btw, how do i reverse the firmware?

Can someone from Spondoolies explain?

I want the FW 1.2.7 back so bad right now

Please upgrade now once, we have temporary reverted the firmware version (it will notify you about available update again, though it's enough to do it once).
I'm upgrading now..

Is it possible to let user choose FW version to use ?

I have several SP10s, so i can do comparison of both hashrate and power consumptions.

Edit: Got FW 1.2.31, same result. Normal mode + 1250w : 1.28TH/s 1.24-1.28TH/s

Compare it to another SP10 running 1.2.7, both use same CGminer version 3.12.3 : 1.39THs

So CGminer has no effect.

For FCC compliance we had to add power limitation for 110V in new versions that limits your  mining to around 1.3.

I need help!. After followed instruction to revert the FW, the performance stayed the same. So i switched it to Turbo mode to see if it changes anything, now Miner_Gate and CGminer dont even run. I tried reboot, factory reset....nothing.

It keeps saying waiting for pool connection but thats not right (also after factory reset)

Can someone help?

Asic_stats shows blank as MinerGate doesnt run.

EDIT: So i upgraded it back to 1.2.32 and it still didnt mine
I checked the miner physically and noticed amber led blinking on the back of PSU. I quickly power cycle the miner and now it runs again. I'm back to 1.2.32 tho. I wont revert the FW this time because it didnt fix the performance. It seems the power limit stuck even after i reverted it back to 1.2.7

I'm not touching it until Zvi's response.

1.3 Th/s for many US folks (110V) now...  Cry
For 110V: It should be around 1.35 TH/s with 0.8 W / GH/s ratio.
Well within the 1.4 TH/s +- 10% published spec.
There are however some variants between each miner, due to different ASICs corners.
The fact that we're using 192 ASICs in each miner should decrease the variance, unlike some other vendors.

We're still tweaking the firmware.

Thanks, i lied.... i touched it again this morning..... Cheesy

I use recorvery SD method that Zvi told me. There are 2 methods to revert: replacing uImage file, or recovery SD.

The recovery SD method worked like a charm. Performance (1.2.7) : 1.38TH/s @ 1250w at the wall.

I cant wait for the 240v wiring now...Cheesy

Thanks Spondoolies team

PS. would it be possible to have an option to adjust fan speed manually? or use temp as target setting (performance is auto adjusted to stay on or below certain temp) ?

Glad to hear that was sorted out!

Thanks for the suggestion about the fans speed, we will look into it.

There is a chance I'm incorrect, but I believe the fan can be controlled directly by adjusting the numeric value in the file

/sys/devices/ocp.3/pwm_test_P9_31.12/duty

cat that. the formula seems to be 12000 + (%% * 200)

for max fan at 100%

echo 32000 > /sys/devices/ocp.3/pwm_test_P9_31.12/duty

for fans at 50%

echo 22000 > /sys/devices/ocp.3/pwm_test_P9_31.12/duty

personally, I would not go less than this. but if you must, feel free to plug in whatever value you want and have at it. watch your asic screen though, if you start getting too many 119C (they show up as red), then they will downclock and you will lose hashing power.

1.3 Th/s for many US folks (110V) now...  Cry

Been renting several of these miners for the past couple of days.  They are amazing.  Very stable and produce 1.4GH.  Recommended if you are looking to take the next step.

THE BEST PERFORMING MINER - SHIPPING FROM STOCK!
Meet the first Data Center-ready Bitcoin miner. With a slender fit, measuring only 1.25 U, The SP10 - Dawson unit is designed for both personal and commercial use. The SP10 - Dawson uses 192 Spondoolies-Tech Hammer ASIC units to produce 1.4 TH/s of mining power. With a nominal power consumption of only 1.25 kW the SP10 - Dawson provides excellent hash to power ratio and is a great choice to keep your running costs down.

With a brand new and intuitive user interface the SP10 - Dawson is completely plug and play with minimal setup required. Order now and start mining!

TECHNICAL BLOG
1.49 ON EARLY MAY BATCH UNIT
I created new FW version that has option to customise DC2DC current (1.3.31-experiment).
If you have COLD ambient temperature (<25C) and slow corner May batch unit:
Set
-----
DC2DC current limit to 63
AC2DC limit to 1265
start voltage to 0.68
max voltage to 0.73
fans to 80%
------
and you just might get almost ~1.5TH in miner, which is about 1.48TH in pool.

