It is expected knowing that the capacity or the purchasing power of money to buy is depleted. No one could.be save with their especially if all countries economy will going to collapse. For now government has no income or lesser income and the need or maintainance in every department too are always asking for the support but where to get the funds? This is really a disaster in the future if this pandemic continue.
This is why so many countries trying their best to anticpate the pandemic but unfortunately most of them failing and causes backlash to their economy. Crisis gonna come and it's the government that will heavily affect the result we gonna see whether we gonna get big crisis or some small minor crisis.
That's why it's just better to prepare for it before it comes.

When i have time i go to local market to check prices

Vegetable prices doubled
Fruit prices doubled
Meat prices around 30% increase
Grain products around 20% increase
...

And my country  is a exporter of food products

How is it in your country ? Same ?

Same scenario here and I'm sure it's also the same scenario where there is a high infection of CoVid , it's understandable because there is a limit  in travel and the people are lock up and cannot go to their factory, the demand is higher and the supply cannot keep up.

Due to Covid-19, many countries execute closure policy, it make food distribution has many difficulties. Some places food is thrown away to be rotten, but some places people don't have food to eat. It's an injustice and I don't know how to fix it.
I think we work together against covid - 19 then all problems will be easily solved. I find that the Americans and the majority of people in Europe are still quite indifferent to Covid - 19, they don't wear a mask just because they are not used to it Smiley
I just hope everyone will be more conscious of preventing Covid virus infection, then we will still work and make money normally without any barriers. The domestic economy also goes up because there are fewer cases. So let's all - in your consciousness, this is a very civilized act and contributes to change the world.

I think it is because of their cultures wherein there is miseducation even though they are belong in the 1st world countries, I keep seeing a lot of videos wherein a lot of citizens are not believing in the virus and also not wearing masks because they say that they are not used to it. They also say that there is a freedom and it is their decision if they will wear mask or not. There is a bit funny part but I also pity them because they do not have right information about what is current happening in different economies.

Many countries all over the world, are affected by Covid-19. Aside from this pandemic, other problems arose including high inflation rate and other economic problems. As we experienced during the Covid-19 outbreak, food prices become doubled in the market, but why are food prices soaring? there are causes of the rise in food prices that also tied to the pandemic. First is the demand of people, second is the inadequate supply of goods, and last is the virus itself that greatly affects the economy, especially the industry of food production...

My country is much worse than your country, we doubled the prices of foodstuffs such as vegetables, fruits and grains, not 30% but rather 300% Huh !! The situation was bad in general, but after the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, the situation became much worse. There does not seem to be any solution on the horizon, the stupid government has nothing but stupid decisions and these decisions are always reversible and are reflected in a very negative way on the citizens.
My country is also one of the countries that export vegetables and gas as well, but this export negatively affects the lives of citizens, as they export local products and import expensive goods from other countries in dollars, and this leads to a continuous frenzy in prices in addition to the depreciation of the local currency against the dollar.

I am really afraid that food prices are going to rise even higher in the future. In my country more and more Eco friendly and Vegan food comes out which is usually 2-3 times more expensive than the same food in the past. If the prices keep rising like this it makes it very difficult to eat good food these days. Especially since the restaurants are closed in the new lockdown.

Covid has hit every country hard. The difference is that rich countries are able to take a bit of an economic hit, and still function almost as normal. It is unfortunately always the poorer countries where the effects are visible first. But this pandemic has made richer countries more aware of the importance of food security and ensuring that they can feed themselves in the event of international blockades. Hopefully this leads to less reliance on imports by big countries, and more food security for poorer ones.

I can confirm this from my end I am from Nigeria. The prices of food here are double we even have some that tripled. The cause of this is due to the Pandemic in the world this year, we hope that the economy will resuscitate after the whole pandemic

.There can be many reasons for not only the pandemic but also inflation, globalization, mismanagement of the market, normal and artificial decency, etc. For coronavirus people lost their job, production markets it affects badly everywhere. Lastly, food prices are increasing rapidly. It varies based on area. We hope this situation will under control as soon as possible.

