Ethereum was the number two coin in the cryptocurrency world,but now to much interesting projects on the cryptocurrency market,They look like same positions.so eth strong project and position is second to many user but not king.

Even though its position is ranked second as the most popular cryptocurrency, of course this is not a factor that ethereum will be rivaled  with other altcoins, as far as I remember in 2018, only riplle was the only altcoin that was able to shift ethereum's position in second crypto after bitcoin, but at that time it was only riplle while only occupying the second position after then ethereum managed to regain its position until now, in general bitcoin is the king of all existing cryptos, but in particular, of course, the king of altcoin is ethereum which currently has a very large market capitalization and even its current position it will be very difficult to replace by other altcoins.

Without doubt ethereum is one of the best thing to have happened to cryptocurrency outside bitcoin. The use case is superb. I would say Defi is part of the overall activities leading to this year's bull run with Uniswap been the home of the good, bad and ugly all running on the ethereum layer. Because most major trends in the crypto market have to rely on the Ethereum blockchain. From ICO to Defi, NFT, most of them are tokens and projects launched on this blockchain. With such a large number of projects, ETH will remain the top 1 altcoin for a long time.

I think that no one will ever beat or replace Ethereum, because Ethereum has been in that position (the king of altcoin) for a long time and that will be Ethereum position forever, so I believe it will be difficult for another altcoin to beat or replace Ethereum, although at that time Ripple had replaced Ethereum, but it only took a very short time for Ethereum to take its position again, because I think Ethereum is the king of altcoin forever (permanently).

The race is not even close now, so we can easily proclaim that ETH is the king, and even if we ask people they will believe in ETH than any other coins.

But if distinguishing those projects, there are likely a lot of bad projects too that can be thrown to it. But let's all agree that it's the king of altcoins and that cannot be changed in the meantime.
There are other projects that try to compete with Ethereum like Tron, BNB, Stellar and other projects too but the most chosen platform is Ethereum's smart contract.