If you don't have slow corner May unit or don't know what Asic corner unit you have, set start voltage to 0.660. I didn't try it but it might give you a bit more.

Just monitor the DCt column in the ASIC stats that it is not over 90, and I don't know how stable it is, so if you leave it over night you might loose hash rate if it falls.

It's in custom FW downloads, 1.3.31-experiment, only for the brave for now.

QUIET MODE IN SP10 1.3.XX
Quiet mode setting for FW 1.3.XX:

Calibration and warm-up:

1) Goto WebUI settings tab -> "Advanced Voltage Settings"

2) Set fans:80%, start voltage:0.660, max voltage:0.740

3) Let the unit run for 30 minutes.

4) Goto "Asic Stats" page

5) Look at the column "vlt". It shows the optimal voltage found per each DC2DC by the SW in millivolts.

6) Remember the maximal (MAX) and minimal (MIN) values. Also look at the AC2DC power=XXXX[YYYY]. XXXX is current power, YYYY is the power limit.

Setting

1) Set the fan to 80%, start voltage to (MIN-10 millivolt) and max. voltage to MAX (note that this field is in volts, not in millivolts).

2) Now you can play with the max Voltage/start Voltage values based on the calibration values. The system will find optimal values within the range. Try steps of 10 or 20 millivolt and see the effect on the hash rate. Leave at least 30mv range between start and max. Do this on warm system (it should be warm after the 30 minute mining). Always compare the hash rate you are getting with the AC2DC power.

3) Once you choose your voltage range and you know the AC2DC power, set your fans. The goal is to have most ASICs in the ASICs page to be in the 77C range. Here is rule of thumb for ~24C rooms: 1250W=80% fans for good performance. If you set to 1000W, you can set to 50% and it should work. Just look at your ASIC page and make sure most ASICs are 77C = then you are not wasting energy on leakage. If most of them are hotter, ether decrease voltage, ether increase fans.

This way you can set the quiet mode you want that will match your temperature and your board.

P.S. We are adding option to control max PSU limit in FW 1.3.30. Default is 1250W, but it worked for us at 1265W - 1% more. You will be able to use that extra power in cold environment only, since in hot ambient the ASIC temperature will limit you. Also in first batch the DC2DC will prevent you from using so much power at 0.670 volt. But in May batch in 0.69v it will help.  !! If you set too much, your unit will shut-down and PSU led will start blinking, you will have to power cycle and change limit !!

P.S.S. Well, now you can also change the DC2DC max current from next version. The spec. says 60 Amper, we set upper limit at 61. I recommend not touching those. However, you can try setting them to 62 or 63 if you are in cold environment, and you have some spare power in AC2DC. Just monitor their temperature for the first hour - it's the DCt column in ASICs page. Should be under 90C (it has thermal shutdown around 120C). You will probably need it only if you purchased powerful PSU or some of your loops got broken, so you want to pull more from other loops.

For FCC compliance we had to add power limitation for 110V in new versions that limits your  mining to around 1.3.

Anyway to get the older version?  I was hoping to see around 1.4 TH.

I just got mine and slightly disappointed at the 1.32 TH/s in Turbo mode. (around 1.29 TH in Normal).  BTC Guild sees the hashrate slightly lower, of course.

I'm still pretty happy with the units, though.  They are easy to set up (though they started mining for Spondoolies as soon I plugged them in).  They are LOUD, even in normal mode!  I put it on turbo so I can get the extra speed.  26 C ambient temp.  They are in the basement - cooler and don't have to deal with the noise unless it's laundry day, lol.

So, any progress on getting the fans quieter (especially the PSU fan)?

EDIT: got new firmware - 1.3.49 - slightly faster.  Between 1.33 and 1.36 TH now.  Still LOUD!

Put something in my tip jar if I made your day. Smiley

Louder. You'd probably need 40 S2s to match the noise pressure of a single SP10.

Perfect analogy.
It is insanely loud.  Just like the data centers.

christ. Im planning on installing it in its own location where noise isnt an issue, but if the answer had been less of a resounding LOUD I may have been able to dd it to my current collection of 16 S1 and a S2 unit (which are approaching the limits of noise i can handle)
