Food prices doubled this year

where is the role of government? the government should have participated in reducing such potential. the 30% price increase is very burdensome for the community. the analogy is this:
the price of goods went up, but no one was buying. because money is hard to find and that is a problem. It's different if the price goes up, but the money is easy to find, yes, it's a normal price increase because people have no trouble buying it.

You must come from the same region as I do. Nett exporter of certain foods, though we are a nett importer of staple like rice (go figure), and yet we're still paying more every year for both sides of the food coin (import and export). I don't even go home much but I see the prices just ticking up every few months on every day food.

Inflation. Go figure.

Where I live now, it also happens, I can see for the past 4 years, but it's not as bad, and some staples have always remained the same price. 1 unit of national currency here still pretty much gets you a good amount of food. But 1 unit back home? Used to in the 1990s. It's like playmoney now.

That is a sad reality now because of pandemic many people lives getting worst then suddenly price of every goods in the market that we really need daily are also increasing but the salary and income of every individual nothing change. And now that most of the people lost their job ,buying a primary necessities is very difficult for them. It's really hard to think about our situation now.

In my nation the same thing happened, unfortunately life got very expensive as well due to pandemic. Many farmers didn't had the courage (which is given and I understand) to go out and work, usually it is not a one man job because lands are huge and that means more than one person working and it was illegal to work with a lot of people for a while, so that all ended up with farms not being utilized properly and food got scarce.

Obviously not too much, even at double it is reasonable because we all saw what happened to Venezuela or other nations where food was so expensive that whole nation lost weight all together and starved, but at the same time we know that we do not have to be at that level to be upset about the situation. Vertical farming needs to be a major standard in farming industry already to avoid starvation ever in human existence.

In my country, everything is the same, only pork has increased about 10% - 15% in the past time. simply because my country was not affected much by the Covid-19 pandemic, so the economy was still operating normally. only the luxury tourism and service industries are badly affected by the low demand for tourism. I pity people and businesses in the countries severely affected by the covid epidemic, hope all get over soon and we will do it again.

Yes, some necessities are now expensive because the production rate of every product is very low due to the pandemic that we are facing right now.

The government is allowing only 50% production because having full production has risk of increasing the COVID-19 cases.
The economy was really hit hard and that's the reason why some prices are being doubled because of the crisis.

I did not see any price doubling that happened which is based on my experience for I am the one buying our necessities in the market while our country are still on a quarantine all because of the pandemic. Yes, there is an observable price increase on the common necessities like foods, hygiene essentials and some other products but here in our country, we have not seen any price doubling for our government is closely monitoring and strict implementing that the price of such goods and services needed by every people are still under the affordable price value that is still attainable by minimum wage earners and for those that do not have stable job because of the pandemic. Good thing that the government is maintaining such because if the price would double, surely the people will be stuck into another burden and that would be really awful to be experienced.

It is called inflation, and I know it is really hard. You could see a lot of threads in the forum already talking about this since we already know what will happen in this pandemic in the long run. I know that this is a risk but you could still do some investments that could/might do well during inflation.

Mine was different, the price for foodstuffs increased when the Coronavirus started. The government announced that there was going to be a lockdown the next week, and immediately the price for foodstuffs almost doubled. I’m a single guy that lives with my junior brother, so I go to the local market frequently to buy foodstuffs.

It was a surprise to me , I went to the market that day to buy things that we are going to cook and the price changed for everything that I wanted to buy. But after the lockdown the prices also went down, and right now I can tell you that things are back to a low price and I’m really happy about that, except for things that are being imported, although the government has announced that they will be opening the airport, so I’m very sure those ones will go down too.

The price of food in my country is not double, but it increases for a small price, and I think we are okay with that. Since we are in the pandemic, I think it is normal if the food price increases, but if the food price doubled because of this pandemic, I don't think that people will agree because many of them lose jobs they need to search for money. I think the government should pay attention to this to help their people have food in this pandemic.

Fortunately here there's no major price increase that happened. Price of goods are same as before except on vegetables that sometimes running out of stock. The people are struggling now to earn for a living because of this pandemic, many businesses and companies chose to permanently close due to loss of income and it has an impact to the workers. If they increase the price of the primary needs of people then that would be an additional burden.

Most of the crops in the cities came from the provinces usually far from the city and with the pandemic happening right now, transporting them is a problem for these farmers. With the price of transporting slowly getting higher, the price of these crops are also increasing which will lead to higher price of these crops. We all feel inflation.

I guess it's the same in any county all over the world, because of the covid-19 crisis people are facing many economic and heal problems. This will increase the demand of foods and the other some other products. In the other hand, due the the crisis we are facing to, many people got their income lowered or even lost their jobs. In my country for example, price of fruits are increased real hard. 

Food is the main staple for humans to survive, so it is very important now that food is very much needed, a lot of assistance, this must be quickly distributed so that there is no hunger in this pandemic, indeed in my country too many jobs have been lost due to this crisis. accepting mercy from others, therefore the government has been swift in overcoming this sort of thing so as not to prolong the crisis.

Some people will really increase it but not that much because thats where humanity will kick in, everyone knew that we are all struggling because of the pandemic so everyone is adjusting, this is also when the governments help is really needed and fortunately in my country i really feel the concern of our government, they have given us boxes of canned goods and some other stuff that will helps us, with the pandemic now people should have already expected a price increase in foods and other stuff but in my opinion its not that of a increase, everything seems to be normal and now that we are a tiny bit progressing in terms of fighting the virus i think we will not see of a price increase in the goods that we need.

here as well theres no huge increase on the food so far but except maybe to the indemand non edible products like alcohol , face masks , and simillar to these items but thats okay because people were now making a way to save like they are creating thier own face mask and buying antibacterial soap to disenfect instead of alcohol which can work pretty good too  . speaking of idemand items , that maybe the reason why thier price increase but the demand  of food are infact lessen because of the financial problems  in which thier price should decrease , not increase or stabilize  .

Grains here = no increase

vegetables here = lowering the price aside from those seasonal harvest.

Meat here = increased by 20-30%

Fish here = same as the whole year

So all in all?there is no big changes or maybe because i am close to Big market in which small marker use to buy their stuffs to resell.

Our status here in the Philippines is in a bad shape for lower class and middle class families. Most cities have been in lockdown and mostly everyone is on home quarantine. Some lost their job while others are being force to be on vacation leave. Regarding foods; meat and vegetables are facing an increase of 10% to 40% in prices. For fishes, it depends on the weather since we never run out of stock for fishes. I know other countries are even poorer and I just hope everyone can get through this time of pandemic.

Maybe some of people will not accept this one. But the fact is this is true one. In most of the basic goods we are buying now with 20-30% above the price before corona . The shop people is justifying by the fake words of and lying. Some people losing their money and some people gaining and buying gold and assets for their profit. Government of each country should look into it.

Yup, no lies in this, especially foods that are being imported, their prices all went up like crazy. This is even one of the reasons why a lot of people where I live were not in support of the lockdown; they had no jobs and some of them have lost their jobs due to the lockdown and economy crashing, and then the price of foodstuffs were going up like crazy and people were totally frustrated, you don’t have a job and you also can’t afford to buy food for your family with the little money you have left. And this is why I will never support there to be any other lockdown.

Only the rich guys are able to survive the lockdown, because they buy whatever foods they want and stock up without stress. Not the same for the poor, lol.
