to the casino is for fun and enjoy the game, but some of them have a reason to go to the casino to make money.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/las-vegas-sands-swings-to-loss-amid-plummeting-revenue-11595450474?mod=hp_lista_pos5

Despite of the opening, they still didn't meet their expectation, but I guess this figure reported are only the amount of target prior to the pandemic, so obviously they can't hit that as not everyone are going out to play, only few will.

So the question here is, are they still operating profitably?

According data provided and this news reported from WSJ yes they are operating alway in profit. Just gains literally collapsed of 97% .
(net revenue 98$ millions of USD)
They are still gaining money, they are still active, but loosing these amount means that the business has been hit very hard by pandemic events.

Nothing can be return back to normal until 7 billion units of vaccines get manufactured, this is insane number and don't know how long it will take to produce such amount, but atleast a year is needed to inject medicine to the everyone in this world then only people can be set free from the fear of getting affected.

Many people are already infected with a coronavirus, and has its own immune system. Others are not afraid to get infected. At first, you need much less vaccines than 7 billion. We're not dealing with a plague.
I agree while 7 billion vaccines will be the optimal number we need to be realistic, that is simply not possible at least for the short term, so governments will have to decide which is the best and most effective way to make use of whatever vaccines they can get their hands on, and to me it is obvious that those that are at a greater risk of suffering long lasting effects or even death are the ones that should be vaccinated first, so the elderly and those with previous health issues should be vaccinated first.

The cases are climbing there and yet gamblers and visitors keep coming. In my opinion, it will be better for them to be close again, however, I think they are balancing the problem once they close it and when they continue operating it. If its open, new cases will happen and people will die. If they close it, unemployment, hunger, etc. More problem for the economy, so they have choose. And I think people from above will choose the risk of facing the virus, as long as they are the one that are safe.

Its possible to be suspended once again if there are a lot of employee who are reported as new cases, it will be blast contract tracing for sure.

The compliance with covid 19 good hygiene only curb the spread of covid and I dont think it also protect people from others disease. However, I agreed that the casino owners will do everything possible to protect their visitors because they wont want the government to stop them from operating again but everything still depend on every individual or visitors level compliance.

Dirty hands are a huge number of different pathogenic bacteria. A very good invention - sanitizer with a content of more than 70% alcohol, it helps to kill most bacteria and viruses.
Now in all public establishments such as casinos, they are required to be installed within walking distance.

Cant read the link you provided but I want you to know that vaccine that is not acknowledge by WHO and CDC cant be use as Covid 19 vaccine.

WHO is the organization that allowed the spread of coronavirus around the world? WHO can something other than spend money coming from donations? It is not this organization, but Russia that delivered the Ebola vaccine to African countries and saved hundreds of human lives. Therefore, we do not need to talk about its approval.