Not sure which surplus country you are living but globally every country is feeling the pandemic and there is a shortage of products and if you are having shortage the price rises naturally and how come you are not aware of these natural process.

European country. Our country produces only a small part of products we have on the shelves, most are imported. Our major retail operators, thus majority of food are imported. We do have local warehouses, but still they are smaller, much smaller than in retailers home country.

I've seen products shortage only in March, when people went crazy buying toiler paper, rice, canned food.

Lets take most popular food. Milk, bread, eggs, rice. Milk prices are from 0.90 euro, bread ~1 euro, eggs 1 euro per 10, rice 0,85 euro for 4x125g pack. Last year prices were if not the same, but less than 5 cents lower. I dont see any "doubled" in food shops.

I think every country went crazy with the necessities because everybody went into a state of panic which we really can't blame to the people. Its also new to me that some European countries are importing items from other country which is really weird since some of the country in Europe had the best response to this pandemic although its really inevitable. Prices of Pork is the only thing that doubled in our country even though there are no shortage.

Hoo nice i almost agree with you. Rich countries seem have more resources to handle the affect of this covid nineteen pandemi. But Let us say rich countries are developed countries and i found something that trigger us about our paradigm with this. A study from Institute for Development of Economics and Finance (INDEF) in my country say that developed countries are currently more susceptible to recession than developing countries. It based on a research in first semester of 2020. They said that some developed countries especially US has a postponed action to prevent this pandemi.

You can read more about this on this link, but it is not in English, just activate Gtranslation on your chrome if you interest to read. Click This Reference about pandemi and resesi

First is the demand of people, second is the inadequate supply of goods, and last is the virus itself that greatly affects the economy, especially the industry of food production...
There has been a strong imbalance between supply and demand for food this year due to tough restrictive measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic. As a result, food producers could not sell their goods and it simply deteriorated, and the population did not have the opportunity to buy it, since the markets and trade network did not work.
However, there is also a more global problem with food. The population of our planet is growing, but the amount of fertile land is not increasing. Moreover, its area is decreasing due to human activities and environmental degradation. Therefore, the problem with food, and in the future with drinking water, will only grow.

There always has been an imbalance between supply and demand for food, it was just exposed because of the pandemic, back then it was more subtle and nobody really cared but now that everyone is watching the news, the eyes of many people were opened to the existing imbalance that has been plaguing them for a long time. The imbalance also amplified that existing problem because as you have said, pandemic has displaced some market providers and have their crops being wasted in storages. The problem with growing population is that most of the serious offenders are religiously tied so they do not approve of controlled reproduction, the fertility of land can be rejuvenated if governments around the world started to focus their efforts into creating an efficient way to grow crops and invest tons of money for agricultural research. The prices of the food will go down but I do think that it will gradually increase as there is inflation.

We are meant to live with nature in self-sustaining manner, unfortunately this not prioritize, and we are becoming less concerned about nature and living things we were created to take care of.
I think a model where lands are owned together and are well taken care of could easily work in a society where everyone is honest, good, trustworthy... and this will make the population issue not to be much of a problem. Unfortunately, this model will fail and won't be sustained due to how vulnerable humans are to evil. It can only work in a holy society.

Yes, the pandemic causes poverty. This is always a fact of the problem caused by inflation.  Most of the causes came from the covid 19 disaster, which caused production stagnation, lack of raw materials and lack of service supplies.  In my country, the government has focused on limiting uncertain sources of sponsorship.  Prices climbed while unemployment rose.  Poverty forecast and greatly affect the economic recovery in each country.

I thought the food is just way too high because the holidays are coming last year in which it is normal that the prices of the food when Christmas season and the new year is coming it is normal that the price of meat, fruits, and vegetables is increasing. But right now that the holiday season is finish already still whenever I am going to the market to buy food especially meat, the prices of it are way too high compared to the original price or SRP of each product. I don't know why it is happening, I think it is because of the supply of the food in which the supply was too low and maybe it is also an effect of the pandemic.
