I do see the point about identity. And yes, that's really complex a subject to broach. Italy wants to win with identity but perhaps there really is more to it than playing style.

England has had so many different managers and styles (what is, really, English football anyway?). Spain also isn't always about possession, they can, and have turned things inside out when needed but do agree the identity is less about playing style than philosophy of structure, and why it hasn't mattered much whoever took charge of Spain, it mattered only that they understood the way players play and clubs play, in Spain at home and abroad. That team matters over player. Always the team.

Even if it's about playing style, no need to hold on to Catenaccio. The Dutch revamped their football in the 1990s (and the same guy revamped Barca). England revamps every 4 years haha.

Pirlo won't become next Italy coach because of his contract with Russian betting company got lot of negative attention. IMO, it's good, he wasn't good option. Pirlo was such iconic player, but as coach he didn't had any big achievements until now.
Now again we hear same names of Allegri or Mancini as main options. Like always, when national team or big their clubs appoint coaches, it looks that they doin't have other options than Allegri, Sarri, Gattuso or Spaletti.
I know that he have job, but maybe Gasperini wouldn't be bad option?

Spain case is actually very interesting. Look at De la Fuente - before become Spain coach he was basically no name and had not much success in work with clubs. Maybe we can't say same things about Del Bosque as he had big wins with Real, but it was long time ago before becomeing Spain coach.
But offcourse, things get easier when you have generation of players like Xavi, Iniesta, Ramos, Casillas and etc or current generation. Italy with their no name players is in different situation completely.

All comes down to systems again,,, Fuente might not have success but he really was part of the system and I read that actually all the players already were familiar with him it seems, and he prioritized what all the players already knew which was team work not individuals.

Message to Italy: get your message right then hire the coach with the same message?

Italy has to first admit that they are far away from their historical standards. Their team is terrible, and a big reason for it is lack of grassroots investments at local levels.
Their clubs all have academies filled with 50 foreigners that they toss on multiple loans - often to clubs in the lower leagues - so Italians play less even there.

I think Italy needs 10+ years of sustainable investment on multiple levels and some quota changes as well for player registrations in order to be able to challenge at the highest level again.
Their EURO success in 2020 did them more harm than good, it masked the fact that it was a really bad team that won it.

Whoever their manager is, he won't fight at the top level - that's for sure.

They threw away their grassroots for money,,, and politics, and this they have to buy back. Sadly a lot of people including myself only found out about this recently and in this thread we discussed so much already how the problems seem too late to fix.

10+ years, I believe this is a short timeframe in a big picture,,, but no Italian president seems to see this.

In my case i ahve to be honest and SerieA is not getting so much interest for me right now, is a league which each year is less atractive, if you ask me maybe this time im gonna let it go for this season. Without any sponsor and seeing like most of us didnt put atention until today which is just one day away from the start shows that we are not so into.

But you know, maybe i can change my mind.

It's true that Serie A is getting less interest, especially now when they're on decline, but still, I would prefer to play. But before sending money it would be good to hear confirmation from more people that they will play. Otherwise we will have to skip this season.

If we do not have 10+ players here I would be very very sad,,, Serie A was always my top priority for pools besides Champions League, and I supported to join other pools. Of course can understand the reasons and if it is needed to take a break for 1 year, I can swallow it,,, would changing the fee to 0.5 just for this off season help others change their mind?

Maybe it really is time to take a break? We have pools with and without sponsorship, and we should probably focus on those. As I understand it, everything is currently moving toward La Liga becoming a paid pool without sponsorship, and the Premier League becoming a free pool without sponsorship. For me, these options are sufficient, since there's no enthusiasm among the masses, and there's nothing wrong with taking a break. La Liga and Serie A have always been a pair, and if you have to choose between them, La Liga wins hands down in all respects.
