Hi jackielove4u, great questions, I will answer them as concisely as possible:

2) Yup, and that's why I'm giving myself until September 1, so I have plenty of time to learn the particularities of Groestlcoin.

3) Correct-- in my view, successful sidechains in a production environment would sway internal Bitcoin politics in a preferable direction. That doesn't change the fact that I wish to carry out this project for Groestlcoin to completion.

6) I'll agree that full time might not work unless I quit my current job (which I'm not willing to do). However, I would agree to say that if the project is not substantially completed (modulo a certain number of bugs and other outstanding issues) by September 1, then I will return the funds to their respective senders (minus transaction fees).

7) That's fine. But in terms of dates, the target is Sept. 1,, and the month of April is nearly finished, so it would be 4 months rather than 5 months so it would be 3.75 BTC per month over the course of 4 months.

8 ) Not a problem for me, although I don't foresee needing such access (I could just create pull requests periodically). Would I have additional duties/responsibilities to the community if I were granted such access?

2) Why the hard deadline of September, if u need 2 or 3 months extra, why dont just finish the project and keep the funds (instead returning the funds?). Im more interested in making this proposal a success.

3) Why did you choose elements-alpha as experimental sidechain and not Liquid (by Blockstream) or Rootstock?. Who will monitor and maintain the sidechain and fix issues if there are any? Who will keep the elements-alpha up to date with upstream from time to time?

6) We prefer also that you dont quit your job as we have a normal dayjob also. Just managing expectations here. If the project is not finished by Sept. 1, i rather have you take as much of time u need to finish it instead of returning the funds.

7) How can we make this concrete? The problem is not the funding as we already have a investor who wants to fund u in full. Before he transfers the Groestlcoins to me, i want to make sure that you are who u claim u are and that u are able to deliver. For example lets determine the ammount of GRS that needs to be transfered.
We have 2 options here:
- We transfer 15 BTC of Groestlcoin worth to an escrow (my choosing will be PsychoticBoy). Funds will be delivered to you when you deliver the project. The ammount will be fixed. If the price of GRS rises or gets down then u still get the same ammount.
- We transfer 3.75 BTC of Groestlcoin worth to your GRS address and hope we dont get scammed. The ammount will be fixed. If the price of GRS rises or gets down then u still get the same ammount.
I prefer to use the escrow btw.

8 ) No additional duties/responsibilities. We just keep all Groestlcoin related project in 1 place. If people wants to fork elements alpha then they can fork from our Github. It would be also nice if you could merge with upstream from time to time but its not mandatory and out of the scope of this project.

How about communication? Will you keep a blog to update the community every month about the progress? Is there a faster way to contact each other instead of email/PM. You will need the fast communication in case you are stuck and need help. I recommend using Skype (pm me your Skype address).

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

I vote for escrow, if milestones are achieved every month then release one third at time. Smiley

I wonder that do you need to get paid for fixing every bugs or update after sept 1
and did anyone pay the developer of GRS in the past 2 years?

I guess this is strange too, can someone explain what's the reason for this?
Is there no developer at GRS anymore?

Learn to read. Its a thing.

There are enough developers at GRS. But we develop just wallets thats it, wallets.

This new guy wants to develop a sidechain for GRS.
While we could do this ourselves, our main focuss is on wallets. Not on sidechains, not on building exchanges, not on payment processors, not on marketing etc etc.

If he wants to develop it for Groestl and wants to crowdfund it, what wrong with it?
In case you you are waiting for development, wait for it on 22 June.

I was out for a while, busy with XMG, which went to the moon but came back on earth again.
You know, I hate waiting, (be careful or you get my favorite picture).
Thanks for the quick clear answer, kerel!

Please post it! I love your favorite picture! Its the guy dressed like deadpool wobbling right? We dutchies can appreciate good memes.

XMG mooning wasnt really a moon, it was a delisting pump. Same shit happend to GRS just before polo delisted us back in sept 2016. We warned everybody but nobody believed us. They pump coins before delisting so they can sell all their fees they collected. It happend also to piggycoin and lots of other coins back in sept 2016.

Anyway no heart feelings, we have a release cycle of 3 months. New grs core was released on 22 jan 2017. (we delayed it 1 month to give all pools time to  signal 100% segwit. We had a treshold of 95% and activated with 100%)
Then we released new development on 22 march 2017. Next release is on 22 June 2017. The next will be on 22 sept 2017 and so on and so on.

I can Escrow the funds of this project if needed.

It really sounds great, hope this project comes of the ground.

A dream. Awesome...

Psychoticboy, you are a big man/woman. Exact your power is well needed in Groestlcoin and Crypto as general. Top

I am very happy, that the funding wouldnt be the problem.

Hi! I check Telegram often, and definitely prefer it over Skype (due to stronger encryption and absence of Microsoft snooping). I have PMed you my Telegram number. If Telegram isn't possible, then PM me back and I can send my skype handle.

3) Elements-Alpha contains the Segwit-only features, whereas my understanding is that Liquid contains the features that are compatible with the present non-Segwit Bitcoin network. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that Liquid is therefore a rather centralized attempt at a sidechain.

7) The escrow proposal sounds good, but can we make it a 2-of-3 escrow (utilizing a multisig address)? Bitrated is a directory of reputable independent escrow agents-- among these is coblee (Charlie Lee, creator of Litecoin for those who didn't know), and he has a top-tier reputation as an escrow agent. Could we perhaps invite someone like Charlie (and one other reputable agent) in addition to PsychoticBoy so we can do a fairly solid 2-of-3?

I'd be grateful for all insights into what the French elections will mean for the Eurozone (and therefore cryptos).

(I asked the emus here, but their opinions on French politics are ridiculous!)

Could we perhaps invite someone like Charlie (and one other reputable agent) in addition to PsychoticBoy so we can do a fairly solid 2-of-3?

Added you on Telegram.

3)  Liquid is the internal ledger between a few exchanges. There are multiple implementations of Lightning network (such as lnd written in Go). Have you seen this one: https://github.com/ElementsProject/lightning ?
Perhaps your next project after elements alpha or in case you fail to port elements alpha you can switch to lightning and still claim the funds? Im open for all suggestions.

7) I agree on your proposal if coblee chooses to accept it. There are 3 options:
- We send all funds to coblee and he releases the funds to you when you successfully complete this project (as in working and ready for production)
- We can use 1-of-2 multisig escrow with you and coblee. Funds to be released when you successfully complete this project (as in working and ready for production)
- We can use 2-of-3 multisig escrow with you, coblee and psychoticboy. Funds to be released when you successfully complete this project (as in working and ready for production)

Funds to be send to coblee/multisig address is 750.000 GRS. Do you agree on that ammount? Lets determine the ammount now and get that fixed. If price rises/lowers by 1 september 2017 then you still get 750.000 GRS.
